780

Looks like another round of these but as far as I can tell it's unlimited ??

Items must be listed and available for purchase by 23:59 (AEST) on 30 Sept 2017 in order to qualify for the promotion.

What is the promotion?
Pay no Insertion Fees or Final Value Fees for ANY items you list and make available for purchase in a single category during the Promotion Period (see exclusions below).

I missed out, use this link to test if you're targeted or not.

    • +1

      thanks, worked

    • Cheers bud :)

    • I had no invitation sent to me yet your link worked on my 2 accounts.
Comes up as 0 used/0 left , but as you list used count goes up and left stays at zero (unlimited)

    • That link didn't work for me but when I went to https://www.ebay.com.au/sl/sell?sr=wnstart

It allowed me to activate the offer.

  • +1

Unfortunately, this promotional offer is by invitation only.

  • -1

This will screw up like their last one.

    • how so?

      • +1

When listing something it wouldn't come off the promotion and would instead come from 40 free listings.

And items set to automatically relist would come out of the promo when relisted, which completely screws everything up and gives you no control.

        • +2

This^^ Had to get eBay on the chat today to get credits for several items that were listed after I signed up for the previous 10 fee-free listings promo, but came off the regular 40 free listings and so incurred FVF. The fixed it quick smart though - have obviously had to do this a few times recently.

        • @dm01:

It's a pain in the arse because I have over 40 things listed and they are all set to automatically relist.

So I've had to keep a record of all the item numbers and dates, then I'll have to wait until they're sold and email eBay for a credit.

They're pretty good about it as you've said but it's a pain.

        • @Scab:

Oh I feel your pain! I had to do the same today with the things I'd sold since signing up for the promo - what had sold since but was listed before, what sold since but was listed after…double check the listing numbers etc…and that was just to get credits for three items. Yours would be much messier.

I do feel like eBay's customer service have been stepping it up lately, though - I've had to get in touch with them a few times recently, and all been good experiences, resolved quickly. I suspect the imminent arrival of Amazon is affecting many aspects of their business, not just the guys inventing promo codes…everyone has gotta bring their game!

        • @dm01:

It hurts my brain just thinking about it.

        • agree. eBay is the most sneakiest bastards I've ever come across. unfortunately they're also one of the good ones (and secure). I'm just waiting to see the next big thing to come up and then adios ebay.

  • This promotion does not apply to “Excluded Categories” which include Businesses for Sale (11759), Aircrafts (63676), Boats (26429), Caravans/Motorhomes (32633), Cars (29690), Motorcycles (32073), Trucks/Commercial Vehicles (6049), Real Estate (10542), Services (316), Flights (3253), Tickets (1305), Travel (3252) and Vouchers/Gift Certificates (172008).

    So not 'ANY'.

  • but as far as I can tell it's unlimited ??

yeah mine says 0 used 0 left after I accepted :S

  • Mine is for 10 items expires 8/10.

    • Thats a different promotion - I have that one and this one listed

      • So you can use both?

        • Hopefully I will sell something in the next day or two and will know - both seem to be running at the same time though

  • +1

Theres some weird bugs going on with EBay and their promos though - i've also got this listed
AU C2C 10 FLS Spring Clean 20170901 Drive iGMV, increase # of listings from pure buyers and existing sellers incl churned

with some other users also discussing it here https://community.ebay.com.au/t5/Selling/Here-s-an-interesti…

    • I've had that for weeks.

  • +1

Much appreciated! I was hoping to list some things for later tonight. This coincides nicely

  • +1

Cheers OP. Keep an eye on your account tho last offer of 10 freebies is messed up. Keeps charging and had to contact them to get the fees credited. And it still keeps charging so hasn't been fixed up. Bit of a hassle to keep following it up.

  • +1

    don't forget about paypal fees.

  • I have it on 1 account but not the other lol.

  • Tried to add this previously and eBay said it was already active on my account. Then I sold something the other day (buy-it-now with seperate postage) and I still paid a total of 13% fees split over PayPal and eBay.

eBay’s standard fees specified on ebay.com.au continue to apply.

    🤔

    • The way they do it is to still charge you but you will receive a promo credit in your monthly invoice (you can see if something sold has come out of the promo in your landing page at the bottom under Promotional Offers).

eBay’s standard fees specified on ebay.com.au continue to apply

What that means is that fees for extras to your ad apply, but for a standard ad there is no Insertion or FVF.

      • Thanks but now I’m more confused.
        I shall stick to buying!

        • It's pretty simple, just place an ad but don't buy extras.

All you will have to pay is PayPal fees.

  • What if someone buys it with -18%? eBay has to cover 18% of the cost without any profit?

    • +1

I'm sure they won't go hungry.

