    So what the different?

  • It looks like their normal price…

    • +5

      Didn't say it was discounted

        • +15

I think it's a bargain and I'm gonna go buy one. Gets a thumbs up from me 👍🏻

        • +2

@jv: The bargain is in the eye of the beholder - if someone sells something for less than what you'd be willing to pay then it's a bargain. In my eyes, this be a bargain! With 29 upvotes at 11PM on a Sunday I'd say a few people agree with me.

        • +2

@jv: How do you figure? Mr economics?

Pretty sure you wrote this on a Monday

        • @TightBottom: true that, I misspoke I meant 'for a deal posted 11PM on a Monday'.

        • +1

@Jason Genova: stop judging me :p going off a few hours sleep here.

        • @jv: You can say normal price as of Apr 2017 by your graph, but it doesn't show older history to conclude.

        • @teach86: Paying more than what product worth is also called generous.

        • +1

but it doesn't show older history to conclude.

That's the only price it's been sold for.

        • @jv: I'm expecting history date all the way back to Aug 2016. Like this product Makita LXT 18V 2 Piece Cordless Drill Kit.

Unless you're telling me it is a new product OR price is only recorded since Apr 2017.

Life doesn't always turn out the way you expect.

        • @jv: So, will you tell me it is a "new product"? LOL

        • Say that to the NES Classic deals.

This post is gonna end in tiers.

It looks like good value, but is it a bargain?

    • Yes cause they dont last long at bunnings…

      • If they don't last long, you're better off getting one that does and not wasting your money.

        • +2

It's just common sense. Maybe ask someone to explain it to you.

    • +1

yes … and its power coated, no cut hands ^.^

      • +3

        its power coated

        sounds dangerous…

      • +1

        Powder, not power.

  • Am considering getting two just so I can take the shelves from the second to insert into the first. Doesn't seem like the shelves are sold separately anywhere.

  • I was about to buy a $29.. 2 shelf version of this that was advertised in the paper and then i found this next to it $.$ bought 2!!
gives me way more options, cant split in two! …. also for the price its powder coated!!!!!

    • Can't split in two or can?

      • +1

You can split it into two. Each of the uprights come as two separate pieces, with a joiner in the middle, so you could just leave them separate. Would mean that you would likely end up with a couple of very high shelf spaces, but it's doable.

        • +2

Thank you. Just bought and assembled a couple of sets as separates.
Half the height but I used the 5 inserts to the half, so I don't have any vertical dead-space - which is what I always avoid when buying any shelving unit.
          Love it :)

  • Is this similar but but better been powder coated? If so they are good sturdy shelving unit.
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/269552
I just picked up some mesh shelves last week on clearence for about $8 each so worth having a look for some of those if interested.

    • Huh?

      • +2

Ok. From a quick viewing I thought these look very similar to the romak shelving units on sale 6 months ago. Was curious if anyone could confirm if they are made by the same parent company.
Also wondered the benefits of it been powdercoated compared to galvanised.

Also pointing out I found on clearance mesh shelving which some people may find a benefit for. I know up here all my mdf shelves went mouldy.

        • +2

I think Romak are (slightly) better quality. I a similar deal in the past and the uprights were thinner, easier to twist with the hand.
I won't call them crap, but I'd wait for a Romak deal instead personally if no rush.

Prolly due to Aldi Heavy duty shelving $49 available on the 22nd Sat
    https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys/special-buys-sat-22-…

Aldi shelf is greater in depth by 5cm (46cm, more storage & greater sability), it is also made in Germany, 175kg load capacity per shelf and a great shelf imo

    • I have to admit the black powder coat look has grown on me comparing it the Aldi look.

    • They look good too, though luckily I prefer the lesser depth of these. Otherwise stuff gets hidden behind other stuff.

    • Has anyone bought the Aldi version? How is the quality?

      • brought one 6 months ago, & just brought another, I think they are a very good shelf, but I'm no shelf expert.

