How have you found the experience so far? As a seasoned user, has it been alright?
Honestly, it has been the best experience I've had in gaming. I did reluctantly sell my PSVR a couple of months ago though after getting it at launch but as soon as we get a wireless headset option I'll be straight back in.
It's a great piece of kit for mine. Only issue is trying to find the time to set it all up and use it.

It allows HDR to pass through without disconnecting the processing box and reconnecting the HDMI cable to the PS4 (Pain in the A$$)
The earphones are also now attached to the headset so there are less wires dangling around.

It's not officially called V2 since it's only minor changes. Certainly not changes worth missing out on this deal for.
does it need controllers to play games ? I dont think controllers are included .
It's assumed you already have controllers with your PS4.
and just in case, you need a PS4 to use this product, this will not work on it's own.
MOVE controllers aren't required but provide better experience than using a DualShock.

Was just drooling this morning after watching a video on GT Sport with VR. I have the G29 wheel, but I thought price wise VR ain't worth it. Then this. YAS!!
Just remember, it's "VR Mode" in GT Sport. You can't play most of the game in VR, it was a bit of a bait and switch by Sony, no campaign OR online racing in VR, only Arcade races.
good deal, but i think the v1 PSVR will get even cheaper to make way for the improved version2 PSVR.
It's not version 2, more like version 1.1 since the changes are very minor. The cabling has changed to allow pass through hdr, the earphone placement means slightly less cable and the headset itself is a little slimmer.
true but either way, if i was serious about getting this id always prefer the latest version that fixes some of the niggly annoying oversights of the original, or getting it at firesale prices. not having HDR support in the breakout box is pretty annoying, but won't effect everyone.

I'm mainly on Xbox One so only picked up the standard PS4 (not the Pro) to play Uncharted and a few other games. Does VR go okay on the non-Pro version, or not worth the time?

Most VR games make use of the Pro for stuff like better geometry, less aliasing, better textures or frame rates.

My wife still thinks I'm using a PS3! Never noticed the upgrades from PS3 -> PS4 -> PS4 Pro.
She did notice the light bar on the controller when I was playing Arkham Knight… but "it's always been there, I just hadn't turned it on"

I bought the PS4 Pro last week and switched it over after everyone went to bed… was tempted to get the white version and pretend it was the old Wii that has been sitting in a box for 5 years!

What a bargain! I wasn't particularly looking at getting into VR, but I also love Skyrim and Gran Turismo. I guess I can sell it off if I don't use it. Too good of an deal to pass up.
I assume the games (e.g. Skyrim) can also be played without the headset if desired?
According to the titles, only the Gran Turismo can be played without the VR headset
Also worth noting that it limits the game in VR. Offline and 1v1 races only I believe.
Skyrim would be a good one for Nintendo Switch though wouldn't it - given the commitment of hours for that one could be a handy title to take on-the-go.
If I didn't already own a Oculus Rift I'd get this… such a good deal.
Now all we need is a Nintendo Switch deal to be posted in the $350 region and to be bundled with a game. I know they are watching and listening.. MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Works on both. Let him decide that bit in case he wants the extra performance.
Unless you have a 4K tv it isn't really worth considering the Pro if he's used to playing on the PS3
I've got a Pro for a 1080P TV. It still gives me better graphics (4K downscaling) plus better performance. Also Pros have optical output, regular ones don't. So even older setups benefit from it.
So did the original PS4 (re: optical out), they just removed it on the slim to "create" a point of difference.
The main point is that the pro isn't an essential must have over the normal ps4

Well for me it was "essential" because I needed optical and none of the new consoles had it. Otherwise I'd have stuck with a regular one.

No go at jb for the price match guy said the reason was skyrim isn't out until tomorrow. The guy also said that they will have a similar deal Friday week for black friday.
