HTC Desire HD for $0 on a Special $59 Promo Cap over 24-Month Contract

101

Hi all,

My very 1st post so try and be nice ;-)

I was so much waiting for this phone to be released to 3 and stumbled across a Google search which led me to this sweet promo deal.

I signed up yesterday and I am eagerly awaiting my phone tomorrow hopefully if all goes well with the P&H.

They are basically giving you the $69 cap for $59 (credit of $10 every month for 24 months)

Oh and they also give you a $50 creit if you purchase it online.

I think the deal is pretty sweet and worth sharing.

P.S: the OZB media server died on me while I was trying to upload the photo.

  • Not really a deal, since 3 and vodafone have it exclusively.

    • But three are 10$ cheaper than vodaphone..so yes .. yes it is a deal

      • please check the voda deal they r not $10 cheaper. bot have the same deal. but u can get other discounts with voda

        • what sort of "other discounts" you could get from Vodafone?

  • +2

Terrible deal, voda had it for $44 per month for 12 mths with nrma deal.

    • +1

What's nrma deal? sorry for being such a noob at this.
$44/month for 12 month sounds too good to be true!
How did you get a deal like this?

  • I got myself the $696 one. I think that was better. But none the less a decent deal

    • How did you get it for $696? Outright?

Everything is here, you may wanna try by phone as the online one may not work anymore since NRMA deal is over but some people still got the deal after it was finished.

Even if you don't get the deal, you get $50 off 888 unless the 3 months deal is another separate one

  • its on voda also on the $69 cap with $10 back every month = $59. so no diff to voda.
Plus there are better deals on the same phone. sory but not the best first post

  • Not a bad deal…I want a HTC DESIRE HD!!

  • -1

    $59 x 24 = $1,416.

not a bargain, when compared to other recent deals mentioned already in the comments section.

    • it looks like a giant rip off when you put it like that

    • The $59 is a capped plan. That covers your phone calls, etc. It makes no sense to multiply that by the contract length to determine a cost and apply that to a handset. Yes, that is the cost of the 24 month contract. You could buy the phone outright and not put a SIM card in… however you also couldn't make or receive any phone calls then… so I suspect you're going to want a phone plan, and sadly, they cost money.

      • TPG ———-$14.99 or LC $10.99
        24 month—-$359.74 XOR $263.76

        http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/33147

outright- ~$675 from clove including delivery
        $1034 TPG or $940 LC
        nuff said!

        • +1

$14.99 is not enough for a month's use…those TPG deals aren't that good cuz most people are on voda or three and three has free three to voda and three to three.

        • ok maybe you might need more but given access to wifi and skype/VOIP this shouldn't be a problem. If you use more than $450 worth of calls, then your company is probably paying for you.

Given the prices right now and the amount of crapware you get installed in each network branded phone, its much easier and economical for people who don't use their phones as phones but rather computers IMO.

The truth of the matter is it all depends on the basic needs of a person and how much they are willing to spend.

  • I want one…but im not sure i want to change providers. Theres hundreds of comments over in the Whirlpool forums about a degrading signal quality since the merge of Voda and 3 and talk that it will take up to 6mths to iron it all out. cries

    • Where do you live? I'm with Three and the coverage is pretty good. Of course if you want the best 3g coverage you should go with Telstra, but 2G is always on full signal wherever I go. At my house, I get about half strength 3G which isn't too bad.

  • Yeah, pretty meh.

  • its too expensive. i would get it on a $29 plan or MAYBE $39 plan.

the $44 deal was good though, because it was only a 12mth contract.

    • If you're out of contract, you can get it on the (new) $29 plan. I just logged into my3, chose the upgrade option but staying on my current plan, and it offered me this phone at $10 per month handset repayment plus $50 credit for upgrading online - giving a total of $190 for the phone.

    • You may have to wait some time.

    Minor note:

Crazy John's also have this for $59 with a $100 Visa card.
(Slightly better than the $84 kickback from 3/VF)

CJ are also VHA, and have free calls to and from 3/VF.

Is the 10% off VF NRMA deal still available? (The link doesn't show the Desire HD anymore.)

    • Troll, much?

      • +4

        dont feed the trolls?
aaahh now I dunnit too! Just neg and walk away!

  • +1

I'd rather be shot than go with a Three plan with a smartphone.

The whole point of smartphones is the data usage, well Three have this "great" scheme whereby if you are "roaming" onto Telstra's network (where Three doesn't have coverage) and you use data you get whacked with a hefty bill (ie it doesn't come out of your pre-paid data plan).

    Avoid…

  • Just read some reviews and the battery life seems quite bad and the screen is hard to read in daylight which are dealbreakers for me.

"We're sad to report that there were more things to dislike on the HTC Desire HD than we were expecting - and battery life was a big one…. A more pressing issue is the battery life - people might be coming round to the daily charging idea, but if you can't last a day in some instances that's going to get tiresome very quickly."
