    With free house insurance?

All jokes aside I won't be getting another samsung washing machine. My front loader leaked after two years. The fault is the low quality plastic used in the inlet. The water pressure in Australia is too great and over time it cracked. Very common issue according to the repairer.

Mine has been good since 2009. My wife wants an Electrolux but it seems we'll have to wait … ;)

I have a Samsung front-loader that I bought in 2005 and it is still working great.

i have a samsung front loader from 2009 thats still going

but i only do washing 2-3 times a week though and if im doing more than 1 batch on the same day i usually wait 30-60 mins between batches

    • ive had similar problem with Samsung

    • Samsung J845 - Purchased 2006, failed 2009.

      Samsung WF7708N6W1 - Purchased 2009, failed 2014.

Hope our Bosch lasts longer. Despite the above, I don't put much faith in anecdotes, so for reference, Choice's most recent survey gave the following scores for "reliability": Miele/Bosch 89, F&P/LG 84, Electrolux/Samsung 82, Simpson/Other 79, Asko 70. For "service satisfaction", LG was the worst by a large margin, while there wasn't much between the rest, though Miele was on top.

      • funny that. I actually have a J845. Maybe it was just bad luck in your case.

    • Under the new consumer laws, there's a chance you could claim against Samsung for that leak - you should expect a washing machine to last longer than 2 years.

      • I did a claim with Bing Lee, where I purchased it from. The store didn't want to help and I got in touch with their head office. The lady agreed that it should last longer and sent the repairer to fix free of charge.

I'm just surprised that the leak was caused by using cheap plastic and not accounting for high water pressure.

  • the Bosch WAK24162AU is going for $559 for those who don't want another samsung, decent price but not the cheapest. I purchased it for $575 in store with the $100 off on the weekend for my cousin.

  • Is this the model that won a CHOICE shonky award for taking 6 hours to wash??

    • Might be, I hae the 8.5kg Samsung and it has some cycles that are over 4 hours. Other than that it seems fine. It also has 30 and 60 min cycles.

The shonky went to a washer dryer, it took a long time to wash and then dry the clothes

      • thanks!

    • No, that was their top-range combined washer/dryer that sells for $3000

      • Thanks . Definitely didn't want that one
