PowerColor Radeon Limited Edition Vega 64 - AU$693.76 Shipped @ Newegg

120

Good deal for the Vega 64, even better considering it's the limited edition. Around GTX 1080 performance for this price is pretty good, even better if you are after computing power.

  • Thats actually pretty cheap, and the silver versions looks pretty sexy, but Ill pass cause of the power draw - already had a Fiji (R9 Nano), Vega just seems like Fiji 2.0

  • From what I can understand, these cards are basically stock overclocked to compete with Nvidia.

If you undervolt or get the Vega 56 I think the performance per watt is much better.

    • +1

180 watts for the 1080 compared to 300 wats of the 64 vega… I'll stick with the 1080… Which the 64 almost come up to in terms of performance…

About 30 cents a day more to run the card…*365 the electricity costs can be as much as 100 extra a year… So it's pretty much the same price as the 1080, the same performance…. but not quite, which makes the performance per watt terrible!

      It's can't compete.

And should have made the card at least 100 cheaper to account for the additional energy requirements… Not to mention then you'll also require a more beefy power supply again more $$$

      • I read that AMD loses money on each Vega sold anyway, they were told the HBM 2 would be amazing, it wasn't, they still pay the price for it.

I have a Vega 56, undervolted it sucks less juice, so it runs cooler, which allows its boost mode to run longer allowing for faster speeds. I'm happy with it, but that is because I am happy to tweak.

  • I hope to see the Vega shine in up and coming DX12 games. It certainly has the power, just needs to be utilized correctly

    • It certainly 'draws' power..

  • will get a international fee from this purchase from newegg or bhphoto?

  • +3

With AMD drivers and software support improving, the Vega cards are improving in performance too.

Wolfenstein II for example shows the Vega 64 performing better than the GTX 1080Ti at 1080p and 1440p, but not at 4k. However it is much faster than the GTX 1080 at any resolution.

In Forza 7, Vega 64 and Vega 56 are faster than the GTX 1080TI.

This is primarily due to the API used, but it shows that Vega architecture is capable of more when supported.

  • Damn it…. Out of stock.
