seems like a lot of money to pay for a Google Home.

Seems like a lot of money to pay for The Australian toilet paper.

        Yep. Absolute garbage rag.

        • Are you still bitter they endorsed Kevin Rudd before the 2007 election?

        • what newspaper/outlet do you recommend?

        • -1

@spo22a: free ones. :) also for some papers that are behind paywalls, if you google the title or the first paragraph, the article comes up and you can read for free.

        • @spo22a:
I subscribe to the age, Digital subscriptions are much cheaper. iPad app is actually really nice!

          @drjt87:

          I subscribe to the age,

why bother, you can read 95% of their articles online for free

    • it's handy, you just read The Australian articles to it & then ask if it's fake news.

Then when finished reading ask Google to play the lastest ABC news (and if if it's fake news).

  • Hmm can we cancel after 14 days and still receive Google Home?

    • +3

No cancellations during the first 12 months. Then, renewals occur unless cancelled in accordance with the full Terms and Conditions. They covered that part LOL

      • No cancellations during the first 12 months.

I think it's also part of the contract that you actually read their news.

        • They provide news?

        • @Lunchguy:

          Sometimes it's olds.

Will wait till google home is offered free with a toilet roll.

  • Nothing is ever free

  • Normal subscription is $8 per week. So posting extra $2 per week for the Google Home…

  • +10

Sorry but this seems like a stupidly high subscription cost for a stupidly crap paper. No deal.

  • +1

Hahaha this is crap compared to what was that Herald Sun $28 per 4 weeks digital subscription + Sennheiser HD 4.50 bluetooth NC headphone. It was also Courier Mail too because i took it up through Courier Mail. The headphone retails for $300-$329.

As for this. Google Home is no more than $200 max retail.

    • How good is the ANC on that thing?

      • Kind of average i suppose. Wouldn't be as good as a Bose QC35 but still ok.

Read by bently driving rich white geriatric racist homophobic climate denying turds. Doubt these people are here looking for bargins.

  • "Google" -> what's a newspaper?

    • More like "Ok Google, what's the actual news today" - this newspaper is so bad it just has sensationalist articles that are either warped beyond belief, irrelevant or outdated.

  • Given the climate denying pro coal agenda, I'm surprised they aren't paying people to read it.

    • I suspect they supply you with the Charcoal model too

To all the negatives here, as I normally already pay $32 per 4 weeks for the Aus, this works out for me as a deal, since I get the Google Home for 13 x $8 = $104, cheaper than the retail price of ~ $150.

But of course, it's a free country, no one forces you to buy Rupert's stuff if you don't want to. I do, to balance out my other reading, the left leaning UK (and Aus) Guardian.

    • I believe this is for new subscribers only. Not current subscribers. So i don't think you could get it. It's a 12 month contract for new subscriptions.

      • It worked for me, even with my existing sub.

        • Well it goes against what it says in the T&C.

          "New customers only."

        • @hollykryten:

Shhhhhh! Don't tell Rupert. But I have a confirming email re the Home.

    • We have all seen how well it works out when there's only media from one side of the political spectrum in a society. Actually judging by the comments on here some of us haven't.
