If you are quick go to OW and get them to match and take 5% off the price for iPod but be quick as they usually adjust their prices to match the lowest so no 5% price beat

The GPS is same at OW but sold out mostly.

  • Good price but 8GB is too low for an iPod Touch especially if you take into consideration apps and videos.

    • disagree because i dont put videos on and its working well with about 1000 songs and 100 apps

i think you've lost your perspective on what 8GB can do, just because there are bigger models out there.

if there was a 2GB model then you can complain

      • -1

FIFA 11 on itouch takes up 1gb, Modern Combat 2 (the game with ps2 graphics) takes up 700 mb.

Sure, u can install 100 different fart apps in 8gb lol, but not the top quality console games (most of which r better than psp quality see http://img.slidetoplay.com/screenshots/modern_combat_2_2.jpg and http://theappera.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/modern-comba…)will fill 8gb up fast.

Of course casual games r much smaller and ur claim (8gb = 100 apps) is true for those that dont want to utilise the retina display to its max capabilties and want to play boring 2d games.

        • +1

Wow, have u ever deleted games that u finished a few times with?

        • -1

i like how you think games are the end all be all for the ipod touch.

sorry but my apps are more like guides and handbooks etc. still, they're a good 5-50mb each.

      • I'd hate to see the bitrate of your music

        • 160 or higher. dont worry i know whats good for me =)

        • eewww 160

        • +2

lol. i challenge you to a blind test. i'll buy you this new touch if you can tell 160 from cd.

        • +1

I can tell 192 from flac does that count? Especially with live albums

        • interesting. aac or mp3? and what player and what headphones? maybe i'll need even better gear to tell them apart.

        • 192 mp3 v flac
I know I know aac is better but certain players can only handle mp3.
With that being said I'm using an old Toshiba F20 from years ago with Rockbox installed. As for earphones I'm using Westone UM3X personally, but every now and then I swap with my friend for a Westone 3 and can tell the difference on those. And sometimes I can pick up the difference with the sony erricson earphones that came with the walkman phones a few years back, but that's usually when I'm out and about doing some sort of activity.
Should make a bigger difference once I get an amp.
And honestly don't get yourself sucked into the SQ game the chase will never end, and your wallet will either thank you or allow you to spend it on something else if you don't.

      • Agreed, my 16gb is never anywhere near full, usually hovers around half or less! Any more stuff is just camping out there, idly using space!

Same here, I don't bother with videos on mine either - if I want to watch a video then I'll do so on my TV! Mine only gets used for audiobooks & music, not even many apps! ;)

        • If that's the case, try and up the bit rate of your music source and if you have half decent earphones, your ears will thank you for it

        • +1

@Trance, all of my music mp3s are 256kbps, I simply don't need to have it stuffed to the brim at any given time with content I'm not gonna use! ;)

My ears actually thanked my wallet for the cheap pink sennheisers I got from MyMemory a while back though! :)

    Negged for poor grammar.

    (not serious)

    • +17

Your right. Their is much abuse of grammar on the Internet. If only people could write good and not loose there way when typing. But I do take you're point.

      • Hmm, you should put an emoticon in your reply to indicate the poor grammar and spelling in your reply is intentional.

      • -5

Hmm, You should check your grammar before judging other ppl :)
P.S: Its "There is" NOT "Their is" :)

      • +2

        Silly me, I thought you're serious :)
        Sorry :)

      • +3

        LOLOLOLOL amir you fail !!!

        2 points 4 cluster =]

        • Heh :-)

        • +5

          Whoosh! :p

        • +6

LOL so you missed rest of the mistakes and jumped straight on to the last one. Hmm.

        • +5

          Right over his head.

        • +4

"don’t act smart if you can’t be in the first place :)"

        • -2

someone already picked up on it above, so there wasn't a need to raise it again.

Oh my bad, so there are four mistakes altogether.

        • +4

no amount of mockery will redeem what you did up there =P

        • I count 6 deliberate mistakes (if you include "If only people could write good"), not four.

          double fail?

        • Indeed daveted, I put 6 deliberate mistakes in. Correct grammar would be "write well" not "write good" :-)

        • @ Cluster, would you have also accepted "right gooder"? :p

    • +2

      esq, I ain't even mad.

