Sennheiser White CX300s with Asymmetric Cable - $19.60 Delivered

910

These in-ear earphones use the exact same drivers and earpiece as the Sennheiser CX300 series, the only difference between a pair of normal White CX300 and this product is that this has an asymmetric cable, which means that you have a shorter length cable for the left earphone and a much longer cable for the right earphone, which is supposed to go behind your head, along your neck. Hence they are advertised differently as "Sennheiser Eco Ear Canal Headphones"
I have finally received the pink sennheiser cx300 from mymemory as well, which I have compared the sound quality and I can confirm these sound exactly the same.
The earphone plugs into your audio device are the same, the pink CX300s
At under $20AUD delivered (using paypal rates), these earphones are ridiculously cheap for their audio quality.
Do note, that due to christmas stock being shipped around, these will take around 3 weeks (it usually takes 10 days for me, this time it took 3 weeks) to arrive on your doorstep, maybe a little longer.
"Features:
- Packaging made from 78% recycled paper, 100% recyclable, NO plastics, NO glues
- Minimized printing on packaging, maximised product protection
- Powerful, bass-driven stereo sound
- Perfect ear canal fit due to ear adapters in different sizes (included in the delivery)
- Excellent attenuation of ambient noise
- Extremely small and lightweight
- Ideal for use with all MP3, CD, DVD, MD players and portable game systems with 3.5 mm headphone sockets
- Asymmetrical cable"
"Specification

  • Frequency response: 18Hz - 21kHz
  • Cable length: Asymmetrical, L: 170 mm; R: 510 mm, (850 mm divider to plug)
  • Impedance: 16 Ohm
  • Sound pressure level (SPL): 112 dB (1 kHz, 1 Vrms)
  • Jack plug: 3.5 mm stereo (angled)
  • Ear coupling: intraaural (ear canal fit)
  • Transducer principle: dynamic, open"
If you want me to compare them to a product, I will say this:
I believe these $20 pair of sennheiser eco canal in-ears have much better clarity in terms of sound quality as compared to these Beats By Dr. Dre earphones (I've listened to my friend's pair), the Sennheisers have a slightly less smack-in-your-face punchy bass, and rather have a light warm roaring bass in them.
Now an audiophile may say that my comparison is just BS, since anything with Beats by Dr. Dre is just crap and marketting, which I do agree, but I'm comparing a very cheap pair of Sennheisers (less than $20) vs some piece of crap that retails for $229.95, and I am confident enough to say, that these completely blow the Beats By Dr. Dre out of the water.
Comparing to the MetroFi 220vs, I would personally prefer these over them, mainly because these have a warm roar in their bass, clarity-wise, they are very similar (I would prefer these, but that's up to you to decide).
Note: The Mymemory site has put up the White CX300II image on it, that is wrong, Amazon link - Zoom in pics of the box here

i didnt read any of the description. I just want to share that i have owned a real pair of these and they are awesome.

I have fake CX-500's now and they are even better.

    • +4

haha nice. Where'd you get the fakes from? COTD?

      • Lol, as slack as they are I don't think COTD would sell fake Senny's! ;)

I'll go out on a limb & suggest it was DX or FP! :p

      • +2

go them from focal price! for like $25!

Awesome cause the 500's have volume control.

        :)

  • +1

Hope these are good and genuine because it looks like an awesome find! It sounds like it would be a lot better than the Apple ear phones.

Edit: Just found out from one of cwongtech's post.. http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/6563/sennheiserproof.png

Looks like $20 well spent soon :)

    • +1

I have the Pink version of this from an earlier sale.
These will rape the standard iPod headphones in broad daylight; thats how much better they sound - indeed money well spent. I think i got it for about ~$13 the first time around

      • i still have not receive my pink one :(

        • When did you order them? There's a huge delay with mail :\

        • Yeah definitely check it out. I got my set at least a month ago. Shipping was within 2 weeks of ordering so follow it up with them asap.

    • +1

Drivers =/= same headphone. Pretty sure the build quality is lower than normal CX-300s following the logic that they wouldn't they sell a product that can be sold for much more at such a low price. Unless something else is compromised.

And comparison to Beats By Dr. Dre earphones seems unusual as beats are 150$+ not to mention ridiculously overpriced and sells via its visual appeal rather than sound quality.

I would like to see how these compare to SoundMAGIC PL30, ATH-CK6 and VSONIC R02PROII which are among the top low ended IEMs.

