AMD Ryzen 7 1800X $449, 1700X $389 at PCCaseGear

Seems like PCCG is fighting back at Mwave with their own Black Friday deals!

PCCG have always been great to deal with :)

It has nothing to do with "fighting back"
AMD have reduced the price across the board, even if it is for a short while. This is the new RRP

    • Might be the rumored Ryzen+ release in Feb.

PCCG is trash. Absurd postage costs, I avoid them like the plague.

    • +6

I've been shopping with them for over a decade and done a couple of warranty returns, never had a problem. Although haven't gotten anything from them in a few years, anything besides the postage costs wrong with them?

      • No, just postage really. It pisses me off that they charge $15 for something that can be sent for $2 or $7 if they want to go heavy on the packaging.

        • +1

I don't know about you, but I would definitely want to pay extra postage for an item that is hundreds of dollars in value to ensure it's sent safely.

        • -1

          @Lorindor:

PLE has reasonable postage costs and free to certain areas if you spend over $x and they pack their items really well. I don't see your point? If you want to pay $15 postage for a $15 item, then be my guest.

        • @nurries:

So you called a company trash and told everyone to avoid them like the plague just because they charge flat-rate postage?

        • @Lorindor:

Flat rate postage would be getting charged $15 even if they were sending a computer case. Their postage rates are more along the lines of "flat-rate scam". It's just another way for them to increase their profits from unsuspecting customers who think they're getting top of the line p&h.

        • @nurries:

I understand what flat-rate postage is, but thanks for the description.

That actually makes sense, because a computer case is bigger, heavier and would require a different postage and handling method.

        • @Lorindor:

"Flat rate shipping is a standard rate charged to transport packages, regardless of weight or size." So no, you don't understand what flat-rate postage is otherwise you wouldn't be saying they charge flat-rate postage in one comment and then justify them charging more for an item in your next comment.

The fact is, they rip off customers when it comes to postage. They charge "flat-rate" for items they know they'll make a profit on from the postage cost by doing so and then they'll charge a volume rate for larger items where they know "flat-rate" would cut into their profits a bit. You simply can't argue against it.

I never said they charge flat rate shipping, I was asking you whether that's what you were upset about.

The fact is, they rip off customers when it comes to postage

Oh please, no one is forced to number 1) shop there, or two) have their item/s posted as opposed to picking it up.

And I can argue against it, because you're having a whinge on the internet about a company you clearly dislike, purely because you don't like their shipping costs.

Nanny state? More like nanny country.

        • @Lorindor:

          Yes, you did.
"So you called a company trash and told everyone to avoid them like the plague just because they charge flat-rate postage?"

Look, I'm not going to sit here and argue with your obviously flawed logic. If you want to pay more for something that I can get from PLE with the same (if not better) standard of service, then go for it. No one is stopping you!

        • @nurries:

"So you called a company trash and told everyone to avoid them like the plague just because they charge flat-rate postage?"

I didn't know, I just assumed they did from your complaint.

Yes, everyone else on the internet that disagrees with you has flawed logic, keep telling yourself that sunshine.

If you want to pay more for something that I can get from PLE with the same (if not better) standard of service, then go for it.

I would actually do neither, because I'm a grown adult that can make educated decisions, so I can shop around and not make it out like some company is run by Satan because they don't cater to my every need.

        • I haven't had anything posted from them in years, cause I live in Melbourne but from memory they use a courier and not auspost. So that may be why there's a minimum cost?

    • Abit harsh, the postage is high but that's because it includes staff time and packing materials ect. They pack the shipments ive received very well, when I was returning my PSU they payed return postage costs.

Sure I don't buy PC cases off them but if their only son is higher postage I'm fine with this because the service is good and I know it won't be damaged when I get it.

1800x for $426.55 Delivered Here with P5OZZIE. More than 10 available.

    1700x for $384 after coupon.

Wait for bigger eBay discount I reckon as this is the new RRP from the looks of it.

    • +1

With the release of a handful of new coffee lake chips I imagine it definitely is. The price AMD has picked here for the 1700X is exactly the same retail price of the 8600K, $389, and the 1800X is the same price as the i7-7740X that came out a few months ago. Since Intel have nothing from Coffee Lake in that price range, AMD has taken on some pretty good spots.

AMD is still really strong on pricing here (especially considering their motherboards are still cheaper than Coffee Lake and have an upgrade path), which is great to see. But if the price goes back up I'll be looking at an 8600K for my end of year build.

  • +1

This is the new normal price. Buying from eBay with P5OZZIE code is cheaper.

  • I've got news for you. It's got nothing to do with Black Friday. $449 is the new standard price across the board in Australia for the Ryzen 1800X. There was a price drop today by AMD on these Ryzen CPUs.

No deal really now. Just the new normal price. $449 is the new RRP. So you're claiming by posting this deal thread that an RRP is a bargain!.

Ryzen 1800X is now $449 at MSY, PCCG, Scorptec, PLE, Mwave and all the other PC stores will follow suit at that price. Come tomorrow you will find heaps of stores with this priced at $449 and will remain so.

    • +2

      Proof?

      • Well here they have it at MSY for $449 and they don't a sale on at all. And no they haven't matched any other stores price they have only set it according to the newly released RRP.

        http://www.msy.com.au/qld/brendale/pc-components/18434-amd-y…

These other PC stores claiming it's on "special" down from $635 or $629 etc are just making that up to try and get sales. I've seen that usual sales tactic before on CPUs that had a sudden global price drop. It the $449 is the new normal RRP price.

And here is an article dated from today speaking about the AMD Ryzen price drop in Europe but it's also a global price drop. The price drop happened here in Australia too. $449 is the new standard price in Australia for the Ryzen 1800X. These PC shops are just setting the price according to the new RRP.

        http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/amd-ryzen-and-threadripper-…

You people thinking oh it's suddenly $449 and oh look it says it's on special down from $629. Thinking it's a huge Black Friday bargain are just getting taken for a ride by sales marketing. It's the new RRP.

        • -1

…according to the newly released RRP.

This is pure assumption, provide a source otherwise it's part of the Black Friday sale as far as I'm concerned.

        • @Lorindor:

ok then. You will find out in a week or so when the price remains the same.

But tell me. Where does PC Case Gear or Mwave mention a Black Friday sale currently going by them?. It would be splashed on their front page on the store but there is nothing. And none of the other stores selling it for $449 even mention a thing about Black Friday. The answer is there is no Black Friday sale currently being run by them. By the way it's not even Black Friday yet.

        • @hollykryten:

MSY is already out of stock and PLE are not far behind, seems like a sale to me and not just a price drop.

AMD BLACK FRIDAY SALE!! - Save $180 - Promotion ends 1st Dec 2017 or while stock lasts*

          That's taken from Mwave's listing.

        • @Lorindor:

Nah just an around the board price drop by AMD. Believe me these prices will remain the same after the Black Friday period is over. It's all just BS marketing (huge sale, save $180) to gain sales when it's really the new RRP and that $180 saving was from the previous old RRP. I've seen this same sales tactic before when there was a previous drop in the RRP on CPUs, the stores claimed a huge saving of a few hundred dollars off when it was really the new RRP and that price remained that way. I've seen it all before!.

How do you explain all these stores setting the price exactly at $449, wouldn't they have their own Black Friday sale price like $445 or maybe $440 etc.

And if you believe that sales marketing by Mwave then you will believe any thing. It's just AMD dropping the RRP at a time to coincide with the Black Friday sales period and the stores are setting it at that price. You fell for it didn't you.