  • +1

Going to get one only if I have the time to grab the company car for the trip. This is going to give me half a room of real estate!

    • +3

The shelving unit easily fits in the boot of a standard sedan.
Weight is ~40Kg so bring a friend if that's a bit too heavy for you.

Overall the construction is OK but you're getting what you paid for.
      Thin metal.
      Flimsy.
      Shelving is raw MDF.

  • Hope they are back in stock. I was going to get a couple of these last sale but they ran out on the 5 shelved ones..

  • +1

I was gonna buy the 29 buck, too. But got the 1830x 1200x 500 for $54.
I'll try and find the receipt.

  • +3

Just a heads up to those wanting to vary the shelf heights: I looked at this model a few weeks ago and was turned off as you require the middle shelf to be fixed in the middle to secure the brackets half way, so you can't adjust the middle shelf. I went for a more heavy duty shelf, but now require another another shelf for other items. At $39 I am willing to make the compromise.

  • +2

Nice shelf. I got one to cut down to <700mm width to fit in the end of a slimline shed, and seems like a decent build. Nothing special, but cheap.
As mentioned above, you need the middle shelf in place to join the verticals (each is in 2 sections with only a pin for alignment).
My local sold out within a couple days, so I had to grab the 1830x 1200x 500 model for $54 for the other end. I assumed they were clearing all these.
Cheap and cheerful shelves anyway, but no way I'd hang 150kg on each shelf.

  • Thanks, bought four and constructed one tonight. Not bad value for money, not the most stable but a bolt into the wall will fix that. Very happy with the price, been looking for ages now, thanks op!

    • How sturdy is it? If you have it set up as a 5 tier shelf, does the top shelf sway easily?

      • +1

Difficult question to answer over the net non scientifically but for my purposes it's solid enough. It's fairly rigid but light at the same time. I don't think it's overly strong but will be fine for my basic needs which is just storing fishing gear, boxes, snorkeling gear, golf stuff, etc. These are all fairly lightweight items.

I think it could do with some cross bracing at the back, and side just to strengthen it up, but hey, it's $40 worth, you're just not going to get that. You could easily add your own braces to it.

If I had kids running around I'd definitely be securing it to a wall, in the event that a child might try to climb it. I wouldn't trust it in that regard.

But as general storage for your gear it's good value for money.

        • BTW, for anyone looking in SA, two places I called had only just got them into the receiving area so they weren't even out on the floor yet. One store said come down and we will get them out of the storage area for you (Marion). Mile End told me to ring tomorrow to see if they had hit the floor yet before coming in.

  • I thought these were more expensive when I was staring at one yesterday. I was a little concerned at how the demo one in the store was constructed. Seemed flimsier than it should have been…

  • Thanks, I bought 5 of them for my garage. They are suprisingly good and so easy to assemble. No tools needed.

  • What's the verdict this vs aldi?

  • Bunnings Innaloo WA have a dozen of the larger ones for $54 (1800 x 1200 x 540 mm) as of 40 minutes ago. Same brand. In the middle near cleaning supplies. Also got a rubber mallet for $5 in the tool shop.

  • I went to grab a couple of these today and almost got duped by http://oi64.tinypic.com/2jfhgnb.jpg

These are $79 and look identical but a different product number. I asked whether they had stock of the $39.98 one and they said no but they should be getting more in. I'm dubious considering they have these identical $79 ones. Just thought I'd share the warning.

    • +1

These are $79 and look identical but a different product number

It kinda clearly says 1500mm instead of 910mm.
An easy mistake for similar packaging sure, but going on about being duped and dubious is silly.

      • Oh, in my almost asleep state I didn't notice the 1500 vs 910. That's what I get for spending 2 hours wandering around Bunnings for no real reason :P

        • +1

I can only keep it to under 1 if I look at the orange special and yellow clearance price tags only :P
