  • Booking more than 4mth ahead is usually not the best

Notice theyre also selling oct nov 2010 tix for the same price. That means youre unlikely to have to spend more by waiting till 1-4 mth before travel.

For Syd - London, second cheapest is with Etihad 1.826
It's a mater of taste between Cathay or Etihad. Both are great airlines with top notch service.

  • I usually wait about 2-3months before the flying date. They usually bring out specials by then.

  • Prices above are per person in Australian dollars for Economy Class travel from 1 April to 18 June 2011 and 12 September to 31 October 2011 including taxes and surcharges. Higher fares apply for other departure dates. Taxes and surcharges are subject to currency fluctuations. Fares differ according to departure date, origin city and destination.

Note those prices exclude peak period.

  • I just booked Perth to London in July school holidays - Singapore airlines was (& is) much cheaper than Cathay (& on an A380 for the long legs). This offer excludes peak periods, as Ambiguous says.
Have flown Cathay a few times Perth to HK, and IMHO the seats were the most uncomfortable I have ever sat in. They don't recline, the base just sort of slides forward…not for me.
Air Asia was about half the price in last weeks sale, and I had my finger on the buy button, but decided against.

    • The new cathay chairs are like that. They have their good and bad though. Eg. people infront of ya cannot piss you off with moving their chair right to your face.

I usually fly cathay or qantas, so not too sure what other airline chairs are like though.

However, nice thing is they are listening to customers, and looking for new ways to enhance and make these seats more comfortable.
