Not a bundle aimed at children then. Nothing wrong with that at all.

Something I might buy for myself, though.

        • +1

you'd think their marketing department might have considered that and given an option for younger players.

          Don't make me laugh, jv.

At the end of the day, it's all about the $.

        • +1

I'm sure there'll be something for them at some stage, but there's little point grousing that one individual deal isn't targeted towards little kids. There have been plenty of Minecraft deals, and I'd be surprised if there wasn't another one from one or more of the major retailers.

The average age of a gamer these days is MUCH older than, say 14-and-under…

        • +1

@Scipio:But then again, if the Parents don't agree with their younger ones playing these sorts of Content; It's up to the Parents to act on it, right?

        • +1

@Lil B: In this case it's about 3 new release titles as pack-ins.

        • +3

@Lil B: There are ratings on games, so yeah - parents need to shoulder the responsibility for what they allow their kids to watch/play/etc.

Last time I was in an EB, a 10-or-so-year old was clutching GTA5 wanting mum to buy it for him. She hadn't seen it yet by the time I left, but I'm sure the sales guy would have pointed it out to her if it got that far.

My point to JV is that complaining that a single bundle isn't aimed at the littlies isn't a valid reason to complain any more than a FIFA/Forza Bundle that I'm personally not interested in is a valid reason to complain. Black Friday is in less than 48 hours, and I'd suggest that it's very likely that at least one good value, kid-oriented deal will appear by then. Very possibly even direct from MS.

        • +1

You realise people other than kids celebrate Xmas too right?

        • +2

@0blivion: Lots of adults with cash to spend on toys for themselves on black friday.

        • video games aren't just for children…

        • What else could they advertise? Minecraft and Plants Vs Zombies? Two smartphone apps?

        • @Lil B:

At the end of the day, it's all about the $.

          exactly.

Without extra options, they're going to miss out on sales.

        • @KLoNe:

What else could they advertise? Minecraft and Plants Vs Zombies?

They'd be two titles my kids would want… and maybe COD.

        • +1

          @0blivion:

You realise people other than kids celebrate Xmas too right?

Yep, and they haven't really catered for a large sector of their customers. Why not offer a choice of games?

        • @jv:

they're going to miss out on sales

You think that they would miss out on sales?

You're going through a Mid life crisis 100%..

        • @Lil B:

You think that they would miss out on sales?

By not offering other options yes. I'm looking at getting a new console for Xmas but wont be getting this… So that's one sale lost for starters.

        • @jv:

If you think EB Games will loose money on sales, you're wrong.

If they do (which they won't) they'll either write it off OR put prices up somewhere to compensate for the loss.

For an example: People who steal items from Woolworths, Coles etc — What you don't realize is at the end of the day they put up prices just a little bit and they make their money back.

          @Lil B:

If you think EB Games will loose money on sales, you're wrong.

          No, I'm right.

        • +1

          @jv:

Typical jv, right? Doesn't give any explanation on anything he says.

Care to elaborate how you're 'right'?

        • +1

          @Lil B:

Doesn't give any explanation on anything he says.

          Neither did you.

I know I'm right, and that's all that matters.

        • @jv:

          I actually did, jv.

          Look here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/5320208/redir

How can you be 'right' without any facts/information/explanation on your statement?

          jv..

        • @jv:

It just shows that your eye-sight is not the best. I know old age can be frightening jv, we are here for you!

From the age of 65, you are more likely to develop problems with your eyes. That’s why many people in this age group choose to have yearly eye tests

          Book an appointment here

        • @jv: mate, this deal is not targeted towards kids. Just deal with it.

        • -1

          @veritas_mendax:

I see you agree with me then.

        • @jv: nah I don’t.

        • @jv: So terrible that a single bundle on early sale isn't aimed at your children. Are you aware of just how entitled you sound here?

Your individual sale matters as much as my individual sale does: Not At All. And I probably buy more in a month than you do all year.

        • -1

          @Scipio:

So terrible that a single bundle on early sale isn't aimed at your children.

          why is it terrible?

        • +1

@jv: It's sarcasm, obviously. Anyway, you might be much more interested in this deal with kid-appropriate games:
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/343912

        • @jv:

jv, are you still here ???

Still waiting on you to elaborate !!!

    • sell those games or trade them in for suitable games

      • just dont trade them in at EB as you'll probably only be offered $5 for them.

    • +2

You musta missed the million mincraft bundles.

      • I must have.

  • Wonder what game deals they will have

  • +5

the amount of effort you put in is disappointing tbh. Look at this one
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/343782

    • Will do better mate.

      • -3

Worse yet, your post killed his off =/.

        • +3

Well his post kinda lives on now ;)

        • +1

@kongcrete: Haha yay! I just actually posted another comment (before I refreshed the page) pasting the text of the other deal. You have a knack for beating people…

      • Edit (I posted the text of the other deal): very ironically also beaten.

        • +2

Got silverrat's blessing and have included his work in the above. However, i wont be updating for future deals from EB

    • +6

I think jv is going through a mid life crisis…

Maybe he is going grey, bald?

