Sorry but this is not a good deal. Works out cheaper to buy the phone outright and go on a sim only plan. For example:

the phone is $469 at Officeworks although I’m sure you can find it cheaper during one of the regular eBay sales. Works out to $19.54 a month.

  Yes the small additional amount is ok compared to interest on borrowings to purchase the phone at a sucka consumer interest rate of 8-10%. Say you could use your money to pay off a car loan instead.
  
  So you pay off other debt but you pay around $40 extra in phone costs over two years. That $469 goes off an 8% loan so saves you about $75 on interest for two years. So the plan just saved you $35.
