  • Please state its $15 per month

    • I don't think it is. Maybe wrong.

      EDIT:
Sorry, it is $90 for 6 months.

    • Definitely state this, I thought it was $15 for 6 months and was going to make a rush purchase before leaving for uni.

      • If you clicked on the link you would have seen this wasn't the case within ten seconds.

It's actually $15 per 28 days, this needs to be clear as dodgy Amaysim squeezes an extra bill cycle each year, 13 instead of the typical 12 bills per year. This sort of behaviour should be stamped out.

      • That's why I quit Amaysim. My month billing cycle suddenly became every 28 days with them stating "but we're giving you more data!".

  • ……..on the Optus 4G network.

    groupon offer is much cheaper.

    • Wish i could buy another one… :S

  • +1

Groupon is $25 for 6 months, I am waiting for the sim.

    • I'm currently with Amaysim. If i port out to another provider and then port in to Amaysim again, would I count as a "New Customer"?

      • +1

        short answer is yes

      • +1

Yes, but you need to register with Amaysim using a NEW email address.
Can't use back your current email.

If you are using gmail, a trick would be to use "." or "+".
For example, if your email address is "[email protected]", you could instead use "my.[email protected]" or "[email protected]".
You don't have to open a new email account. Any mail sent to those aliases will go directly into your regular email account.

    • link?

    • Bought one from last deal, waited whole week and nothing in mailbox, called them and was told to buy a $2 sim from anywhere and they will credit back.

  • Does anybody know of any data plans that i can use overseas? Or would my only option be to get a local sim card with a data plan?

I'm traveling to India in a month & i have heard its quite hard to get a sim for tourists

    • +1

You'd be so much better off getting a local SIM in India. Data is much cheaper there. Just ask for JIO or a similar plan from other providers (Airtel, Vodafone, BSNL) once you get there. Here's an example: https://www.ndtv.com/business/jio-effect-at-rs-199-airtel-of…

      • Thanks for the reply. I like the one for 399 with 70GB of data over 70 days however it all seems to have a max of 1GB a day. Is it possible for a tourist to get a local sim?

        • +1

This article should have all the info you need.

Yea the 1GB per day is to prevent abuse.

        • @starbearer: thanks for that. It was very helpful. Unfortunately the airport i am arriving at isnt listed for the free sim card, but i shall go to a local store & try to get one using my passport copy. Thanks for all your help, much appreciated.

Search for sim corner, plenty of choices. I paid 30 bucks for 5gb, with some calls. Local sims are almost always better value mind, most third world places I've been to, buying a pack of cigarettes easily let's you purchase, and activate a local sim. Ask the nice girl behind the counter, and don't forget to smile…

      • Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately i have looked at simcorner before & they are out of stock for prepaid sim cards for India. Im planning on trying to get a sim card once i get there.

i hate this 6 month honeymoon crap deal

    same with their nbn plan

    • +2

Just port out at the end then.

  • There is no Lock in contract. If you wish to cancel it after 6 months they gonna charge you only for the 6th full month.Apart from that not any extra charge as they advised on phone. So better deal to call Overseas for $15 per month Unlimited and locally.Too

  • No deal.
Didn't Groupon just have the same thing for $24 for 6 months (less 10% off Groupon sale)? That was less than $4/month

    • It says No Longer Available

      • Yeah, I've got that, very happy. Optus seems OK reception, my kogan sim on Vodafone is useless. It was like 28 bucks for 6months. Keep your eyes peeled, and get a 5 dollar voda 50dollar credit sim from Harvey Norman, if you can handle The crappy out of town reception then, Port till you find a deal!

  • 6 month deal is back on main page 24 dollars, unlimited calls 2gb, lots of international
