  • Is this a good deal?

it's ok but beware their "no refund" terms etc etc.

      • No refund but 30 days warranty

  • More or less how old is this model,?

    • ~6 years

$140 before code if you can live with a 250GB HDD: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-Optiplex-790-SFF-Core-i5-CPU…

    • That one has no OS, which makes it much worse value.

      • It has a COA on it so you can dl Windows and install a legit copy yourself.

You can use the 7 key to fresh install 10, and it will still activate.

I wouldn't use the preinstalled OS either, always wipe and fresh install.

  • eBay listing states:
Postage rates apply ONLY for metro SYDNEY/BRISBANE/MELBOURNE for all other areas please ask for a freight quote.

    Can you confirm?

    • Free postage

  • pretty sure it was cheaper last time

  • Do you think it is possible for a full size atx case instead of the sff mini pcie lanes?
    Cheers

    • Doubtful as offices would not be dealing with full size workstations in anywhere near the same numbers as SFF.

  • With the addition of a graphics card, would this be suitable for playing Steam games?
    If not, recommendations?

    • Probably worth specifying what games you're interested in.

        gTA 5?

        • No. The PSU is propriety and has very little head room to power a graphics card. Probably best if you seek out the manufacturers manual.

  • Could a gt 1030 fit in this machine? Easy gaming machine to play less intensive titles.

    • The 8200 has a rated power supply of 240w.. as stated here

      The 1030;
      Thermal and Power Specs:
97 CMaximum GPU Temperature (in C)
      30 WGraphics Card Power (W)
300 WMinimum Recommended System Power (W)

If you haven't; already, you'll have to look around the web for other's experiences

I have one of these machines as my homes primary internet/streaming and after a few upgrades it has been great.

    SSD for operating system
    Win 7 - Win 10

I haven't done yet, but it would benefit from 8gb of ram.

Their internal layout is clean, upgrades are plug and plug, provided you have the leads.

I bought it at Auction and paid a very similar price as listed here, maybe slightly higher, 18 months ago