Still a nice find though (:

      • I'll post pictures in a sec. These have the same earpiece as cx300s as well.
Edit: DONE, click some links at the bottom of the post.
        They are the same =]
Beats by Dr. Dre seriously suck these
Listen to a pair from friends if you can, and you'll see what I mean by they lack clarity but have a punchy bass.
And also, they sell the pink CX300s at the same price.
The only reason why it seems so underpriced is due to us aussies being ripped off like crazy by retailers such as JB-Hifi, but hey, it keeps the local economy going.

  • I got the pink ones… It does sound pretty awesome. I also got a fake CX300. That sounds BAD!

    • Well you can get more real ones this time, haha =P

  • +2

I was going to ask this question but then thought I'd google it first.

So in case anyone else was going to ask if these were really CX300s, as there
is no mention on the webpage, here is the answer.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/forum/cd/discussion.html/ref=cm_c…

    • Check photos I have uploaded

  • Good buy!

  • +1

i bought a sennheiser CX500 online last time too.. i dont know if its fake, but it sounded quite good.

the only thing i hate with CX300 is its asymetrical..

    • Can you give up a little luxury if you prefer symmetrical cables instead, for a $20 pair of quality Sennheiser In-ears?

      • hmmm… thats a food for thought.. but i already have an earphone! hahaha.. damn, should i buy.. should i not.. lol

        • +1

Once they're fitted you'll never know the difference between symm & asymm! ;)

      • The pink ones are symmetrical. Same price.

  • mymemory does have a few good bargains if they are genuine. I just ordered the last JVC HA s360 headphones on their website which now shows out of stock http://www.mymemory.co.uk/Overhead-Headphones/JVC/JVC-HA-S36….

Another good one is Sennheiser Px200, http://www.mymemory.co.uk/Overhead-Headphones/Sennheiser/Sen… .

    • They are genuine! I'm a very happy mymemory customer! :)

IIRC from another thread you've recently placed an order with mymemory, I think in a few days you'll be very pleased that you did! ;)

  • +4

Just bought 3 to give away as presents.. Thats right people! Christmas!!

    • +1

nice! got 2 for presents too (one for myself!)

      • and one for me?

      • .

  • Anyone knows how long it will take to get them delivered to Sydney?

    • Used to be 10 days from payment (8 working) but I think all the mailing networks are having a slowdown cause of Christmas stock taking up all the space for freight and planes, with the exception of FedEx since they have their own planes.
I ordered my 2 headphones on 16th of October and recieved them 2 days ago.

    • LONG.. With the weather like today the sydney airport is now open only a few hours a day!

  • i have ordered from them 2 earphones on the 18 of last month and still haven't received … is it normal ?

    • Expect them this week or today, I ordered 2 HD228s and 1 of these on the 16th of last month, and only received them 2 days ago.
Mailing systems are having a slowdown cause of Christmas stock I suspect.

      • yeah i got them today :)

  • +5

    $19.53 with PayPal. 7 cents win! :P

    • 19.46 for me! Whooppeee!

  • As usual ozbargain saves me just in time! (my apple ones had the plastic bit that covers the head fall off) thank you:)
Incidentally did anyone sign up for that £15 cash back link when you finish ordering? I stopped reading when I saw it wanted cc details but maybe is legit, don't know mymemory well enough to risk it personally.

    • +1

fine print states that its for UK customers only

    • The exact same thing happened to me… Apple also have an exchange program open for the headphones as there were issues with the remote. May be worth filling out the online form to have them replaced

      http://www.apple.com/support/headphones/replacementprogram/

      • Hey thx for the info but unfortunately they aren't the remote ones shuffle ones, just from my old nano:( owell from what everyone is saying I'm getting an upgrade for $20' I can live with that

  • Have bought from mymemory a number of times before. Always been happy - fast shipping, good service. I bought a pair of CX300 (black) from them a year or two ago when on sale and can report they are the real deal (and still going strong!).

  • BTW These RRP at AU$80 (no surprise they are equal or better than the dr dre) and are not a Sennheiser design, the first canalphone Sennheiser designed were the IE series (IE6, IE7, IE8). This reminds me I should add my reviews of Westone UM3X and Westone 3s to the thread, along side the SE530.

  • i bought both the white and pink ones for $35.74 AUD, lovely!

  • +1

    What do you mean under $20 delivered? I am seeing £9.99 + £7.95 Shipping (International) = £17.94 ~= AUD$28.50

    Am I missing something?

