Zodiac MX8 MK2 Pool Cleaner with Cyclonic Leaf Catcher $459 Delivered

Zodiac MX8 MK2 Pool Cleaner

Fed up with your “automatic” pool cleaner getting stuck? Is it leaving some areas of the pool untouched? is it pushed by the flow or the hose?

Let Zodiac MX8 with X-Drive navigation technology get your entire pool, floor and walls, thoroughly cleaned with no fuss.

Unlike regular suction pool cleaners, it drives itself around the pool floor and walls covering the whole area. It can get in and out of the tightest spots with no issues. It is fast, dependable and reliable.

Zodiac Cyclonic Leaf Catcher

The Cyclonic Leaf Catcher works together with your pool cleaner and helps it do a better and faster job.

It catches leafs and debris before they get to your pool filtration system, preventing it from getting clogged.

As it maintains the level of suction - thanks to its Cyclonic design, it prevents the filtration system from getting strained.

  • What is the original price?

    • $649

  • When I had a pool I brought one of these for about $850 and they are by far a great bit of kit for your pool. I would 100% recommend this especially at that price

    • What surface do you have? These sorts of cleaners seem to struggle with slippery tiles, which is odd considering many (most?) pools would have this surface.

      • Had the mx6, it won't climb my tile sides unless I have the suction above the recommended rate. Still a really good machine, but it struggled with the large palm leaves, they got caught up in the rotating scrubber.

        • I'd be happy if it even did all the floor - rather than hanging around the deeper section.

  • Ordered one thanks.

  • Hi Rep,

We have a Polaris 360, pushed by the force of the pump. Its ageing and using heaps of parts. Can I upgrade to one of these ? Can you explain how this is powered & where the leafs go once sucked up ?

    • It's powered by the pool pump. I have the smaller one, there is a sort of turbine mechanism that drives the wheels as the water gets sucked up. It works well, but does get stuck on sticks and large leaves.

The cyclone leaf catcher sits inline with the hose and does a great job of collecting leaves and other debris before they get to the filter basket.

      • Thank you. Just to confirm, the 360 is powered by water "pushing" not sucking if that makes sense. Is this the same ? The current one has a cloth bag that collects the debris, we have a large gum above the pool… it drops lots of gunnuts into the pool (daily cleaning required).

        • If the gumnuts float, get a Poolskim - my pool with a large tree over it is finally clean with the Poolskim and a suction cleaner working in tandem. After having playing around with various pool technologies, pressure cleaner, suction cleaners etc).

        • @mooribbit: Thanks for this. We have a skimmer box as well, the skimmer sucks in the gumnuts & the 360 sucks the bottom of the pool in tandem. Both need a daily empty :) Its a BIG gumtree !

    • The Polaris 360 is a pressure side cleaner. If it has performed well, we would generally suggest to replace it with another pressure side cleaner. The MX8 is a suction cleaner and works differently. Call us on 1300 766 691 so that we can discuss the details of your pool.

  • Rep, does the MK2 version fix the problems people have been having with this in the past ?

    • This is the latest version and covers all issues from the past. You can check the latest verified reviews on our site.

  • Hey Rep, I've already got the leaf catcher, any chance of a deal without it?

    Thanks

Is there any guarantee with this product in regards to performance. $500 is a lot of money to spend to only find out it gets stuck in corners or isn't gripping to the sides properly.

Cheers for the reply that's a greet returns policy. Is this better than a robotic cleaner? Like a cx35? Cheers

Every type of pool cleaner has its pros and cons, and without knowing the details of your pool and expectations it is hard to tell which one is a better cleaner for your situation. Questions:
Why is this model, both original and MK2, no longer listed on manufacturer's Australian website? (Alternatively, can you please supply link)
How is the MK2 different to the original / how is it better / what issues did it fix?
"X-Drive Navigation Technology get your entire pool": Does this have smart mapping functions or is it still random?
Any specials on robotic ones with "mapping technologies"?

    • The manufacturer doesn't have every single item they make on their website, like for example the lm3 chlorinators which are incredibly popular products.
The MK2 has a new, more robust engine and chassis among other minor fixes.
It does not have a smart mapping function. It is simply designed to drive itself on a pattern that will cover the pool. It has to reverse mechanisms that prevent it from getting stuck.
We have specials on robotics from time to time, have you joined our mailing list?
At the moment, we have $150 Off the Revolution I Robotic Pool Cleaner made by Maytronics to replace the Davey Floorcova, coupon code "revolution" (expires 27/10/2017).

  • Thanks OP, ordered one. Will see how it works and if the Keeper of the Pool is happy with it.

  • Does it grip well enough on a fibreglass pool to get up the sides? We've got a 20yr old Kreepy Krawly which is at the end of its life.

    • It works well on fibreglass.

      • Our main problem is pine needles - the kreepy krawly sucks them up. The inline filter traps some of them, the skimmer box stops none of them, the pump basket stops some and the rest jam up the pump impeller.
How well does the cyclonic filter work with pine needles?

  • To OP: Is that you, Nick? And is Peter B still around?

    • Yes, myself and the team. Peter is still around, he hangs out in the store @ blacktown as usual.

      • My daughter went and got one direct from Blacktown store, thanks!

Does this suck up the leafs / debris from the floor as well or do i need another device to do that and this just cleans/scrubs the walls ?

  • I normally buy a cheap $99 Vacuum every couple of years, replacing each as the hoses start to crack.

Does the MX8 take generic baracuda type hoses or special expensive ones?

    What is the Warranty?

  • Are all these new fangled machines better than the old kreepy krawly?

I now have a pool to maintain for the first time ever. Only been in it once, but my guess is concrete with a few tiles nearer the surface. Edges at the bottom are well rounded, not angular. Rectangular pool. 1/3 is deep, 1/3 shallow, the rest is a transition. Doesn't seem to get large debris from trees, mostly individual leaves (and algae.. Already had green pool once).

    Wondering what to buy.

  • I have taken the leap and ordered. This Op has been pretty good with deals and locals don't want to barter so I'm in for the swim of faith.

  • Gday rep, any chance on a deal for the Zodiac Aquasphere in the near future? I'm in need of a new suction vac with new hose and have also been eyeing off the leaf catcher as i've a big gum on the property that gives me some grief.

    Cheers,
    Scott

  • Pretty good timing for me :D Just grabbed one

  • Hi Rep. are we likely to see a deal on the mx6 combo soon?

  • Hi Rep no chance you will still honor this or another MX8 MK2 with leaf catcher deal will be up soon?

I see you have the MX6 but on further thought the MX8 would be much better and this was a great deal.

Neither will climb up and clean a step though? Let alone do any good if dropped in a 2m square spa with seat built in?

    Thanks
