Xbox360 HD-DVD Drive for < $50 & Bargain HD-DVD Movies Bumper Post

122

Found a few different sites selling the HD-DVD Drives. You may want to check stock levels, as these drives are selling like hotcakes. It will work with a PC, so therefore you do not need to have a Xbox 360 in order to use this. Decided to consolidate the links, or else the whole site will be filled with HD-DVD posts! :) Will add more as I come across them.

  • Gee. Those HD-DVD sales are going crazy!

  • Yeah, too many of them. It will only get crazier once everyone tries to offload their stock. The drive is worth it, as it comes with King Kong HD-DVD and universal remote. Handy even though you don't watch HD-DVDs.

  • sorry i'm a bit of a noob with this stuff, but is it possible just to hook this up with an LCD tv w/out Xbox or PC as a standalone HD DVD player??

    ie. plug component to component?

  • stonedewok, no you cannot hook it up directly to a TV. It's designed for an XBOX 360. With some hacking about you can get it to work on a PC (but you need to know what you're doing). It may only be a matter of time before standalone HD-DVD players for TVs are reduced, but I'd say stock levels will be low since many retailers are arranging returns with suppliers instead of selling the stock to consumers.

  • Waste of money IMO.

  • Is the hi-def site secure??

  • Does anyone know if these HDs enhance, in any way, ordinary DVDs played in them, like some of the HD-DVD players?

    • See the comments in this article.

      • Thanks, good article and like so many sites, even better comments.

    • I'm pretty sure most people are aware of it, hence they are picking up a cheap HD-DVD/DVD player with remote!

  • DSE has the drive for $49.95 now. JB sells it for around $48.
