  • I need more eneloops. What are the going rates on the OZB Exchange these days? Pack of 8 AA's?

    • I need more AAA eneloops, I missed Dick Smith.

      • me to…

      • DSE was the best. I need both AA & AAA's too. I hope whoever is reading
this knows that there is a ready-and-willing market for them.
8-packs or more. C'mon all those great folks. Help us.
Throw in a smart charger too, please.

  • postage costs $9 sadly

  • +2

Dude, this is an awesome deal. Ordered already! Good find!

  • Now this is by jam!

  • Is this one of their smart chargers?

    • +5

No this is a little battery cooker (dumb charger) - so is the one EC posted above
Its cheap but I wouls still suggest you buy a smart charger instead and get full value and proper lifespan from your batteries

  • This or Ikea Laddas?

    • +1

The Ikea Laddas are made in Japan, whereas the Panasonic Eneloops are made in China. It's likely the Ikea Laddas are the old Sanyo Eneloops and made by the same factory. I will go for the Ikea Laddas.

    • I have the Ikea Laddas and Panasonic Eneloops, I find the Ikea one loses battery quicker.

    • +1

IKEA Ladda high-capacity ones have only 500 cycles. They are likely the old Sanyo eneloops lite (water-down version). As new Made-in-Japan eneloop has 2100 cycles.

I hope TA could organize a better Made-in-Japan eneloops deal for AA and AAA.

      • The IKEA Ladda high-capacity will be equivalent to the Eneloop Pro with the higher capacity and also 500 cycles.

      • Does that mean the battery is no good after using & charging 500 times?

        • +1

I want to know how many years 500 cycles will last you.

For me that's at least 10 years. Probably more. 10 years is 50 cycles a year. There's nothing that I use AA for that drains quicker than that.

    • Are Ladda 1000 better value for kid's toys?
      Anybody have info on these?

4 x AA $4.99 "You can recharge these batteries approx. 1500 times."

The charger is rubbish. You don't know when the batteries are charged, removing a battery and placing it back in the slot will re-start the charing LED.

    • +8

Crap price since the charger is apparently rubbish? Why pay $8 for 2 eneloops?

      • +1

        Exactly.

      • Exactly right. If you take a battery out and put it in again or put a half discharged battery it it, it will give a full 8 hour charge and damage the batteries every time.
It only works (sort of) with completely discharged batteries and no interruptions.

        • I'm guessing that even if your power cuts out for half a second or so (which is surprisingly common in some Melbourne suburbs with old power infrastructure!), WHAMMO, your charging restarts again for a full 8 hours. All the posts above to the effect of "don't bother with a 'dumb' charger" are completely on the money. Seriously dudes, once you have a 'smart' one, you will absolutely never look back. There are so many reasons to own at least one 'smart' charger, and virtually no reasons to own a single 'dumb' one. The potential/possible saving of $5 or $10 on the initial purchase price is FAR OUTWEIGHED by all the benefits of a smart charger, some of which are financial, and all of which are ongoing long after the initial purchase.

When was the last time eneelops were on the front page!

    • Hmmm.. I don't know about the last time but there was a lot of eneloops on 1/4/17!

  • -4

Looking for eneloops is living in the past. These days the smart kids are buying cheap IKEA rechargeables as they are rebadged eneloops.

    • +3

      Any proof of this?

      • -5

enough, but neg votes don't get the honey!

  • +2

Never off my "front page". :)

    All hail Lord 'Loop san.

  • You can buy 4 x LADDA batteries from Ikea for $8.99, these are suspected to be rebadged Eneloops but are great batteries in their own right anyway.

A smart charger like the MAHA MH-c9000 is a must also if you want to take care of your batteries.

For those seeking AAA Ikea sell those too.

    • +5

But then you have to go through the crappy maze that is ikea

      • +3

You get two more batteries for almost the same price and the maze is thrown in for free, you're just not thinking like an Ozbargainer ;-)

        • Actually went to ikea looking for these a while back and couldn't find them.perhaps oos?

      • What, you don't know where the shortcuts at your ikea are?

        • I know of one. Have never located the full battery range

        • @tomkun01: Batteries are in Lighting :p

  • Takes 10 hours to charge 2000mAh?

  • Still got about 30 packs of 4 dick Smith AA rechargeables I bought on sellout for $1.40 a 4 pack. I buy too much Crap when its a bargain and it just fills up my shelves.

    • +2

      They outlasted Dick himself.

  • ENELOOPS!!!! Any deals on triple a batteries?

  • Someone bought 40 in 1 go -_-

    • +1

      Broden'd

  • +1

Thanks op!! I thought eneloops were extinct!! Wish they had Bing Lee in qld

  • +3

So basically $4 per battery as the charger is worthless.. may as well just get Turnigy AA's instead? Not sure why this is getting so many upvotes.

    • because this is OzBargain's currency bro…lol

    • You are correct porterhouse, there is no deal here. What this offer is, is two dramatically overpriced batteries with a device thrown in that will inevitably ensure that they die a premature death.

  • +2

Aaaah Mr Eneloop.. We meet again. Come join your hundreds of brothers I brought home.

  • I have one of the original Eneloop Charger new in packed from the old original Dicksmith days….. the good old Eneloop Ozbargain days.

    But it has 4 batteries.

  • It looks like the deal is up again, at least for the moment!

  • Which smart charger is the Ozb consensus choice?

        • -1

      • -1

Thanks! I need to get my Ozb membership ratified by getting that and some eneloops/LADDAs.

    • +1

Which smart charger is the Ozb consensus choice?

There is only very rarely anything resembling a 'consensus' on OzB, but I can tell you that I own at least 5 different 'smart chargers' (don't ask), as well as even more 'dumb' ones (which are really not worth a mention these days), and of ALL of my chargers the best one is by far my 'OPUS, BT-C3100 (V2.2)' charger. It has ALL the charging/discharging functions you could ever want, a cooling fan, separately monitored slots for each battery, an informative LCD display for each slot, it recharges NiMH, NiCD and Li-ion batteries, etc. It does not charge C, D or 9V (so-called 'square') batteries though, so if you need to recharge those, you need to look for something else.

      • Gnarly man! I'll look into it.

      • Thank you for the info also, I'll look into it also. Where to buy?
