    • +10

+1, never seen it that cheap.

  • +6

Best presentation, seriously, show Coles and get some Commission for this excellent effort
BTW, yours is way better than catalogues because i shows precise % off!!!!!!!!!

  • +1

    Thanks again, Fergus.

    • +17

how about a positive vote from you!!!!??

      • Indeed, well picked ash200. I'm certain I voted - maybe the Java is screwed on my browser.

        • Yeah I gather that may have been the case!! :)

  • +5

Thanks again Fergus, saves me from looking through junk mail. Now I just open OZB on my iPhone before entering Coles.

I'd like to add that all Perth Coles stores will be open till 9pm commencing November 1 as well.

  • +2

Practical items with over 60% off, excellent stuff.

This formatting is fantastic for actually comparing the bargain-ness with the %%. Love it! (Especially with those tricky 3 for $~ items that confuse how much you're actually saving on each item.)

Great buy on the peanut butter.

    Thanks again!

    • +1

and you'd rather have each item listed separately?

    • +1

      What's too long?

    • +24

It is a long one this week.

I list supermarket items based on their percentage discount, not listing items lower than 25% discount off standard price. I have set 25% as an objective benchmark which I think is a fair balance between listing everything and listing just the most outstanding individual items.

I always list the items in decreasing order of percentage discount. If you don't have the will to read the whole list, start from the top and stop when you've had enough.

It takes a non-trivial amount of time to type up the catalogue I get in the letter box, so I hope people find it useful. I appreciate any comments.

      • +10

Man, again bloody awesome job, so easy to follow…….love the descending order on the savings….

      • +7

Good job. Don't worry about one / or two people here. You can't really make everyone happy. So long as so many people are still finding this useful, keep it up.

        Cheers.

PS: Where have you been these past few days? Have you filled out the annual leave form? :)

mod - replaced link to thread with link to the comment :)

      • Thanks mod :)

…really need to learn about the more 'intermediate' stuff like this. Don't even know how to use "bold" until now :s

    • -1

      I call troll

  • +3

WOW, Gatorade is beyond a bargain!

Hope they have excessive stock of it ;)

  • I think it's time for us to have a toast.

  • +1

man i'm gonna clean up on that gatorade

  • Gimme Gatorade, Lime is the best, Bolt flavour isn't that good. Don't believe the hype

    • bolt really isnt that good, tastes sort of little too much sodium, not that refreshing. not sure about the "blue bolt".
THEY HAVE HEAPS AND HEAPS of GATORADES (boxes&boxes), dont worry people, and they stack up again every night.

  • How did you get the spacing so neat? I tried doing tables but it didn't work

  • +1

If you haven't tried it, Garnier Mineral Anti-Perspirant Deodorant is fantastic

  • thanks dude. fantastic

  • +1

I love you Fergus! I have to admit I joined OzB simply because of people like you :)

The Gatorade is a fantastic deal - gonna stock up on some! - but the Fantastic rice crackers are also excellent! I've only seen that price at clearance shops where they're hovering close to the best before date.

    • re the crackers

might be the same thing at coles i.e. close to the BB date.. bloody hell they should be charged with indirectly attempted manslaughter given what that recent half-price doritos sale has done to my throat!

      :p

      • Eh… just picked up three packets today and they're all expiring mid-2011 - so no worries about the BB date, it seems. Anyway I once ate a packet about a week past the date and it still tasted perfectly fine!

  • The Pro dental toothpaste is great, got it last time it was cheap, I'm stocking up this time round.

  • It's still here: Dettol No Touch Hand Wash Systems 1pk $9.00 (save $10.99, 55%)……

    Can't contravene OzBargain's humble opinion lol~

  • +1

    thank you fergus.. :)

  • thanks! You're a star!

(Do you use Excel to format the text so neatly or is it all manual?)

    • +1

In ozbargain you can format the text with the "|" character like…

      aaa bbb
      1 2
      3 4

Look at the "markdown extra" examples.

    'Coles, CBA shamed at Shonkys'

    Excerpt:
"The not-so-prestigious prize has been given to Coles for its "under $10 meal promotion", fronted by celebrity chef Curtis Stone."

"Choice says the recipes in the promotion require ingredients which actually make the meal cost up to triple the price that Coles quotes."

  • What's the deal with the rain check policy at Coles?

Can you get a rain check for say, 50 gatorates if they sell out?

Or can you only get a rain check for 1 item?

    • I've rainchecked 15 items before, so it should be fine.

      • I've never even heard of this before, that's awesome. So you just goto the customer service desk and say you wanted to buy 'x' amount of a certain product that was on sale and receive a voucher that allows you to buy them at that price in the future?
        Is that the general gist?

        • Only if they don't have it in stock, and if it didn't say "no raincheck" on the catalogue.
          But generally, yes you can.

        • At my local Coles and Woolworths, they limit the raincheck to 6 items and steadfastly refuse to allow more than that. In such cases, I am usually shopping with my beloved so I request 12 and they won't give them to me but they will give us 6 each without any grief. Mind you, my local supermarkets do appear to have a hiring policy of "dumb monkeys only" in the customer service area.

I've given up trying to explain their stupid policy to them and have been known to simply get a 6-item raincheck, then step back 1 metre, step forward again and ask for another one (no, I was not just here - that must have been my identical twin).

    • they got mountains of gatorades, no need rain check

  • I’ve rainchecked 10 indian currys before valid for 30 days at any coles

  • +4

am i the only one reading the Coles White Batard 200g as "Bastard"?

    • +6

No. I made a point of shouting out "OMG white bastards are cheap at Coles". Yes, I'm an idiot.

    • +1

If they've run out of Coles White Bastards at my local Coles, I'll just get a few on raincheck next time I'm in

      • +3

as someone in customer service, I can assure you, they won't run out of white bastards any time soon.

  • fergus!!!!!!!!!

  • It's really wonderful.

  • Stay away from the dettol thing as its a way of getting you to commit to overpriced refill cartridges in the future. Maybe get some Gatorade… what else..

    • +1

I cant understand the handless need. If I touch it and it has germs on it from the previous user, shouldn't using the product kill the germs anyway?……

      • +2

speaks into wristwatch microphone "Another one's onto us boss, soon everyone will know that this is a complete waste!"

      • I agree. It almost screams "this product does not work"…

        • On my visit to Japan I saw some marvelous things:

Put your hand under one sensor - antibacterial soap, another sensor for water and then another sensor for a hand dryer, all in the one sink.

Point being: It's funny that people consider it a waste here, where it is literally everywhere in Japan as the norm.

        • @AUNA when we are in Japan we don't pay to use it. Waste of money for buying it.

  • Fergus, thanks for your efforts. There are some good deals there. I might pick up a few things today,
    Cheers,
    Varun Pant

    • they told me limit of 12!! lucky i was coming from another coles searching for more of the good flavours and i only needed 12. purple ones are so rare

  • Picked up 5 cartons of gatorade hooo!

  • Spent $26 today - would have cost me more than double that if not for this post.

  • it must take bit of time for you to write all of that… good work

  • +2

I work at coles, sold literally 100 boxes of Gatorade in a couple of hours. Damn you guys, slow down!!

  • How come this Pacific West Beer Battered Fish Fillets 230g only $2.00 (save $1.98, 50%)? in Victoria that's $3 :( anyway thanks for the list so I know there's difference.
