Garden Spade Fiskars Xact Planting $10 (WAS $30) @ BUNNINGS

60

Was looking for a spade and found this one on clearance at Bunnings (Northmead). The cheapest one that was there was $10 so thought it was better to buy this instead since it's the same price. This one looked better in quality.

Couldn't find the item on the bunnings website but it has 25 year warranty. The tag says that it's for Edging and planting spade for normal soil - I guess no hard soil? and it's for person 165-175cm.

It has the TRY ME sticker so I had to try it and it has a rubber grip at the top. I couldn't really try digging the floor cause it was concrete.

Fiskars is a good brand. I've got a couple of their axes and they are a cut above average

Great support too, spring broke on my scissors and they sent out a new pair for no charge.

  • oops. already answered

I've got the white one in the picture. The design is ground-breaking!

    • So you dig it?

      • Buckets and SPADES above the rest

Don't hold your breath in finding this elsewhere, it's a yellow tag (store specific) not the orange variety (national).

      …calling a spade a spade.

      • And a tuba is not a tooba.

Thanks for my lunch time funny. Nice work.

  • I bought one of these when it was reduced to $30 from $60 or something. It's pretty good tool.
Be aware though, it says MEDIUM.
For some bizarre reason, Fiskars only brought the Medium size into Australia. It's slightly smaller than a standard spade, and suggested for people up to about 170cm tall.

suggested for people up to about 170cm tall

So basically it's only suitable for Tasmanians?

    • unless i'm in a really confined area i much prefer really long handled spades and shovels. nowhere near as much bending over

    • I'm 175cm, and for working in the garden, it's fine, but I'd want something bigger if I was taller or for other jobs.

  • i've never seen a spade blade that is pot-riveted. i'll take the left-most shovel in the photo :)

    • they aren't rivets. they're things for your boots to grip onto.

    • didn't even look at that cause it had a plastic handle + it didn't have a TRY ME sticker.

    • Is a pot rivet a pop rivet for pots?
