        Where would it get fixed? Would you need to send it back to the US?

        Edit: just googled it and there is no international warranty. You would have to post this back to the US to get free repairs on the warranty. Too risky for me give how fragile these things are.

          A couple of spare batteries are a must. Maybe also a charger capable of charging multiple batteries.
          Keep in mind, DJI's multi battery charger charges the batteries one at a time.
          There are third party chargers which will charge in parallel.
          I wouldn't recommend the fly more bundle, unless you can get it for the price of the two batteries it comes with.
          The bag, whilst well made, is pretty pointless. It doesn't provide much protection and doesn't really fit anything more than the drone and remote control.

      The fly more package includes a charger that accepts 4 batteries and auto charges them until full one at a time. It also includes 2 batteries and a nice carry bag which you really need.

    I would be onto this but with the new drone law amendments they quietly introduced, everything I have done since I got my Phantom 3 Advanced a few months ago, would be considered illegal: https://www.casa.gov.au/media-release/stronger-drone-safety-….

    Any tiny helicopter landing pad now has a 5.5km exclusion zone, so this is practically all of Melbourne. I even flew in Kyneton a few weeks ago, country town that has a helipad and that would now be banned too. Ridiculous.

    The best deal is the fly more package which includes 3 batteries and is for a new unit. One battery is not enough so the actual comparison should be between one of these plus 2x batteries and then compare that against the best fly more package. The fly more package also includes a handy and good carry bag.

      Fly more is not being sold at a reduced price. Better off buying batteries from China and get the blue yxc06 charger from China for $50 which does simultaneous charging. Included spare props are pointless as everyone will opt for the low noise props.

          @ninetyNineCents: not really. the mavic is so small you just toss it in any old cloth bag (or tea towel) and stash it inside whatever day-pack you're taking for food/water etc. the official carry case is only useful if you're throwing it into the back of the car and not taking another bag. Phantoms on the other hand DEFINITELY need their own dedicated and decent backpack lol.

          I fail to see how you can say its going to break when its packed inside the carry bag.

          I bought a vanguard alta sling for my mavic, after spending all that money on the mavic, whats a few more $$$ on a nice proper carry bag.

          @dandandan: yep saw that one, mine came with ground pin on so no risk there. If you're in no rush, by all means get the hub. I have one, I just don't use it anymore. Sometimes if I want to do more then 3 batteries, then I use the hub.

          @dandandan: Not an issue mate, merely sharing my experiences. I had mine since around May and havent looked back on the DJI charger. Problem with these quads is they're just so damn addictive and those batteries just dont last that long, 15-20mins on average so having to wait over an hour for each battery to put the bird back in the air kinda sucks, hence why the parallel charger is so popular. 3 batteries charged and ready to rock in 1-1.5 hour is a godsend.

          For all the horror stories you'll find plenty of success stories, the YXC chargers are nothing new and have been used on the P3 series with success for quite some time now. All the safety smarts of battery charging are actually in the battery itself, which pretty much relegates the charger you buy to nothing more then a 13.5V power supply with the mavic specific connector, thats why they're so cheap and batteries are so expensive, its nothing more then a power supply. The battery will draw as much current as required and will cut off drawing when its done, not the charger.

          DJI included a parallel charger with the spark and I havent bothered with aftermarket chargers for that reason since it does the job.

      Melbourne CBD is outlawed due to CASA regs. There are plenty of less densely populated parts though, and yeah people go there to fly.

      If it's something you'd like, these are excellent quality aerial photography rigs - you can't build one anywhere near this price especially for the safety features they have.

        just add it to your contents insurance. cheaper and better cover anyway. NRMA definitely covers drones (has to be listed as portable sporting equipment). Others like Suncorp and Budgetdirect probably cover as well.

          @t3chshopper: cc insurance is junk isually. They claim the market value is way lower than actual, and only end up paying about 30-50% of replacement cost. Good insurers do new-for-old, not minimum arguable market value.

      correct. no gst paid = no gst refund. they couldn't process it for you even if they wanted to help you do a dodgy claim haha. they have to scan the australian tax invoice with gst, seller's ABN and other info listed in order to process any TRS claim.

          They not only check the invoice, they scan a copy and provide it to the ATO so all the refunds add up to the GST charged by retailers. If you attempt to claim this, best case they will tell you get lost, worst case they may report you for attempted tax fraud and you get added to the ATO blacklist - the people whose tax returns they go through meticulously every year.

    I need to build a good business case so the wife will approve the spend…any ideas? All I have is I can use it to check the condition of the roof for cracked tiles, blocked down pipes etc…but I think she will say my $40 ladder can do that too…any ideas?
