    good deal, crap specs

    • +1

It's $200, what are you complaining about?

    • Actually the specs are quite good (i.e atom n450) and is similar to what you find on other netbooks atm. HOWEVER the build quility is uh… not the best.

  • crap specs? mate what do you expect for a $200 computer

    • i said good deal

      • But you said crap specs.

So what other good specs you can suggest for $200?

  • Is it this one: eMachines eM350-21G16i

    • -1

i think so??? O.O yea it should be

    • em350-21g16i pops up in the URL when you hit buy button.

    • comes with XP home

  • Errr…OP I don't get it, how do you get $169?

    • The jbhi-fi cashback via redemption PLUS the acer cashback scheme
      i.e $39*2= $78 cashback

      • +2

but surely the jbhifi cashback is the Acer cashback?

      • After looking at the site I think the jbhifi cash back is the acer cash back? i.e. only one $39 cashback
"All Cashbacks via supplier redemption. Time limits apply to cashbacks and bonus offer redemptions. TV prices exclude postage & handling costs incurred with bonus redemption.
        Acer $39 Cashback
Buy a selected Acer Computer to receive a cashback via redemption. Click here to claim and find out more."

        • +1

I hate these cash back deals. They should just take the amount off the price.

If anyone is seeking cash back from Acer make sure you send your claim by registered mail.

        • If anyone is seeking cash back from Acer make sure you send your claim by registered mail

Good advice for any cashback! ;)

  • From where the page tell u JB will give u cashback ……. !!!!

The cash back is from ACER.

    Please correct it.

    • opps my bad. Fixed!

  • +1

Wonder if this is online only? If it's instore aswell could wait until the 10th and get another 15% off? http://www.jbhifi.com.au/fandf/
    That would make it $170.95!

    • if they last until the 10th… id imagine they will sell out.

  • "Register your details at Acer within 14 days of purchase.
A unique cashback claim number is generated for each successful registration, enabling you to track your cashback claim every step of the way."

You cannot claim Acer cashback twice..

  • can't see any mention of eMachines on the Acer cashback list…closest is the Aspire Ones, are they ever on that list?

  • You have to go though the eemachines list

    So tempting…..

    Must resist….

  • This machine is very good for the price. I have bought 5 in previous months. Surprised that eMachines extends the cash back once again.
The only problem I found so far is the sound card. When you use ear piece, you can clearly hear the cracking noise when you adjust the volume at lower end.
Don't just look at the frequency. N450 beats N270/280 way much.

    • To avoid this problem you can use a usb headset.

  • IS this a 3 cell or a 6 cell?

    • pretty sure its 3 cell. BUT the good thing is u can use the 7800mAh 9 cell battery designed for the Acer 532h with the em350 (win!) or u can purchase the battteries designed for em350 of ebay
      heres the 532h batt:
      http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280574…

should give a boost to up to 9 hrs batt life with Windows 7 and WiFi on.

      • I fits the 532 battery? Amazing!

  • My em250 from the beginning of this year has been reduced to a space saving HTPC (that does not play 1080/720 lol). I'm wondering how this em350 would stand up in performance…

  • The em250 build quality was pretty good though - this one looks abit plasticky from pictures

  • I picked one up a couple of weeks ago got havey norman to price match the clive peeters deal for $198 after cash back. I must say that I am really happy with it for the price is nice and light and has good battery time.

  • I got one from Harvey Norman-awesome laptop. Can't complain :)

Can't buy online anymore :S. They removed the Buy Online button.

  • I just posted this deal:

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/33818

Cheaper, no cashback, and arguably better brand.

    • Do u know it is only 8.9" screen and older CPU.

    • I know the CPU is out of date. I didn't see the screen size difference though.

      Where's the edit button gone?

EDIT: oh this post has an edit button but my other one doesn't :/

Is it because someone replied to it?

    • I looked at one of those before I got them to price match the acer and the acer is a lot better the salesman even said so.

      • +1

        Dont trust the SALESMAN!

    Some pointers (again):

The em350 has 2 USB ports and a VGA port (plug in to your monitor). No carry bag included.

    Battery:
3 cell battery will not last long, but will last longer if your not watching video’s or installing files.

    Games:
You can only play the VERY basic games, high end games WILL NOT WORK on this netbook.

    Ram:
To replace ram you need 1x2GB stick.

If you are running windows xp home 1GB of ram is enough, no need to upgrade.

If you want to upgrade to Window 7 (recommended ram):
    Windows 7 32 bit = 1GB ram
    Windows 7 64 bit = 2GB ram

Windows 7 64 bit works fine with 1GB of ram although, but it may get slow at times.

    CPU:
The n450 1.6Ghz cpu will rarely hit 100% capacity, so its a pretty decent cpu for most tasks performed on a netbook.

    Alternative to Microsoft office:
    Openoffice (supports office document conversion)

    Free Anti virus:
Avg Free or Microsoft Security Essentials

    Free Firewall:
    Comodo (recommended) or Windows Firewall

mine came with norton internet security thinking of uninstalling it and putting a free alternative on instead slows things down too much inho.

how would u install windows 7 if u dont have an external dvd rom? can it be installed from a flash drive?

  • I reserved one yesterday at Chadstone, overall I am impressed. Didnt count on having a webcam, mic and SD card reader, but it does! Nice pickup, thanks!

  • My order was cancelled today! I ordered very soon after this deal was posted too! Are JB not honoring the purchase? It states creditcard payment funds are put on hold until the item is ready to send out? Can someone who has bought off their website before confirm this? Just making sure they don't take my money & send nothing…..
