Anyone wanna split 16gb each in Syd haha.

    • If these are 3000MHZ model I would split with you, but alas no :(

      • +1

Splitting voids the warranty. There would require all 4 sticks back, regardless if only 1 of the sticks was faulty only.

No RGB LED.. no bling? only 2800Mhz .. WWHHHAT omg did we go back to 2015!

No Disco inside my PC, NO buy!

  • I have 2x16 and wanting to get another 2x16 but the price is almost double the 4x8. Just ridiculous.
    .

  • wow thats cheap. I paid 250 for 16gb of geil disco ones. /sad

  • damn if these were rgb id be all over it like white on rice

paid a lil more for 16b gskill 3200 rgb

Building a new rig with 8600k and Asus Z370-H - this set does not appear on the Qualified Vendor List. Be careful :)

    • +2

Very high chance it would work anyway just because its corsair/a very common ram manufacturer, but yeah still a small risk :(

      • +2

Yeah, change the timings back to 15-15-15-36. it should work.

The beauty of Intel systems is that it just doesn't matter - I've built countless Intel systems just using whatever RAM. Ryzen is much more finicky with RAM overall.

      • +1

Not anymore.. all motherboards with the latest bios support pretty much all DDR4 sticks and work fine… now getting those sticks running above 3000Mhz will require some compatible brands for those looking to overclock ram.. for Gaming its not really as important as running a better graphics card beats overclocking ram

        • Depends on the board I guess. I have two Ryzen systems, my ASUS X370 Pro is great with RAM support, but my MSI X370 SLI Plus is really finicky and can be very temperamental with RAM support.

        • @psterio: did you try and update the bios for the MSI?

    • +2

Would suggest you change to a better mobo if you plan to overclock. The Strix-h has rubbish low end 4-phase VRM which is not intended for overclocking.

  • PC Newbie here.

When it comes to ram can you mix and match or do you need all of the same sticks?

I recently bought a gaming rig with this motherboard X99A GAMING PRO CARBON:
    https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/X99A-GAMING-PRO-CARBON.html

And currently has 16gb Corsair Vengence 2400 Ram (2x8GB)

Would I be able to buy these sticks and throw them in the extra slots giving me 52GB of ram?

    Cheers!

    • You want to match the timings and frequencies

      • I see, thanks for the response but I'm not too sure what that means being a PC Noob haha.

Im guessing I will have to do some more more research on the topic.

Go to the bottom of the page:

          Speed: 2800MHz
          Tested Latency: 14-16-16-36
          Voltage: 1.35V

        • @currentfad:

ok so you're saying I just need to make sure these 3 specs to match across all my sticks of ram?

If they don't match what happens? Does it just not work or perform poorly?

          Thanks!

          @SkMed:
No. See below. More than likely it will play nicely with whatever you currently have, though there is always a tiny risk it won't.

        • @SkMed:

It will work fine!! .. all stick will probably end up at 2400Mhz though… even though these can be run at 2800Mhz

Its really not a worthwhile upgrade unless you need the extra ram… i would wait until prices come down in the future to buy ram and by then you may also require more then 16GB's . :)

RAM automatically down-clocks to the lowest modules frequency, and in most cases will also adjust timing to the largest modules timing (they have numerous pre-programmed profiles). You can even mix modules of different capacity (eg. 8GB +4 GB). But ideally you will have everything the same.

  • i believe it wont be available.

  • They already gave me a call. OOS.

    • Did they say any would be honored?

  • page removed.. just after I created an account to buy..

  • I wonder if it might be a pricing error. If meant to be $353. Then again it might be just them clearing out old stock.

  • +1

RAM prices have gone up a lot in recent times - I suspect this was old stock.

    • Yes i'm suspecting that too. The new 32GB kits are 2 x 16GB stick kits. This was a 4 x 8GB kit so is older manufactured RAM.

  • possibly error

  • Work on Gigabyte Z97X mobo?

    • No, Z97 is DDR3 not DDR4.

      • ok thanks :-(

  • I noticed these on price hipster a few nights back
