Are these the ones that we get to keep all ten fingers after putting it together?

    • +12

Yes. I have dozens of these but they're the black painted (possibly powdercoated) version and they're excellent. Rock solid but keep in mind the shelves are only thin MDF so be sure to keep them far away from moisture or high humidity… I wouldn't ever even use them in a Garden Shed TBH. I'd class them as strictly 'indoor only' and they'll last a lifetime or more.

They hammer-lock together and even when using a rubber mallet this can make a bit of noise so not great for building late at night. Nice middle brace on each shelf to help with the heavy stuff and no sharp edges :)

      • +4

Just a word of caution, the plain gal ones do have much sharper edges than the powder coated ones. Not as bad as the real cheapies but you can certainly cut yourself.

Edit: one other caveat I just remembered is that you can't adjust the position of the middle shelf, because it doubles as the coupling that holds top and bottom halves together. It would also probably be unwise to adjust the position of the bottom shelf as it's needed for bracing.

The whole thing feels a bit flimsy until assembled but quite strong once it's together (a fine object lesson in the principle of bracing actually). For the money it's good if it suits your needs.

        • does this or the Aldi one has to be fastened to the wall? I've checked the Ikea ones, some are need to be fastened to the wall ( in case of falling).

Also, can I just install 4 layers instead of 5 ?

    • +1

My dad actually sliced straight through one of the tendons that connects to your thumb while putting one of these together. No idea how, but I know he wasn't using a rubber mallet, so, please take care when assembling. :/

  • +1

    anyone know the price beforE?

  • -3

These cheap models are as strong as shoe racks. Correction: 200kg/on-the-ground shelf

    • I got a bunch of these at work, and they handle the weight well.

5 bunk beds for the kids. Bargain.

      • +1

Or the 357 visa workers. $200 rent each. Bargain. The libs taught me everything I know.

  • Thanks, will pop around Bunnings in the morning

  • Perfect, needed a new pantry shelf.

Bunnings appears to havve a range of accessories (baskets, etc) that clip into this frame also.

  • +2

I recently bought a few of these. One of the parts broke during assembly. Romak support was great and the part was shipped quickly.

  • anyone knows the exact size of the aldi's one? I have a 177cm gap to fill, wonder if 2xaldi will fit.

  • Nothing at Hilton, Islington or Parariefield in Adelaide. They all said they're not getting stock until next week. Has anyone actually been able to locate stock?

  • +1

SA stock at Prospect, none at Modbury or Windsor.

    • Did you actually go in store? I was just there and they have not had any stock. Called the Parafield store and they said no stock in Adelaide at all.

      • I picked up 2 a couple of hours ago from Prospect, was about a dozen left at the front (I didn't check in the aisle with the rest of them)

      • Yeh I went in, and the sales person checked stock levels via her little pocket gizmo thingy she carries around.

        • Cheers Barry, went back and also found them. Still a few left.

    • no, i just came back. no stock in prospect churchill

      • Must of sold out since i was at Prospect.

        • +2

thanks Barry, i revisited prospect bunnings again. Finally, i found them. They are located on the front closing to hire equipment place. there is no price label tag. but the package is red color. still have at least 10 left now.

  • More than 10 left at box hill.

    • 15 left in Maroochydore

      Edit… 14, got one!

  • +1

No stock at Stafford, Brendale or Carseldine.

Brendale - not even showing up on their computers.
Carseldine - According to computer, yes we have stock. No we don't know where it is. Never found them
    Stafford - No stock.

Tried 2 Aldi's - No stock, couldn't even find the ticket on the floor.

    Guess ill try next time.

  • None yet arrived at Hoxton Park or Crossroads. :o(

Is early in the promotion so not all in/delivered to stores yet… as according to Hoxton Park staff at 08.10.

    • I would have thought this was a clearance sale?

      • more a 'promotion' type sale I had thought…?

        • +1

Maybe, but why are they not clearing the coated ones which cost the same when not on special? Maybe you are right and this is a response to Aldi, who knows. Lets hope they stock up haha

  • No stock at Artarmon or Chatswood.

  • No stock at Noarlunga or Seaford, SA.

  • Greenacre NSW has 14 left

They are near the special orders desk

  • I'm building a house maybe completion in 7 months or so. Should I buy now for the garage for the new home or just wait? Do you think the price will be better then?

    • Tough call, but if it were me… I'd buy em now.
These particular shelves typically cost double to my knowledge.
      Very good build quality IMO.

      • Thanks. I will see if my local Bunnings have them. By the way when you put these in the garage what do you guys normally store on these shelves?

        • Depends if aldi have a similar sale next year. Bunnings only reduced the price because it's on sale at aldi for $39 currently.

To answer your question. Boxes of junk but sense of satisfaction when it's tidied and neatly sorted.

  • Got one, thanks OP. 20+ available at Wollongong.

  • Anyone know what the original price was?

