Optus ships with Startrack. You can track the order by going to https://optus.startrack.com.au(optus.startrack.com.au) and put in your order number that shows up on confirmation or from the email they send you immediately after the order. This only works after it has been shipped. If you live in a metropolian area and place your order before 1pm, you will get it next day otherwise you will get the order 2 business days after the order. If you live in a regional area, it is an extra 1 to 3 days.

These SIM's are useful for registering for Optus Pay which gets you a free prepaid visa card useful for trials and whatnot. You can register for Optus Perks as well.

  Has to be a loss leader for Optus. The Startrack shipping alone would cost them way more than $2. They must get the money back on the monthly fees.

    Port out so you can port in (useful for 'new' customer only deals)

    EDIT - just noticed it's $10 recharge minimum, so not great if you only want to port out

      This is why they are giving it away for free with a stipulation of a minimum $10 recharge upon activation. So they lock you in straight away for a service for atleast a month. It's a loss leader sale.

  Recharge required to activate SIM at a minimum cost of $10.

  Will this $10 last even if the credit is not being used, or will the credit expire after 1 month?

  Got a spare phone and was thinking of getting this sim card for a child to use in case of emergencies.
