Southern Phone Now Offering $10/Mth 1GB Unlimited Calls/SMS Mobile Plan

120

Since amaysim launched their new $10/28 day 1GB data with unlimited calls/SMS deal we now see others joining the party.
Today I see adverts for Southern Phone advertisng the same deal (almost) but $10 per month instead of only 28 days.
However be aware that the Southern phone offer is via a 12 month plan committment and that any excess data over 1GB will be billed at $10/GB.
I expect Kogan wont be far behind on this one.

Easy money to be made charging $10 for another gb every time you use the data you have paid for, whether you want it or not, making it next to impossible to ever use what you have paid for, and it's very difficult to know how much you have used, kudos to Kogan who cut it off once used until you purchase more.

    • total agree. have been with the vaya plan 10dollars a month for almost a year. half of the months are over… and not very cheap acturally.

  • I hope Kogan do follow them but I haven’t seen a Vodafone reseller’ go that low, the Optus resellers seem to be able to go a lot cheaper

  • price war started

  • I'm all for this and my previous 12 months of Kogan ($125 for the 1GB plan [now 1.5GB]) has been great but the lack of international roaming is a problem especially with all the verification texts that are often needed by banks and different apps.

Amaysim seems to have similar rates to Optus but lacks a few countries and Southern Phone doesn't seem to publish rates (which probably means they're expensive).

    • So what happens with the verification texts ? Do they get blocked?

      • If you're overseas and don't have roaming on the service (Kogan don't offer it) then it simply won't come through. Text messages are stored on the server for a few days but if you travel out of Australia for over a week then you'll never receive the message.

Any telsta reseller currently offering $10, if anybody knows pls share.

  • There's also a month to month, no contract deal. Same unlimited calls and text, 500mb data. $10 per month.
