Likely to work with Aldi SIM ? Aldi one of best options for emergency back up phone with 365 day expiry

    • +2

      Need to be unlocked

      • Why wouldn't it work with a Telstra MVNO?

        • +4

          They have different network id

        • Doesn't aldi use the telstra network? I'm sure I've heard telstra-locked phones work with ALDI. Or has that changed?

(just like optus-locked phones work with amaysim sims - I've verified that one myself).

EDIT checking wp, they say that you can't do it with newer phones, but works with older phones. This is certainly an "older" kind of a phone - could someone try an ALDI sim in this specific phone, and report whether it works or not, please?

    • Yes if you unlock it, keys were available on eBay for 1-2 british pounds when I unlocked mine

•Capture your favourite moments with the camera (0.3 megapixels)

    • That is a solid 300 kilopixels!

      • +2

        307200000 millipixels!!!!

    • That's a funny way to promote the phone lol

      Like we should be impressed

    • It makes sense if they said "non favourite"

  • I have some of these… they are reallllly basic phones!

    • +2

It's so basic but I love it, battery lasts for ages, the tactile feel of real buttons, the thing won't break when you drop it, etc. Like phones in the good old days.

    • Do they have Bluetooth?

    • also it can run a facebook app, so really it can do all you need!

    Is this national wide?

Be aware this phone has 3g 850m only, so can not be used for Optus or Vodafone after unlocked.

    • +3

I logged into say and reiterate what @lovbargain said above. Phone won't work at all with a Optus/Vodafone/etc SIM.

Since the Optus/Vodafone 2g networks have been switched off this/last year, the only (3g) network bands this phone is compatible with now is Telstra network bands (or Telstra subs like Aldi if you unlock it). Even if you unlock the phone itself from Telstra, putting an Optus/vaya/yomojo/etc SIM is useless because it can't talk to their towers any more. So don't buy it and unlock it as a spare backup phone for Optus network like I did!

    • I have same fone unlocked and it works with telstra & vodafone but not optus sims

      • +1

You probably hit some Vodafone 850m 3g cell, which Vodafone is refarming them for LTE.

        • NOt sure but it was a $2sim one
This was just last week when i did the optus switch over for $30 15gb plan.

  • "the pricing label"
They walk among us - and sometimes get voted in.
That one only made it to management.

At this price, it's good enough to chuck my actual sim in this phone and chuck a data sim in my smartphone. Great post!

    • +1

      What's the point?

      • +1

Lol so I can still receive messages but tether / hotspot my data.
Kind of like having a dual sim only with different phones.

Android is basically unuseable with 512MB RAM so I hope its got more than that.

    • +3

      It doesn't have Android.

      • Hmm What would be the cheapest Android phone I can buy?

        • +2

Wait for upcoming xmas sales. last year (after cashback and starter pack), the vodafone huawei y6 elite was $9.

Cue ozbargainer who asks if this phone has NFC or will be getting android Oreo.

    • Band 28?

    • How about wireless charging?

  • Worth buying to stomp on or to hit with a hammer!

    • It wouldn't be very satisfying. The thing weighs like 30g and it feels like you could crush it like a walnut for those who can crush walnuts with their hands.

  • Anyone know what sort of charger this has?

  • +1

Went to my local Coles in Roxburgh park, Vic, no promotion for this phone packae.. still showing $39

  • can anyone confirm that the ebay sellers advertising to cheaply unlock the telstra cruise t126 actually can?

    • +2

tried 3 ebay sellers, none of them found the unlock code. Did it myself using DC-Unlocker, paid for 7 euro (~11 AUD), it's unlocked now using aldi sim :).

      • It's costs more to unlock the phone than the phone itself? Any idea why the eBay codes don't work?

      • Would this phone not work locked still for Aldi Mobile as well as Woolworths Mobile etc. as same carrier?