      • Oh I wasn't worried about that, I was thinking of the possible deals. When things can be sold without the ~10% fees that's a further 10% off for us, making the 18% a true 18% saving.

        • I prefer to think it as everybody has an extra 18% to spend and businesses can jack prices or sellers receive higher prices in auctions.

        • @Levity:

You're thinking of the 20% off sales where businesses cover ~10% and eBay covers ~10% (basically covered by the fees they charge). Usually the retailer marks up prices by ~11% to cover their part of the cost, so it's basically just eBay giving the sellers fee to the buyer.
Total: 0% if prices upped / ~10% if prices unchanged.

(eBay prices are usually ~10% higher than their main stores due to seller fees)

This is the seller paying no fees and eBay covering 18%. The seller doesn't need to up prices to cover eBay fees or the extra charge seen with 20% specials.

          Total: 18% saving.

  • How about those invitees post "Virtual" items for sale and ask their friends/families to buy them during today's this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/330827 . You can make nice little profit. Unfortunately I missed out.

    • +1

Surely they wouldn't be that silly…but I can see where you are coming from ;)

    • +3

Nice way to get your account shut down if you get caught.

      • +2

Thats right and banned for life. ebay will follow you around like a mangy dog and close any account.
Basically, would not even consider doing that.

        • are you being sarcastic, because there's money to be made from fleabay!

        • @Alfonso:
No they will literally close any accounts you have and any more you open

        • @King Tightarse:

how will they know if its not the same household?

  • ebay support

I am sorry to inform you that due to some technical issue many members are being charged even after free listing available in account.
I would like to inform you that this has already been escalated to the technical team and they are working on it.

  • +1

    Get your shit together Ebay.

  • -1

Insertion fee sounds like something you might be forced to pay for dropping the soap in prison.

  • i got targetted for the last one and was the sole reason i listed an iphone i had lying around. sold it and got free insertion fee but billed $40 for final value fee @9.5% or whatever ripoff merchant rate it is…

so a double bend over as the deal was lies and it reminded me why i dont waste my time on ebay anymore because there final value fees are (profanity) outrageous….. die.

    • +3

Go and live chat immediately with ebay and they will credit you the $40 fee.

      • done & done, cheers bro. first they tried to claim it was in excluded categories, but it clearly wasn't.

        • Great work, glad it worked out for you. That happened with me but they usually give in to avoid any hassle :)

  • Not available to me - not surprised. Anyway, to benefit from it, you still need to manage to sell the items. feeBay offered me 3 items last time. However, only managed to sell one item. Also, don't forget Paypal fees still apply.

  • So list something buy-it-now for $2500 which no one will buy, make another account and buy it tonight using 18% off code, and you profit ~$375 after paypal fees?

    Anyone done this?

    • Imagine you did this one million times you'd have 375million less PayPal fees!

  • Hey Guys,. I had my eye on a PC, costing $450. It had a 'Make an Offer" button on the listing. As soon as I made an offer of $425, the offer was declined. I revisited the listing a short time later and the offer price was $550. When I questioned the seller, he said that the price was not negotiable during the 20% off sale. I knew nothing about the 20% at that point. I'm not happy, what do you guys think?

    • Think of what? Seller can do whatever he wants with his item.

      • True, but what's the point of a 20% off sale, when the seller jacks the price up 22%!

  • Hi can someone please tell me what does in a single category mean? For example, if I have the sell 10 for free, but listing in a single category, does that mean if I list my iPhone as my first item, the other 9 item I will list have to be mobiles to get free ebay fee charge? Thanks

  • +1

Does anyone know whether, if I begin an auction before 23:59 (AEST) on 30 Sept 2017, and it ends 7 days later (say, 6th of October), whether it will still be included in the promotion (i.e. I won't have to pay any fees)? I have a whole bunch of items I'd like to auction off and was lucky enough to have been offered the deal. Thanks in advance!

    • +1

Hey crs, I wondered the same thing - I think as it states this in the fine print you should be fine

'Good ‘Til Cancelled listings created during the Promotion Period will be eligible for the promotion only until the listing automatically re-lists.'

Like to know what others think though as i'm also thinking of loading up a few listings before the cutoff and am hoping they will be FVF free

  • Just a heads up guys - happened to me last time and just happened to me again.
Sold an item after taking advantage of this offer - they still added the fees to my account.
Told chat and they said there was a technical error and credited me the fees.
Check your account statements to make sure you arent charged :)

    • +1

This is annoying, would be so much easier for everyone if the system just worked

  • Hi guys, I just got invoices for selling. Called customer service who are crediting the invoice/cancelling so beware…….bet many people don't notice and get charged.

    • same issue here, will contact them. thanks for heads up