    • Yep, you chose the international delivery with tracking [or the extra options one] which is £7.95, choose the one without tracking and its £1.95

  • How does this compare to Radius Atomic Bass?

  • I have no idea.. but u guys convinced me.. I'll take TWO! ; )

  • Oh I bought 2 white ones, but didn't know the pink CX300s were also 10pounds! Bah! Oh well

  • +1

i have no idea what im buying but holy cow im just buying casue this thread has given me an adrenalin kick.

    • +2

Pretty much why I buy half the stuff on here…ozbargain should get a fee for the free advertising it does!

  • -1

is that why my pink headphones haven't yet arrived. its been at least 3wks now.

    • If it reaches the end of the 3rd week, go to their website at around 8pm our time (well.. sydney time, no idea where you are =P) and click their live chat, and have a chat with them.

  • Props for the find.

    • +2

yeah, im sure those are genuine.

    • Ebay ones are "FAKE" dude, just do quick google search and you can find plenty of people confirming this.

      • -2

they have over 2600 buys and only a handful of negatives- which seem to be around wrong colour sent/lost in mail. Nothing about "fake".

And theyre from the UK- so it makes sense for the price they can sell at?

    • -1

Oh yeah, these are totally genuine. I remember purchasing a genuine flux capacitor from eBay for $149. True story.

    • +3

      1) The ones you have shown are CX300iis
      2) Have you got an email, from a Regional Sennheiser website that confirms your eBay seller is an Authorised Sennheiser dealer (hence guaranteed genuine)?
Also, yours is more EXPENSIVE + unknown supplier compared to a slightly cheaper product that is sourced from a company which has been confirmed as an Authorised Sennheiser Dealer from an email, provided by Sennheiser UK some time ago when I asked them through their contact link to verify mymemory.

      • -1

Are CX300iis better than the normal CX300? Also here were are just speculating (with some evidence) that these "non branded eco versions" are indeed "Cx300s".
edit: its like $5 more expensive but it seems to be a better product? :S

Ive personally bought two from mymemory, but Im jsut posting what ive found on ebay.

        • +2

          I'm not sure, I can't confirm that I have had real cx300iis.
I am speculating with some evidence, been a pianist for 8 years and have gained perfect pitch from it.
I'm 100% sure they're the same but marketted under a different name with an asymmetric cable.
Also, I've been involved with being raped from Sennheiser fakes over here, not being arrogant or anything, I'm just saying I pay close attention to detail.
Over 2000 feedback for your ebay seller, only one negative claiming FAKE. If I hadn't known about mymemory after my ebay experiences, I would have probably tried my luck with them.. apart from the fact that it's a more expensive product, and us OzBargainers pay as little as we can ;)
So I really don't understand why you would post a more expensive product from ebay and claim these aren't a bargain.

        • -1

          @cwongtech
If you found something for $5 cheaper, would you buy it straight away?
Firepowered is just suggesting people to not impulse buy when there are alternatives at a similar price.

        • +1

          @jared444
I would, considering that's 20% off for a quality cheap item from a verified Sennheiser seller, as compared to paying more to an unverified seller. Also, $5 off something at $25 is a good bargain, not $5 off a $100 item.
Firepower is suggesting a similar product at a more expensive price and stating that this bargain is not a bargain, he did not suggest people not to impulse buy.
This bargain has been going on for a long time, and there is no need to impulse buy (unless they run out of stock), I didn't post this as a bargain, only because I needed to confirm they are the same as the CX300 pinks in terms of sound quality (which I ordered specifically for that purpose) and I only received them yesterday.
Also, I am not trying to attack anyone, please do not take it that way, I am only stating what facts I can provide to fellow ozbargainers, because really, I get peeved off at companies that make crap products, overprice them, and succeed through their brand name (beats by dr. dre). Sennheiser don't overprice their products, Australian Retailers do.

        • Saving $5 on one thing is the same as saving $5 on another. It depends how difficult it is to save the $5 on the certain item though and the necessity of the item.

        • @jared444
No it doesn't, it's more like how significant the saving is.
Having a $5 discount when buying a new 43" LCD TV is insignificant, since you're willing to spend into the thousands anyway, people aren't going to impulse buy a TV because it says "Save $5!"
Saving $5 for a $25 value item is a significant discount. (Not really in this case, this is mymemory.co.uk's normal price, awesome)

        • +2

What you're mentioning is irrational consumer behaviour, which is what many do. If you want to argue that it isn't, just pick up a first year Microeconomics textbook.

