So close to just getting one, since I have a Freesync monitor. Holding out for the AIB/aftermarket cards, but it's so incredibly painful! The Vega release and lineup has required such an insane level of patience.

    • What do you mean "insane level of patience"?
You mean these Vega cards are overpriced? Due to mining, most cards are over priced. Don't think we can do much about it…

AMD were aiming to launch the RX Vega lineup First Quarter of this year. Then it was First Half. Then Third Quarter. The company were originally very open and loud with marketing Vega, but suddenly went silent for months after the release of NVIDIA's GTX 1080 Ti.

Those that waited for Vega received a card that ran hotter and louder than NVIDIA's GTX 1080, with less performance and almost double the power requirement at the same price (or more), around a year later than the original GTX 1080 launch date.

This is finally changing with undervolting the card, driver/performance updates and price reductions (Vega 64 RRP is supposed to be US $499), but now we're waiting on better performing, quieter and cooler aftermarket cards from companies such as ASUS and Gigabyte.

It's been pretty ridiculous. Many passed up getting other cards to wait for Vega. Luckily I'm patient.

This is a fine card at a reasonable price if you don't mean to overclock too much (or if you're willing to give undervolting a shot), and you have a quality power supply. They can get quite loud, however.

Yeah, but don't be surprised if your patience for Vega aftermarket cards is rewarded with a near-simultaneous release of a Volta-architecture NVIDIA GTX 1180 (or 2080, idk what they're meant to be calling it). But that's always the way. That said, if you've got a freesync monitor, waiting probably makes sense.

I really 'need' a laptop for work this summer and should probably just get one now, but I'm 'waiting' on seeing if the 8700HQ is going to be 6-core/12t.

          Better wait for Navi.

          Yeah understand now. Thanks.
I've got a freesync monitor, so unfortunately I am locked into Vega.
Would much rather GTX1080 as with Vega it does get quite hot and power bills is very expensive these days.
Maybe ADAPTIVE sync is OVER RATED?
I think GTX 1080 would look just fine without adaptive sync.

Yep, I won't buy any video card unless its got a couple of big fat fans on the front of it.

      • If you don't mind never being able to overclock and loud fans then this isn't a bad card for the money.

I'm more keen for the 56 aftermarket card myself - as I only game in 1080p and I have no need for the crazy power draw of the 64. I too want some more fans on my GFX card!
