Agree, bought two J7 Primes for in-laws and both work fine for them. Great for everyday tasks.
black single sim S7 (import) can be purchased from ebay (power20) at $488. however at the ~$500 price range nothing beats the LG G6 unless you're looking for a rootable device then go for the S7.
at the $300 price range id be hunting around for an S6. brand new you're looking at ~$350 (power20) and refurbs can be found at under $300.

I wonder if thats because the circuitry is left out, or just that they didn't bother to have a double sim slot because it might confuse people.. in which case one of these might work

Personally no not a 14yr old, a cheaper phone should be good enough for them
Samsung J series is pretty good with respect to its prices, especially J7 prime. I have used it. It has a works swiftly and has a good camera, may cause problems with heavy games.