Edit: nvm saw the above posts

  • Picked one up from Coburg, VIC this morning, 13 left. They were not on the shelves in the usual place, they were at the end of isle 59 (towards the wall), on a pallet.

  • Cockburn WA has 11 in stock and O'Connor have 15 in stock.

  • I checked Villawood, Sydney; they said there's 19 in stock but they don't know which aisle its in? You guys had any luck?

  • I was wondering is there a structural difference between the shelf posted and this shelf?
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/romak-1830-x-910-x-410mm-5-tier-…

Or is the difference only in the powder coating vs. galvanising?

    • +1

checked the package, and the only difference is the finish.

      • Sounds good then. Hopefully, I won't cut myself putting the shelf together

        • +1

The instructions inside the box said to wear gloves, of course I didn't listen. Cut myself once trying to put the rubber stop on one of the legs. All good from there :)

  • Thanks OP, bought one and put it together. So impressed I'm gonna go buy another tomorrow :)

  • How big is the box packaging ? Want to see if it will fit in the car

    • Flat packed. Roughly 950 x 450 x 150

  • +1

Make sure you don't grab the non-galvanised one. What a waste of time carrying that heavy thing to have it rejected.

Subiaco, WA had no stock of the galvanised one

  • +2

Picked up 2, already assembled one. Remember to have a mallet and work gloves ready. Thats all you need.

  • +1

Hey guys.. I bought two at Bunnings Greenacre about an hour ago, and there was still one left… Hope that helps somebody :)

  • +1

Went to Bunnings midday today at Bonnyrigg and Hoxton Park. Staff at both said they could see stock on their system but were not able to locate them physically within the store so I gave up

I did see this one which has the exact dimensions but difference price/colour

    • +1

Your picture is the black powder coated version. This special is for the galvanised version.

      • Thanks for noting this - I was a little disappointed when sighting, but got just the same.
No two ways about it, a good deal in anybody's book, so many thanks to the OP for this!

  • Anyone manage to find stock in/near Brisbane southside? I checked at both the Underwood and Compton Rd stores this afternoon without success. Computer says there are 19 and 15 available, but staff at Underwood store couldn't find them despite walking almost the whole store to try to find "location/aisle 130", and the guy at the front of Compton Rd said a few people have already asked and nobody had success in finding. The store was about to close so I did a quick scan of the aisle where other shelves are, but no joy.

    • +1

My gut feeling is that the stock is still in the dock area. Many bunnings I went to had this same problem. So u could give your local store a ring on Monday afternoon to see if they have any in stock then.

  • None at Palmerston but apparently 42 at Millner. Was there 10 minutes before closing but could not find them.
Will have to hope I have better luck Monday now. Fingers crossed.

    • Still 42 in Millner. On a pallet 10 foot off the ground. Getting them bought down tomorrow so available then.

  • thanks op

  • About 10 left at Marion, SA. Centre isle behind tools.

  • There are about 6 left at Bunnings Bankstown Airport.

  • Just went to my local burnings in Mandurah VIC and they had 13 available. Just mounted and it looks good and strong.

  • Thanks OP. Got one from Cockburn WA store. They still have 9 in stock but you need to ask a staff to bring it from their warehouse.

    • +1

      Lol @ Cockburn

  • Mascot has about 4-5 left

  • Got 6 from Crossroads (NSW) there were 7 left early Monday afternoon.
They are located at the S/W cnr of the store in the 'Promotional'/front row (not in the Aisles).

  • +1

Got 4 from Parafield SA more left opposite isle 10. Check other stores as they have been in transit, just got delivered today.

    • thanks. Found them and got 2.

      • +1

None left when I went a couple of hours ago. Maybe you got the last ones overlord.

  • Bunnings at Willetton, WA says this is their usual price.???

  • Still some left at Morrabbin Bunning
Add: Corner Fairchild Street & Warrigal Road, Moorabbin VIC 3189
    6-7 still in stock

  • +1

Just picked up two from Bonnyrigg store. They said there was 17 left
    http://imgur.com/a/BCyd0

  • Mt Barker SA store just got their stock delivered. Picked up 3. There were 15 left in the middle of the store near aisle 7.

  • +1

Can you fix these shelves to a wall so they don't topple over?

    • Yep. Might be a good idea too if little kids (big kids?) (or drunks) are around!
A good point really as some may try to climb, others may lean/pull on/against.

You wouldn't want to see a little kid(s) get hurt or end up with a visiting neighbour suing you.
On that note they are fairly sturdy, but you can't/shouldn't leave huge gaps between shelves
as the larger the gap, the greater the chance of topple/buckling. Highly dependant on weights
loaded on shelves, distribution and level/height. Just my opinion, and again - a good point.
Something we should all keep in mind considering the product and general safety. +1

      • +1

Nice. I couldn't see if they had a bracket to do so with. Any shelves I buy for the garage have to be fixed to the wall because kids will climb anything!

  • Got 3 more from Bonnyrigg 20.10. Only 2 left now.
Located in long centre walkway/mid store - NOT is Aisles.
