These are good because they clip/slot together.

I once bought $10 units from Masters that use small nuts and bolts to put together - never again. Absolute PITA to assemble.

    • I bought three of them as well. Took around 2 hours to do two of them and then I left the other one unassembled as I'd had enough lol

      • Yep. Still got two fresh in the box!

  • anyone know what the shelf boards are made of???
will it bend over time due to weight.

      Good ol’ MDF.

      Should do the job.

    • Made of mdf. Had mine for almost a year now, I put my heavy toolbox on it and I didn't notice it bend.

    • The shelves are only 900mm wide and supported all around the edge, I can't see much bending happening, and you only paid $34 if it does!

    • They're particle board. No problems with bending in my experience.
Something to be careful of though: We had a couple in the shed, which also contained a small bar fridge, that must have increased the humidity of the room. Particle board is susceptible to mould. Fortunately, we caught it before it was too bad. I've no idea if my experience was an isolated one or if others have had the same problem though.

Fortunately, we caught it before it was too bad

        So what did you do?

        • +2

Wiped the boards down with vinegar and water and moved the fridge into the laundry. It's too recent to know if the mould is coming back, but we're hoping that the lesson is be careful if there's moisture nearby.

      • Try Aldi Mould Away (Power Force). Had the same problem but with MDF, the aforementioned solved the problem and the shelf has since sat in the house for 5 years without problem. Also good for other purposes, showers etc.

If the board bent, flip it over to bend it back :)

    • Looks like I'm the odd one out to say that some of mine have warped. I bought 10 of these last year.

Granted one set was in a garden shed so that may be the reason there. The other set was in a dry enclosed shed. One shelf just had one 2l sealed paint tin on it.

I may try replacing it with metal wire shelving from bunnings.

    • Mine were mdf and they got pretty mouldy over the wet season. Gave them a coat of paint and no worries after that.
Had no issues with weight and some of mine would have 30-40kg permanently.

  • Great price for these

Does anyone know the weight capacity of these? It isn't stated on the bunnings website. Aldi has a similar one this Saturday which would explain the price drop by Bunnings.

Bunnings ones are 1.1111111111% bigger and 15.2288% cheaper!
    Bunnings - 1800 x 910 x 410
    Aldi - 1800 x 900 x 400

    (910x410-900x400) / (900x400) = 1.11%
    (39.99-33.90) / 39.99 = 15.2288%

    • You're not doing justice to Bunnings (910x410-900x400) / (900x400) = 3.63889%

      • This is how to convert repeating decimals to a fraction:

        3.638888888….
        = 3+(638-63)/900
        = 3+575/900
        = 3+23/36
        = 3 23/36

  • Decent shelves, bought a few and am happy aside from the end rail on one was slightly bent - easily fixed with a few hammer bangs between blocks of wood. The mdf shelves from one unit were really dusty as well but again no real problem.

  • Thanks. Was going to get the Aldi ones but saw this before I headed out. Grabbed 3, they were $34.89 on the shelf but scanned at $33.90 so all good.

These are OK for the price though you need to consider where you will be putting it. We had put it in the shed and the poor quality shelves was a breeding ground for mould - some of the shelves are now warped. Ended up moving the shelves to the garage and they're fine now.

Interesting to note that we do have other similar shelves in the shed (also MDF) but must be treated - because haven't had an issue with mould on those shelves (originally from Masters).

  • No Aldi's in the NT so $40 up here still.
    Bit of a bugger

  • Is this good quality guys? For a better one how much more I need to pay extra? Assuming same size. Or should I just settle for this? This is going into my garage. What do you guys store on them? Do people put shoes on these lol :)

    • These are good quality and very easy to assemble. Keep stored in dry conditions going by the comments above. I'm storing boxes, shoes, and random tools etc.

  • Bunnings 16km away from me does not have stock.
I have to drive 24km to another Bunnings to get it.
    Grabbed 5, totally worth it.

  • Thanks OP I grabbed four. MALAGA, WA bunnings had many on stock, near the tool shop, not in the shelving aisle. Good luck

  • I went in to get these and found 1830x1200x540mm for $54 so got 4 of those instead about 20 left at Leopold 45 at geelong north 1 at colac. Marked at $60 at Leopold but matched Colac $54

  • I bought 2 for my garage. Will assemble tomorrow. Is it really no tools to assemble? Not even a screw driver? How long to assemble one?

    • I used a block of wood to assemble, used it like a hammer. Does take a little time, 20 minutes?

      • Ok thanks.

    • The first one took me fifteen mins the subsequent ones took me half the time. Very easy

  • Shows up as 33.90 for my local store in QLD. Good find!

  • Always thought about getting these but each time I see them in person would prefer a Romak deal instead. They just feel sturdier you try flexing an upright.

Not that I really expect one these days it's been a while.

One standalone isn't that stable, I have 3 side by side, I used some cable ties to connect them to each other, very stable this way.