        • +1

          @jared444
What you’re mentioning is irrational consumer behaviour, which is what many do. If you want to argue that it isn’t
I'm no economist, I'll take your word for it, I don't want to argue what term means what term, but I fail to see your view of firepowered suggesting to not impulse buy.

        • That's reasonable. I think their also probably fake, hence the flux capacitor comment ;), but I was taking into consideration that if they weren't fake.

      • +1

        @cwongtech
correction Sennheiser do overprice their products for what they're worth, then the retailers put a premium ontop of that.
Look at other gear from Sennheiser and you will see what I mean (and this is on an international scale not just local in Aus). Sennheiser products are always more expensive then something else that gives the same sound quality.
Also perfect pitch does not neccessarily mean you can tell which earphones are better than another. I've got this idiot in my grade that has perfect pitch and can't tell the difference between the sound quality from apple earbuds and Superfi5 let alone CX300s.
(this is from 3 years experience of price comparing, and 3 years experience with hi-fidelity audio equipment, not that my experience matters). With earphones each individual person's needs and preference are different, some prefer prominent bass and don't care about the clarity of the mids and highs, some prefer a neutral sound, some prefer a recessed mid and highs with a prominent bass without the mid's quality being compromised. Each to their own and for the bassheads the CX300s are great for this price, for people prefering a more neutral sound there are better options out there like SoundMagic, ViSang (aka Brainwavz), VSonic, etc.

        • I know, perfect pitch only means you can tell which note is which when played, but 8 years of music and exposure to a small range of premium earphones, fake ones and normal earphones, I feel give me a good feel of what determines a "good" pair of earphones.
Generally, unless you have been exposed to several headphones, you won't know the difference between normal earphones, and premium earphones.
My friend was blown away by these earphones (that I sold a new pair to him), after listening to the TDK in-ears that you get from OW for $30, apple earphones and $2 earphones he got from the reject shop.
I cannot comment on the Superfi5s, I'll assume they're better than apple earphones.
I've listened to several earphones, I'm no audiophile but I have a general idea what to listen out for (clarity, level of bass, treble).

        • +1

Obviously by the way that you're flouting these, you haven't had much exposure to earphones above the $100 mark. (You would be commenting on how these would be a great introduction into earphones or a nice upgrade from apple earbuds, instead of "bliss" straight off the bat). And clearly you have no idea how heavy the bass is on these (but I guess, each to their own, everyone has a different listening style, you could prefer heavy bass, but I don't know that).
I've been exposed to earphones from every price range (excluding customs), apple earbuds and cheap $2 earbuds all the way up to the flagship universal IEMs from Shure, Ultimate Ears and Westone (I personally own the UM3X).
I disagree most people will be able to tell the difference between normal earphones and premium earphones (there will be a few less privaledged, usually those who listen to apple earbuds with the volume at about a billion).

        • @trance
you are correct, beats by dr dre are the most expensive (and crappiest product) I have tried, I haven't got friends loaded enough to buy $300+ in-ears.

        • why anyone would want to buy 300 dollar IN-EARS is beyond me.

        • +1

          Actually it was $400….
But sometimes there are some things that are just damn worth it. If you enjoy something and can afford it, why not? Every little bit of pleasure you can get makes your life that much better.
It's like why do some people buy a $100k car, or a HSV or FPV. Why do people spend lots of money to skydive on a regualr basis. It's all about pleasure and how that splurge of cash can increase your lifestyle and happiness. (Yes money can't buy you happiness, but that refers to relationships and friends, as for goods that tickle your fancy, it will buy you happiness/bliss)
I suppose you're one of the people who appreciates music but don't know or haven't experienced the finer details in a song It's just bliss when you can listen to music and have every detail from vocals to instruments (and for live albums the crowd) move you with every note. But honestly if you have no need to go that far to get the details, then don't. It'll just drive you oon this massive craze to chase the ultimate sound and you'll end up spending relatively big for small increases as you reach the top.

    • +6

DO your research. The ones on e-bay are fake.
      MyMemory is Sennheiser dealer.

    • +1

The fact you say the ebay ones cost more still makes these a bargain… or am I missing something!?!

  • Thanks cwongtech. Quick question - can you adjust the cables at the join so the left and right are the same length or is fixed?

