Mr Chen's Dumpling Family Pack 625g/20 Pieces Half Price $8.50 at Woolworths

90

These are insanely popular when they were last half price, every store were basically out of stock. Coles currently has the smaller pack for half price as well at $3.75, more variety, but price comes down to $1.56 per 100g where these are around $0.80 per 100g, so half of that.

    These are insanely popular…

Oh my, it must be Hyperbole Saturday

  • These are insanely popular

Not much deals I could find on ozbargain…

    • I suppose I should have made myself clearer. Popular in store, I was wondering why all the boxes were gone. But I couldn't find any similar deals on ozbargain so I thought I'd start this trend.

Maybe they're just not ordering them anymore because no one wants them?

        • The vegetable ones are absolutely disgusting and make up 1/4 of the pack. The rest aren't too flash either. 3/10, do not recommend.

Got them the other day, taste like plastic. Literally.

    • Got them today. Second this.

Really, isn't $8.50 even a bit expensive? Full price is crazy.

  • All I could find was the vegetable Dumplings (1kg) for $8.50?

Maybe I have it set for SA on the website and other states have different deals?

Everything else was normal price. I found that the only Dumplings that taste good from Mr Chens' range is the Prawn Hargrow. The rest as someone else said… Taste like plastic

  • Does anyone know where they were made?product of China or Thailand or Vietnam?

    • Mostly Vietnam. However, the xiaolong bao is made here in oz.

      • Why would it be made in Vietnam? and this doesn't have xiaolong bao in it?

Doesn't really matter, they'll all kill you about the same time.

      • This is true.

Also true: Oxygen is slowly killing you and giving you cancer.

Thats cute. Its $9.99 for a pack of 30 in ALDI

My maths skills aint the best, but how are you getting 80c/100g?

    Shouldnt it be $8.50/625g = $1.36/100g?

…reading these comments I wouldnt exactly call them 'insanely popular'

  • Their dim sums (i.e. Hargow) are really good.. the dumplings not so much..

  • had some this morning. Surprisingly good for frozen yum cha. Much better than what they sell in asian grocery.

  • Har gow is good…even better than in some yum cha restaurant

  • I normally buy my dumplings from the Asian grocery stores. The usual price is around $10-11 for 3 packs that each range from 400-600g depending on the type of dumpling and style and are made in a Australia. I've tried the dumplings that Coles/Woolies sell twice from different brands and didn't rate them but they seem to be very popular on ozbargain. I'll put that down to different tastebuds but I definitely prefer the ones from the Asian supermarkets by far.

    • You really know your dumplings.

  • bought the xio long bau, har gau, spring rolls and har cheung. would def not say better than some yum cha restaurant, but still not bad for supermarket brand. (obviously ausvicee is a causcasian who doesn't live anywhere near chatswood…) Agree just go to Chinese supermarket to get the dumplings it's cheaper and way better.

  • Btw, does anyone know which Asian Groceries in Richmond sell Dodo brand frozen fishball? I normally buy from Glen Waverley but it's too far.
