Great deal, but I hesitate due to the new 8th intel chips.

This is hardly a device where you would ever notice difference between 7th and 8th gen and you'll pay double for a new model.

Apparently coffee lake is a huge leap up (50%) over 7th gen. But I don't know if that will apply to the mobile chips too.

  • How much is the keyboard?

  • Miix includes keyboard.
Surface Pro 4 i5 is on special $1199 including MS keyboard.

  • The main difference between Surface and Miix is that Surface is glued shut and you can't open it without destroying, while Miix can be easily opened and parts removed.

That's quite and advantage if you smashed your tablet and need data retrieved from it, with Miix you simply remove M.2 SSD and plug it somewhere else, with Surface you can forget about it unless you're prepared to spend $$$.

Other than that they're pretty much identical devices.