      • +3

A+++ perfect umadbromanship, would umadbro again.

Uhm I think it starts from the 11/11 ?

    "Apple iPod Touch

    $247.00

    Starts 11 November - Ends 17 November"

Do you think OW will match that price now? hmmmm

    • They may do. I have pricematched with DSE on Big W price before its gone on sale previously.

    • +1

      hi what is OW?

  • +1

I believe the title is meant to say "(Get for $234 if You're Quick)"

is bigw a good retailer to buy an ipod from? i only ask due to bad experiences at other stores when there has been problems with the ipod (i.e DOA) they made me post it off myself to apple :(

    • I'm pretty sure with this sort of stuff, within the first week or month the retailer is obliged to return it for you.

      • Retailers have a statutory obligation to do this for you for the entire warranty period IIRC, regardless of their store policy! They might bitch, moan & try to weasel out, but stand your ground, know your rights as a consumer & quote FT legislation to them & they'll cave! Remember, nothing supersedes your statutory rights! ;)

I've actually given them such a serve on occasion when they've tried to be smarmy, & been such a total pain & refused to drop it when seeking a replacement item, that the managers have often just offered me a refund! ;)

That said, in some instances it is actually easier for the customer to approach the manufacturer's agent directly, such as the case for in-home warranty on big screen TV's etc. This cuts out the middle man so to speak, so it's often faster! :)

        • As in the manufatures warranty? So if you have something that has say a 3 year manufacuter warranty you could legally take it back to the retailer instead of trying to get it to the manufacturer? Thanks for letting me know that :)

      • I thought it was only for the first year?
After that if it still has warranty you take it directly to the person who supplies the warranty and not the shop.

        • I always take my stuff back to the retailer & make them do it whenever feasible! From the FTNSW website:

If a consumer returns a faulty item, liability can be shared between the supplier and the manufacturer. However, it is ultimately the supplier's responsibility to resolve the complaint.

Sometimes though, if it's in home warranty, or the manufacturer has a courier pickup, or their service dept is closer than the retailer; I'm more than happy to go direct! :)

    • +1

BigW is large enough to generally not care and will accept returns no questions asked. Smaller stores run on tighter margins and kick up a fuss about returns.

    • +1

they can't do that legally, as the contract of purchase is betwen you and Big W, and they represent Apple.

  • I just did exactly that during lunchtime today. OW noticed that the Big W catalogue starts tomorrow and nearly tried not to honour the deal, but buckled within 5 seconds. 8GB is plenty for a 13 yr olds Xmas present $234.65 is the OW price to be exact.

  • Guess you guys are right about being quick aye, Orange Grove, i mean errr Liverpool North OW sold them for 247….

  • To anybody who missed out from p'matching at officeworks, make sure you check out D*ck Smith Electronics, today the (reluctantly) did the same for me.

  • Not a bad deal! but the 32GB can be had 2nd hand $150 on ebay. most people will accept anything for there iphone as they have iphone 4's or want a iphone 4. but probably the best thing for a Christmas present, Would be funny seeing some one open up the box this Christmas and seeing iPhone an realizing theres no 4 next to it lol.. they might be scared to open another box just in-case theres a nintendo 64 there LOL.. dont let me turn you off there full of fun. i own one.

    • I want my super nintendo to work again :'(
Need to buy a new controller for it…..

  • Bought this at OW last night for $247. I had called at midday to 'check' if they'd honour the price, but what I suspect I inadvertantly done was to tip them off, so they changed the price by the time I came in.

The salesguy said they check for market updates during the morning, and adjust the prices at 2:00pm… who knows if this is the case for this event only, or if it's a standard time for adjustment (so we know in future to make it in before 2:00pm).

Might be useful info, might now. Thanks to Bargrin for posting the initial post.

It's $55 below rrp and it's an apple product. That rarely ever happens.

  • I accidentally broke my old iPod Touch Gen2 2 days ago and was thinking to get a new one. The price matched by OW is right for me.

  • Just picked up a 4th gen 32gb for $338 from Target Brisbane City - they had them on xtra special !!!

  • Did a phone order with Office Works this morning and the price came up at $234 plus $4.95 for phone order with Free same day delivery. Fantastic thanks!