    • Yo stix, no you can't unfortunately, the length is fixed as seen with my photos.
Left cable from the cable splitter measure 17cm
Right cable from the cable splitter measures 51cm
      Hope that helps you.

      • +2

        Thanks mate

  • -1

Can anyone confirm that these easily stay in your ear, Ive had a set of in-ears before and they kept popping out.

    • Make sure you have the right sized silicon tips fitted in your ears.
They'll stay in your ears much longer than the Apple ones that just fall out.

  • +2

and by the way, Senn-sational deal!

  • +1

    Bought 3 pairs for 31.92 GBP = $50
    Thanks

  • I assume this must be older stock? As there is seems to be a CX300-II… whats the difference between this one and the newer one?

    • Take a look
I can't comment, I personally love my white cx300s (well.. “Sennheiser Eco Ear Canal Headphones”) for $20, I should be getting my third package of earphones that consist of two of these (I have one currently, sold one, given one to my sister).
CX300ii comes with a useless but cool pouch.

      • here is some info I found on the Sennheiser CX300-II

"Sennheiser CX300-II Precision In-Ear Sound Isoalating Headphones in Black. Second genearation earphones can only be better than the predecessor. And with the CX300-II Sennheiser has proven this once again. With improved dynamics and potent bass-driven stereo sound the new version of the successful CX300 will win the heart of your ears. "

I wonder if these 'improvements' are very noticeable… and if they are worth the $$$

  • Oh dear.
Massive impulse buy. Didn't read anything just went in and clicked.
    Let's hope there's no regret?

    • +1

Ah, just don't walk across the road with these in, you'll be in too much bliss to notice anything around you.

      • "shorter length cable for the left earphone and a much longer cable for the right earphone"

Nooooo, didn't realise :(. Are there non-asymmetrical ones? I hate having one earphone longer than the other.

        • you do realise that the longer cabled earpiece goes behind your neck right, I find it much more comfortable and handy when you only want one earpiece in (really handy when you want to have a convo with someone else and still listen to your music)

        • +1

Why? The longer right earpiece goes around the back of your neck. It saves a bit of time every morning, instead of checking the tiny L or R on the back of the earphones, you already know which is the Right or Left because of the length.

        • +6

Normal CX300s are non-asymmetrical, they have the pink ones at the same price if you want to look cool ;)
If anyone asks why you have pink ones.. just say breast cancer research =P

      • +1

No, you don't walk across a road with these in because you won't be able to hear the cars approaching you at high speeds :P
As for bliss, they are better than apple earbuds but short of anything spectacular, and heavily orientated towards the bass for the general population.
(sorry, but I just hate it when people flog stuff off to be better than they are, especially at computer fairs)

        • +1

As for bliss, they are better than apple earbuds but short of anything spectacular, and heavily orientated towards the bass for the general population.
          For $20 these are bliss.
I'm sorry I haven't justified the cost to get Shures or any higher-tiered premium earphones (that have dual or triple drivers).
I don't feel these are too extreme in bass, maybe the Apple Plebeian Fans can't be exposed to bass after being used to such crap apple earbuds?

        • For $20 bucks they are great no doubt. But bliss… I guess each to their own, just don't expect mind blowing sound (what am I saying… compared to apple earbuds these are mindblowing for those new to the sound game).
As for higher-tiered premium earphones, it's not only about sound quality but also build quality, Westone I know for a fact make one of the best cables out there with a very solid housing. It's these little things that break and after buying more to replace, it all adds up.

To clear up what I mean by "and heavily orientated towards the bass for the general population". I mean most consumers out that prefer bass, as in when they can hear and feel the bass they think it's good (all due to the bass heavy pop and rap orientated music most people listen to). So what I mean by that comment was, these CX300s are bass orientated to appeal to the general population. (Like UE/Logitech came out with the Super.Fi 5 EB)

  • Can someone tell me why the website isn't working? Is it my browser (Chrome)? I can't access it.

    • No it's down for me too (using FF)

and according to this it is down.
      http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/www.mymemory.co.uk

    • You broke it.
Nah I'm kidding, seems their site is down, mass Ozbargainers trying to purchase a lot from them?

      • Damn, I was so keen. I've had Sony MDR EX300's for over 2 years now and loved them, but one of the little plastic Sony pieces on the exterior fell off, and it really effects sound quality. I've got a pair of Sennheiser CXL400's, but the cable is so short it's pathetic. The extender I had broke as well. This deal came at the perfect time, I will definitely give it a positive rating when the site comes back up.
