  • ANA's Experience Japan deal is essentially the same as this.

    • What deal? Can you send the link pls?

      • Just google it, very easy to do

      • try airdo as well, from memory if you book >60days in advance, it's cheaper than ANA/JAL's deal for foreign tourists. it's jap online booking website so use google translate

  • How does flying compare with trains in Japan?

    • +11

      It's higher.

      • Do the local laws not apply on internal flights or is the section out of date?

    • +1

A flight is required to get to Okinawa
and its much quicker and cheaper to fly to Hokkaido as thats not on the rail pass

      • Hokkaido is on the rail pass. Almost everywhere is. If you mean there isn't a Shinkansen all the way to Sapporo and beyond that is correct.
Shinkansen to Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto then a Limited Express 4 hours from there.

        • the trains around Hokkaido are pretty few and far between

@damoo: Have never had a problem. Fine to Asahikawa and Furano. And can get to Hakodate and Sapporo easily obviously. Can also go all the way to Abashiri. Most other places for tourists would need a car.
