Now That The eBay Sale Is over

As per the title, What did you end up buying, if anything at all.
I had to take myself away from my computer for the last few hours to help myself :/

So.. What did you pick up?

        • Enjoy - a film MF camera did cross my mind as well but most of the ones I've ever considered were more around the 1,000 mark.

        • +1

@mooboy: there's quite a few decent ones around $500 eg mamiya Fuji bronica, I'm just getting this because I already have a 500 series and wanted a 200 series for auto exposure and taking portraits with the 110mm f2. I still love the 500 series though, if you can stretch your budget I'd definitely recommend it.

        • I have half a roll of film sitting in a Canon A1 for so long I can barely remember putting it in. I think my time budget only extends as far as digital these days, but I'd still love to spend more time with film if I get a chance.

  • Nothing. I could have found things to buy but I mostly want things I need to see in person before buying.

2 x B&D Sectional Garage Door Opener CADS Tri Tran - INCLUDED BELT RAIL for $339 each delivered.

Previous quotes were all above $494 each with the Belt Rail or $450 with the chain.

Would have liked more time to research, but couldn't justify the extra price for the advance unit where you had to buy the belt drive as an extra add on kit.

    • ohh.. I should have gotten the that as well. well.. next sale!

I sold a Product to a friend for $3000 so we could go halvies on the $500 ebay profit. Had a free listing offer so that helped. But PayPal fees ripped down a bit :(

    • how does that work? I missed the ebay deal

      • +2

        sr8rippinpro sold $3000 items to a friend, just say eBay fees is 10% and paypal is 3%, so sr8rippinpro will receive $3000-fees $300-paypal $90 = $2610

        His friend pays $3000-18% discount = $2460

Thus there is $2610-$2460 = $150 to share among them. This profit is better again if sr8rippinpro has store subscription where there is discount in eBay fees and again if paypal fees discount if you have monthly volume.

I personally do not support this kind of idea, if you're seller, you should thank eBay as it has do their best to make sure the site has traffics coming.

        • +2

It is immoral tricks like that ruin it for everyone in the long-term. Management will have no other choice but to shut down the deals when more start doing it.

        • -1

wow thanks for the calcs but that's a lot of work and tracking all in the end to make a lousy 150 $ profit.

I don't have a problem with them doing it, heck ebay is in it to make money, if this works for them so be it.

    • True ozbargainer right here lol

    • +1

eBay can reverse the sale and permanently ban you if they found out the person buying it was friend you know in real life.

Usually the only proof they have is if it's clearly someone from the same family, or if the person buying has the same address.

It's in their Terms and Conditions.

      • All that and eBay can't vet if the retailers are jacking up the prices just before sale OR if they are offering REAL discounts at all? Unbelievable, mate.

All this hurts eBay's reputation more than that of retailers.

  • The usual, a GPU and Lego set @ 20% off.

  • I bought a few board games that were featured on the YouTube series that Wil Wheaton created called TableTop. They looked really good and I'm looking forward to experiencing them with my friends! :)

      Which did you go for?

      • Lanterns: The Harvest Festival, Qwerkle, Harbour, and Star Fluxx. I'd already bought Sheriff of Nottingham, Forbidden Desert, Legendary, and Pandemic before the sale.

Urgh I missed it as I was on holiday in Tassie with no signal!

  • I bought a shed but the checkout insisted I contact seller for invoice, so by the time they respond the sale is over. Have contacted Ebay to try and get another coupon, is this likely?

  • A 2nd hand but mint iphone 7 plus 32GB for $665 delivered.

  • I wanted to buy a Switch but they were all overpriced :-( There was one well priced one but I think I was too slow, it was out of stock. I was tempted on some other things but I didn't know what the "right" price was to know if it was a bargain or not, so held off.

When an eBay sale comes up again I'll do some research on things I want so I know what the right price is and can go into it properly informed.

Couldn't believe my luck, I had been stacking things up in my cart, and had won several pricey auctions, so when I saw 18% off, I thought yes.

Only problem was I didn't have much money in my PayPal connected bank account, one quick trip to the local cash deposit ATM, and presto I saved a heap.

It was just a fluke I checked OZbargain just after the commencement time.

I've been waiting for a 20% sitewide, thinking we'd seen the last of them.
    18% did me fine.

  • Kogan portable air conditioner. More expensive on eBay that on Kogan's site, but eBay includes postage in the price. After the 18% discount it's well under the official web site price, and undercuts the competition by a long way.

    • Keep its warranty information at hand, it did not last long for me. Good luck!

      • Which model did you buy and how did it fail? I'm considering asking Kogan for a 3 year warranty on it ($56, inc shipping costs) as it wasn't an option during eBay checkout.

        • it was portable ac/heater model. cant remember the model number; think it was 14K btu or something like that.
Used it 3-4 times in a year as cooler.
next year got it out to finally use it as heater and just plugged it in and powered on from wall- and it smelled and something blasted inside.
Well - it make just be a fuse. But I have not gotten around to open it up yet.

        • @superm86: I've had a few PCs go like that. Pop, flash, smoke, stench. Often a poor quality capacitor blowing in the power supply.

        • @Cluster: ez fix?

        • +1

@superm86: Maybe… open the power supply unit and look for any obviously burnt components. Should be able to buy them online. Requires soldering skills and care working around AC line voltage components. Short circuit the pins of large capacitors in the power supply with a screw driver to discharge them before working on it. If in doubt, seek help.

Lots of advice online: www.instructables.com/id/Repair-your-electronics-by-replacin… Your unit will have much larger capacitors. It's possible another component has died, but since you had a flash and bang it should be pretty obvious what died.

        • @superm86:
Theres a mechanism that mechanically pushes a valve, to reverse the flow of the refrigerant. I would be starting with that, or the circuitry that controls it. Its not as easy as Cluster makes it out to be though
