Edifier Active Bookshelf/Computer Speakers: Edifier R1280T $103.19 Posted, Edifier R2000DB $239.19 Posted @ MightyApe eBay

Well reviewed active bookshelf speakers from Edifier at good prices. Can be used as both computer and media speakers. The R2000DB and S1000DB in particular have optical input and are a viable alternative to a soundbar if a surround sound system is not an option. For me the R2000DB is probably the sweet spot for price/performance.

Edifier R1280T $103.19 delivered
Edifier R1700BT $183.98 delivered
Edifier R2000DB $239.19 delivered
Edifier S1000DB $407.98 delivered

Reviews at Everyday Listening provide a good overview of all models.

  • I bought the r1280t from Kogan pretty good sound, wish the power was on the remote instead of having it at the back which is annoying if you actually have them in a bookshelf.

Was going to go wit the 1700 the other day but decided on Voll passive + an amp from them as the Edifier don’t have great inputs imo.

  • I've got the Edifier Lunas (which they list for $229, so $183 after discount) on my desktop. They only really get used for youtube/games (since I have an actual stereo in the study as well), but I couldn't be happier with them. Really well made, great sound, wireless never skips a beat.

  • I have Edifier R1700BT for around 2 years.

Look, compared to other speakers with the same RMS wattage output they are worth it.

They are TOTAL POWER OUTPUT:RMS 15W×2 + 18W×2 which means total RMS output is 66 watts.

Compared to Pioneer and Yamaha, equivalent will cost you 999. For 184 they are worth it.

  • Can anyone comment on Voll 44 vs Edifier equivalentsplease?

    • +1

I believe the Voll A44 is a rebranded Micca PB42X. Closest Edifier equivalent would probably be the 1280T, with the Micca having a slight edge.

  • I have been long waiting for getting r1280t at a this much cheap price. I think I never came across cheaper than this but what confused me is r1700bt model has Bluetooth. So I'm struggling to decide.
Plus what about the warranty? They are shipped from new zealand?

Sound comparison between the R1280T and R1700BT here if that helps:

Regarding warranty although shipped from New Zealand the seller is listed as MightyApe Australia.

This is the message I got from the vendor:

"If you have any issues within the warranty period you can either contact the manufacturer directly or you can contact us.

  • R2000DB are great TV speakers. Recently moved to Australia and needed something to replace the powerful and 15 year old Sony CMT-CPX1 HI-FI speakers I had to leave in England.

  • Pricing is even a little better today, the final day of the 'PLUG20' offer, thanks to lowered eBay pricing (between 7-15%) across the listed models.

im glad i have waited. grabbed r1700bt because of bluetooth. otherwise r1280 at 80 dollars is a steal.
