  • Are these the same as the Freedom F5 - was going to pick up a pair from BestBuy in the US as they had them on an early black friday sale for $49 US down from $149

    • +1

From what I can find, the Freedom F5 are the original freedoms not the Freedom 2. The main differences between them are (from what I’ve researched):

      • The tips and fins are now one piece.
      • The fins are softer and apparently much nore comfortable.
      • Freedom 2 has a “speed-fit”. The F5s are finicky and take more time when trying to use the cable tightening clips.
      • Freedom 2 doesn’t come with comply foam tips.
      • They now have a “find my bud” feature in the app. Not sure if the original freedoms have this feature.

You can take a look at a comparison on youtube by Rizknows.com: https://youtu.be/ws_aqOA27-U. If delivery isn’t too much seems like a nice price on the F5s. But personally, I spent a little more for piece of mind and bought from my local JB HI-FI store + $20 extended 2 year replacement warranty. That way I can just bring it back and grab a new pair if something goes wrong with them (which seems to be quite an issue with in-ear headphones, especially with wireless ones).
