lol wtf why is Perth more expensive

    • +1

Because they're via Melbourne, not direct.

      • ah that would make sense, don't mind me Xd

  • Anyone find these available on the Virgin website or business portal, or only on IWTF?

    • Found Sydney return for $520 March 7-14 when I looked on the Virgin website 🤔

      • Yeah i noticed flights generally $50 more on Virgin's website with exact same dates as IWTF…

  • Awesome flights! Not sure why BNE is cheaper than HBA though ha ha

  • Are these full service flights?

    • Yes.

Stumbled across these fares this afternoon by accident while trying to book the deal via wotif (flying QF). Ended up with cheaper fare on VA from Melbourne via iwantthatflight (Byojet), use code SPRING30 for extra $30 off, paid $415 plus PayPal fee so total came to $419 flying 5-22 March 2018. Sorry for late post, only realised now. And in case you weren’t aware, VA baggage allowance on these flights are 2 pieces @ 23kgs per piece (same allowance as travelling to US) - bonus if you’re planning to shop up a storm :-)

  • What are people's experiences with purchasing tickets from the online sellers like BYOjet and wotif? Is it safer to just buy from VA directly or through these types of websites?

    • If you’re scared you can just get officeworks to price match

And by officeworks I mean flight centre…

    • I’ve been using BYOJet for years and have had no issues or problems. Have never had to call them for any reason as tickets are issued instantly on payment acceptance. BYOJet don’t have booking fees either and their credit fees are low. Avoid Bestjet though…worst customer service if you need to call them for any reason.

      • Ooh thank you for that!! Are you able to select seats? I went to check out but they never gave me that option.

        • Sorry for the late response - didn’t see your comment til now. Yes, once BYOJet send you confirmed itinerary, you can use the Virgin Australia reference number on the Virgin website to choose your seats free (standard seats).

I read quite a bit of forums on these sites, from what I gathered, as long as you don't need to change anything once you book, you are ok. Its when you need something change or trying to get a refund then all hell break loose.

  • Does anyone know how long these prices will last? I am keen to book but waiting confirmation on some other people.

  • any deals around late Nov to early Dec? possibly to shanghai as well? missed out the deals earlier the year :(

    booked, march 9-18, MEL-HKG return.
paid $426pp for 2 of us, used code SIGNMEUP30 and used Paypal to process my Amex because the paypal fees are lower than the amex fees (love it…)

    thanks TA! :)

another year, another birthday in a foreign country :D

  • Can someone helps me to understand how does the deal work? Can I choose freely on the departure and return dates or I have to go by the set dates? For example Sydney to HK depart on 16th n return on 22nd? Coz I found some strange dates like depart on 5th n return on 6th! Also I want to stay longer than 2 weeks…

    • it'll vary a bit, eg: if i booked outbound on the 9th of March but wanted to come back on the Saturday (17th) then it was going to be ~$550 return rather than $426. by staying a day later and coming home on sunday (eg: arrive monday morning) i saved $100+ on the flight

the problem you'll have is that if you fly out on the 16th and want to stay a little over 2 weeks, that puts you in easter / school holiday territory.

so you can kind of choose freely in some respects but some dates/days are more expensive than others… gotta be flexible with your itinerary if you want super cheap flights :D
