If only this worked with the Nexus 6P, I'd jump on it.

    • +1

if only works on huawei phones

      • +30

for anyone interested, this product will also work without any phone, just put it on, leave the flap open and you'll experience live life-like life with light-speed environmental response, limited only by your neck movement AND in 3D!!!! (no suitable for driving)

        • +3

You say that, but if you don't have a phone in there, all you get is a super-blurry, field of view restricted view of the world… i.e. not suitable for use as anything but it's intended application. Or as a blur-o-scope.

        • +1

          @Zaptruder:

He said leave the flap open … XDD

          That is the real VR.

          leave the flap open

        • +4

@Zaptruder: it's almost like he was joking

        • If only it worked with real life 2.0

        • Also works on Nightcam 3D PRO N POV.

        • What is the refresh rate like?

        • @superforever: its not VR its just R… :)

        • @Drpepper666:

The best jokes work on multiple levels and have a good ring of truth to them.

      • it works on Mate 9 pro

      • Yeah, Mate 9 pro and Mate 9 by Porsche.

  • +1

does this work on an iPhone?

  • Thanks, grabbed one

  • Thanks OP - grabbed one to give it a go

  • +3

Seems like a no-brainer at this price. Thanks heaps OP!

    • +2

Agreed…. liked the Samsung Gear VR for S8+ but liked $100 more so i sold it…. now there is something similar for $28 haha good deal.

      • +1

I've got an OG Pixel so in theory it should be pretty good, but for $28 I'm sure I could sell it again for that price if I don't like it. It's also the first time I've ever used the "Buy it Now" button on eBay haha.

      • Samsung great VR had much better games.

  • Will this work with a Galaxy S6?

  • 300 units were listed (258 remaining as of now).

    • Looks like it is getting Ozb'd:
Currently at 212 sold in one hour
And every second i refresh it goes up by 10…. lol.

      • They just added another 300 units! (292 as of now)

  • This is the "old" version (for those that care), obviously clearing out stock.

New version has an extra strap over the top, slightly improved optics, and costs ~$100 more.

    • +14

      and costs ~$100 more.

      Only read this

      • exactly, for only $100 more, it's a steal.

  • Thats amazing, thanks op

  • Grabbed one , thanks OP :)

    • +1

Poor on, what did on do to deserve that

  • +9

    Got one for no reason

  • Grabbed one, thanks.

  • Thanks heaps mate! Got one for my Galaxy S8+

  • +1

Anyone able to comment on the irl difference between these and cardboard?

Seems to be alot of bitching about the app being a resource pig.

    • +5

      You mean ivrl difference :P

  • Cheers OP. Got one too. Lets see how it works with the S8+…

  • Thanks

  • +4

Got one and i know my iPhone 6+ won't fit .. I think I need an intervention

  • +1

Will this work with older phones like oneplus one?

  • Thanks OP.

  • Bought one for iPhone 7. I think the utility gained from buying at such a discount is worth more than the actual cost of the VR Headset😂

    • probably useless for your phone anyway

  • +3

Bought it for use with any future phones….

  • +11

since people are asking which particular phones are compatible (and there is a link in the description), here it is:

    Google Pixel
    Google Pixel XL
    Google Pixel 2
    Google Pixel 2 XL
    ZTE Axon 7
    ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe
    Motorola Moto Z
    Motorola Moto Z Force
    Huawei Mate 9 Pro
    Porsche Design Mate 9
    ASUS ZenFone AR
    Samsung Galaxy S8
    Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus
    Samsung Galaxy Note 8
    LG V30

    • Will it work with my note 2?

    • +6

On a rug I purchased by mistake

      • +3

Only if your rug is $1200 or more.

        • With eBay discounts and cash rewards using my AMEX card through paypal…. Still paid $1200

    • if you're wondering if it works with an iPhone, it sort've does. i.e. it essentially runs as the same as google cardboard which is pretty far from daydream

      https://www.vrheads.com/can-i-put-iphone-google-daydream

    • +2

Drinking Voss water thinking of my next high yield investment.

    • So does anyone know why this won't function as a normal cardboard vr if the phone isn't supported?

  • Sold! Saw this post in time, phew.

    • Now the obvious follow up question:
      What apps to get?
'Keep talking and nobody explodes' looks like a good one.

  • +2

    damn doesn't work on s7

  • +1

Just bought one for no reason. Don't even know what it does.

  • +1

bought it and I don't even have a compatible phone.

did it the ozbargain way which is buy now and ask questions later…

  • Argh I already have a Gear VR that I don't use :(

    • I bought this despite having a gear vr as gear VR is too clunky for me and this is simpler, smaller, need this for netflix

  • $28 for one, or $53.20 for two…? Hmm… https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/334035

  • +1

Got an iPhone, still bought it anyway…

  • Add $2 more and get 5% off the cart.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/334035

  • -3

Drop the "2" and then maybe worth it….seriously!

  • Yes. I just got my Note 8 yesterday and was wondering if I should buy the 2017 Samsung VR headset. $28 is better for something that I'll probably lose interest in after the novelty wears off.

  • Is this for gaming? Sorry I have next to no idea what these are used for.

    • +3

      Porn

      • Yeah? Tell me more.. lol

        • yup, tell the Mrs you are researching anatomy

  • Fish bowl viewing. No thx

  • 476 sold in last hour haha!!! Hoping this goes well with a shopmonk Iphone 8 and google cardboard apps

  • +1

Frustrating that it isn't compatible with phones that are a generation older. I don't really understand why not? What sensor was added to new phones?

    • +1

Seems it's more the speed and drift of the IMU (motion sensor). Older phones have IMUs but they're not as good. Also the speed of the GPU and screen res is a factor.

  • -1

I don't have a compatible phone but I still bought it because why not

  • +1

    Sold out.

  • Went OOS right before I hit the darn button!

  • All out!

  • -3

Not sure why I just bought it 😌

  • thinking of getting a compatible phone now. which one should i go - google pixel 2 or samsung galaxy s8? dont like over size phones so no xl or note.

    • +1

if you want a larger screen phone but don't want to feel the bulk of a oversized phone. I would highly recommend going in store and holding a Galaxy S8+.

All the people i recommended the S8+ to have been happy. Since its narrow and not exceptionally long, it is easy to hold with 1 hand and still be able to reach to the far side of the screen without using the other hand.

    • s8

  • What long term uses do these have besides being a gimmick? I've never used VR on my phone and I'm interested in trying it out.

    • +1

My wife and i use them on long flights to distract ourselves, There are some pretty cool apps that allow you to watch your movies in a cinema experience. I don't do well with flying so i use this as a distraction with some good noise cancelling headphones.

      • I was just wondering if this would be good for watching movies … I've got a 14 hour flight coming up

      • What apps? Also can you watch any regular movie and is it any good?
