Is the zhiyun anygood? I just worry buying something that will stop working from lack of support or what not in the future. Does the zhiyun rely on software to operate?
You don't need to use its software. Just use the buttons to operate it.
Only downside is it does not work too well with larger phones despite the advertising for support. Even after adjustments to compensate the weight (of my Note 8 + light case), mine seems to drop the position. Works well with the lighter smaller phones and Sports cams though
There is a Smooth 3 model which slightly more heavy duty. But still may not be able to cope ith a Note 8.
The Smooth 3 advertises 40% more torque and up to 280g of phone vs 200g on this model but asking twice the price as what's on sale here (Note 8 is 190g without the case). I have to play with it a bit more to see if I can get it to continue working without it dropping like that (works for a while)..
@bchliu: Just received mine today from Mobileciti's recent similar deal. Tested it with my iPhone 8 Plus (with tempered glass screen protector on), overall the phone must weighs 205g+. I am quite surprised Smooth Q still managed to keep the phone balance but the gimbal motor must be working hard.
@edfoo: Mine does work.. have to push the slot out to maximum to balance the phone per se. I'd use it for about 5 minutes and it will drop into the lifeless position from there. Works ok on my ZUK Z2 and iphone 6S where its smaller and lighter though. I might load up the app and see if I can connect to it for any firmware upgrade?
@bchliu: Just tested recording for 7 minutes with my iPhone 8 Plus and the gimbal works fine. Did not drop into that lifeless position you described. Wonder why?
@edfoo: I did change between modes a bit and noticed the third mode doing it most often (whatever that is.. think it is "freeview" mode). If it keeps doing this, I'll take it back to MobileCiti to show them..

I still get weird looks when I walk around with my Feiyutech G4 + GoPro camera.
All these people in OzBargain who have ordered and used it is still a small percentage of the whole population.
I bought one for the mrs, and never used it for 4 months we had it. Sold it :)
they used it for something else.. adult toys
I use it for videos of my little girl. Do bear in mind that it's not completely foolproof u gotta know your approach angle to get it to work the best.
Also mine might be an isolated incident but I have had issues with my battery discharging even though I use correct chargers and currents. I wouldn't buy one now again purely cos it seems like.its failing on me.

I had a similar query, looked in Ebay, there is an mount for GoPro hero 3/4 for $12, all you have to do is shave of the top and side of that square and make a hole at the bottom flat, to fix the action camera, Olympus TG tracker in my case, 180 + ~30/40 grams, so will still be within the payload weight spec…
Be careful though that the plate and camera combined do not go over the weight limit. So you need to get a fairly light one for it too work.
