  • This may be not such a bargain since I search and found the 50% per year deal.

Thanks for reminding me to disconnect my foxtel

    • Apart from the shows being crap, they also overcharge you if you dont monitor your bills carefully.

  • why? they suck?

  • Foxtel only does deals to suit itself!

Just got rid of mine last week, with 14 free channels + 1 more in Jan (Ch 10's 11) I carnt watch everything free to air I like, my PVR is full.

I agree - a lot of shows (not all) on the basic package are now shown on all the new free to air channels. I would rather spend $396 on a HD PVR and fill it up with all the recordings. You can then watch the shows, skip the ads, and have a PVR to keep.

      • I'd rather download whatever I want, whenever, without ads, within 5 minutes of it airing in the US.

How do they justify the fees considering the amount of ads they seem to play :/ Have just been looking into getting Foxtel but after watching it at my parents place, dealing with the ads and seeing the costs…wow…just crazy.

$6 a week? thats less than a dollar a day!

God bless you foxtel, now I can take all that money I send to those no good world vision kids to a better use: working in rupert murdocks pocket.

Foxtel is being released on Xbox 360 within a week - $20 a month with a month by month contract - I like :D

Admittedly its a cutdown version, but with no lengthy contract and no installation crap, it worth checking out.

  • Great Package!

Cut the chatter Red Two - accelerate to attack speed!

  • I will be cancelling my contract, no doubt they will beg me to stay once I call up. If you are out of contract and call them, you can get the IQ2 HD box and all channels for $50 a month if they are desperate.

Foxtel is horrible. They never show new shows, always repeats. And their are heaps of ads. It is a waste of money unless you are a real sport fanatic. I do like the natgeo and discovery channels sometimes, but way too many repeats! They are not even showing 'An Idiot Abroad' which is on those channels in the US.. but nope, we gotta wait months if we are to even get it at all.. pathetic.

  • there is nothing worse than paying thru the nose for something and they dont show it just after the USA.
I love ramseys kitchen nightmares and hells kitchen.both took more than a week to arrive and littered with adds.

I then learned how to download them myself and that was the end of foxtel.

If the media companies had an easy way for me to do it legit and pay dollar per episode without ads, i would be in!

  • call me a conspiracy nut, but i'm thinking the Packers/Murdochs etc of the world who have a vested interest in cable tv will try to control/buy out more FTA tv stations just to shut them down or turn them into crap so more people will go back to cable tv…. :S

    • It won't make a difference anyway, TV as we know it is over. Another few years and the NBN will ensure HD streams of everything. I wonder if the Government has factored in the money they'll lose from not being able to licence the spectrum?

  • Well i hope there is competition for foxtel thru broadband.
I dont mind paying but foxtel is a joke.I want to pay only for what i watch(or channel i want to watch)

  • I pay $11 per month for IP TV with about 40 channels and they have time shift and archive. Plus their quality is much much better than standard def. Foxtel. They also have dedicated sports channels: soccer, Tennis, etc. Who needs Foxtel at their ridiculous prices?
