whoa… those specs are very good (at least for my gaming needs).

How would this go as a work computer for photoshop and videoediting in premiere? Im not buying any macbooks with their nonupgradable parts.

    • I think it will go extremely well. You can always upgrade and put more RAM in down the track as well. There are 4xRAM slots. I would recommend getting 16GB RAM at the start though. You won't void the warranty if you open up a Metabox laptop and upgrade the RAM, HDD, SSD or Wi-Fi card.
Personally I do think that a faster 7200RPM 1TB or 7200RPM 500GB HDD would be better than the standard 5400RPM HDD that's in the base config.

  • Any you would recommend that also would be a good hackintosh?

  • I have been eyeing on this spec for awhile now. What I am curious about is how good is the speaker?

Understand that laptop speaker in general is rather weak and can be easily replaced by an external (or bluetooth) speaker. However, ever since getting my old dell xps laptop: https://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Dell-XPS-15-Notebook-i5… i became rather picky when it comes to laptop speaker.

    • That's true, laptop speakers are generally the weakest part of laptops. It comes down to limited space. A good external pair of speakers or good headset for gaming and music is recommended or a better choice.

Thanks Rep for the eBay option - I just picked up one with 16Gb upgrade added coming to $1696.58 with the PARTY18 discount which is great for these specs. It is actually for my teenage son who is learning Unity coding (and is a gamer of course). I said I'd match him dollar-for-dollar the $750 he had saved, but this was too good to pass up. I'll have to get him to do a few more letterbox drops to catch up the rest!

    • Fantastic, thanks for posting. Yeah it was a bit of a rush in the afternoon getting it all sorted in time. Your son is going to love this laptop. It's very upgrade-able with RAM and SSD/HDD's. So should last him a while.
      Cheers
