    Battery life is excellent on this phone, easily getting 11-12 hrs SOT. The only thing which was a downside was the camera, however this can now be improved with the Google Camera HDR+ Port, do note that this app will not work with the stock ROM and will require root access to change the build prop

      which rom are you using? Does the mido fork of Lineage work for the 4X as well as the note 4?

        The snapdragon note 4/4x are considered the same. I used lineageos for a while and it was great, only changed to resurrection remix for extra customisation. It's good too, although it has gone a little slow on me so I'm thinking I'll reflash soon. Ymmv

      You are right that build.prop file needs to be edited but it can be done on stock ROM and without root access. To edit the build.prop file, all you need is custom recovery like TWRP, which can be installed by only unlocking the bootloader. You can edit build.prop file by mounting system partition in TWRP. So Root access is not required and this app works on stock ROM as well once the camera2 api is enabled.

          unlocking your bootloader will wipe the phone. In which case, might as well install a custom rom, recovery and whatever custom apps you want LOL..

          Xiaomi bootloader unlocking works a bit differently so if you do it through Xiaomi official method, it will not wipe your phone. It is always recommended to take backup before attempting something like this though.

          I don't have this phone but Google says "settings..about phone..then tap a lot on "kernel version" and choose the first option in the pop-up window." if it shows imx258 that's the Sony.

    Thanks OP. Got the 16GB to act as a front end for a XR16 mixer I installed at our local church. Was using my Redmi 3 for a while but now they have a dedicated unit. Gives one a good excuse to fiddle the phone during service when you are actually controlling mics and music.

    i got the 16GB version last week.
    While storage would be too small for me a full time phone, its a fantastic spare.
    After 3 days wait to unlock the bootloader, ive flash Resurrection Remix (Lineage/Cynanogenmod Fork) and its much faster than i ever expected.
    Never seen battery like this and i havent even seen a bug.

        No idea about the sims. I used an SD card for backups so i can only use one anyway, needed a micro sim adaptor though.

    $170 for the Black 32gb on this offer is good. The monks have it for $185. I am after the Gold coloured one, either the 32 or 64. Right now ShopMonk has these for $187 & $207 respectively. $20 buys me $32gb of storage. I will wait for the gold 32 or 64gb now.

      yes it will work straight away. But some of us like to re-flash the global rom to make sure there is no malware on the phone. Also you may find some rom has better performance than the original rom. I am going to flash mine with lineage os rom, it has more like google stock.

          not really, the phone is amazing and the battery life will last you over a day easily. But as I stated before, some of us take further steps to gain more from the phone. Don't worry you will be ok without flashing it.

    Got my phone through expedited shipping 2 weeks after buying. Worked out well, as I moved houses and changed the DHL pickup address. 16GB Black model. $155 in total.

    Would have got the 32gb if I had known about the priority shipping as its only $10 more eventually.

    Bonus was that, I got the rarer Samsung Sensor as compared to the Omnivision.

    What screen protectors do you guys use? The tempered one that I ordered does not fit due to the curved glass.