      • +9

Bloody hell, how childish is that? Maybe that explains why he's so keen on a children's xbox bundle…

        • +2

JV's Wife: Honey, I ordered take out for dinner tonight.
          JV: Any bargains ?

        • +2

          @Dagmar:
No Happy Meal bargains? We're not eating tonight in that case.

        • @Lil B: No thanks!

        • @Dagmar:

          JV is a female I think…

        • +1

          @Dagmar:

JV's Wife: Yes Honey! The free napkins and salt packets.
          JV: Bargain !!!

        • @Lil B:

          JV's Wife: I ordered take-out.
          JV: Don't you mean dine-in ?

      • jv's mum sent her to her room

    • Ha I got 5 upvotes!

And jesus wth is happening with JV?!

      • Christmas shopping for the family is making him crazy again.

      • When isn't she being a pain? 1 downvote should equal 1hr ban for JV - surely the technology is there to continually sin bin her.

  • Kinda makes the $269 plus Assassins Creed or Forza Horizon 3 deal at Big W seem poor value. Unless you only really want Forza Horizon 3.

    • +1

Unless you only really want Forza Horizon 3.

Well, it is a very good game - brimming with things to do, cars to collect and ramps to jump. One could even argue it has more hours than those three combined.

      :P

    • -1

I reckon that Forza Horizon 3 is dying, very fast.

There is not much players active on Multiplayer compared to earlier this year.

It's still a fantastic game though, very enjoyable even if you're playing single player only. I recommend it any-day!

    • +1

Depends on what kinda games you play - if you don't like shooters, well the value proposition of 2/3 these games goes down immediately.

      • +1

Wolf is the only shooter of the three. AC is a 3rd person open world platforming action-adventure thing, while TEW is survival horror. Just depends on which genres you like, and of course Friday's bundles.

        • Oh, is TEW not a horror-shooter? Must be getting that mixed up with something else.

        • +1

@0blivion: There's probably some shooting in it (?) but it's classified as survival horror in the tradition of the old RE games. Certainly not what I'd call a Wolf/CoD/BF/Doom/etc-style "shooter" though.

        • @Scipio: Noted, though how 'old' RE are we talking?

The old RE games were (stationery camera) third-person shooters………. where you couldn't move and shoot at the same time. (I feel like I'm giving away how old I am here…)

        • +1

          @0blivion:
Similar to resident evil 4, kind of

        • @catbarf: Same creator. Kenji Mishmana-somethingorother.

It's a "Survival Horror" game. 3rd person shooting and (maybe some) melee combat. Typically a "shooter" is in the first person, ala Doom and 99% gunplay.

      • There's also Target's $269 deal that comes with the Minecraft games and 3 months of Gold instead. Harvey Norman has $279 with Minecraft/AC and BF2. How am I meant to decide between all these. Or should I wait for something even better closer to xmas. I'm definitely returning the $329 AC/BF2 big w deal I ordered.

        • See what happens on/by Friday and decide then. Amazon launches then, Microsoft is sitting on their deals until Friday.

    • Forza Horizon 3 is worth it purely for the Hot Wheels DLC. I had an absolute blast driving in that DLC.

  • +4

Wow, sell the games and you got yourself a brand new xbox for around 150 squids.

  • Does anyone know if these are actual discs, or just download codes? Discs would be good for selling on unneeded games; not many ppl would trust buying a code from gumtree hehe

    • +2

      Just got an email and it looks like EB Games will be joining the Black Friday shenanigans. The only thing we know so far is this console deal;

      Xbox One S 500GB console
      Assassin's Creed Origins
      Wolfenstein II
      The Evil Within 2
Referring to past deals, Assassin's Creed Origins would be a download code, while the rest are disc-based and the console would be white and cannot be changed (as it's default).

EB Games' Black Friday sale starts Friday 24/11 12:01 AEDT and finishes on Monday 27/11.
Watch this space as I'll (hopefully) update this post with noteworthy deals.

That was the other deal posted 3 mins too late. Relevant part bolded.

      • +1

        hey thanks for the reply.
i suppose i'll pop in tomorrow and have a look. mainly wanted to know in order to sell on the games and use it for a 'cheap' HDR netflix/4k bluray player :)

      • +1

        Just saw the email too.

Great stuff. Will see what kind of sale they will be having this friday.

I hope its 50% new games and buy 1 get 1 free preowned games.

I got my eyes set on this one hehe

        Hi there,
I just picked up this package from my local EB Games store at Miranda this morning. Can confirm all three main games came as disc. No download for Assassin's Creed Origins. I get the feeling they have a certain amount of stock before they switch over to download codes.

  • +7

    Came in my inbox

    That's what she said…

  • +3

Very interesting to see what prices Amazon will come out with tomorrow/Friday

  • +3

I hate this drip feeding eb games does. All I want to know if there are going to be any switch deals or I'll buy elsewhere and this waiting game is silly. At least target and bigw don't mess around and give us plenty of notice of their items and prices

    • Agreed somewhat, though the bog box places aren't as agile on this stuff as places like EB and JB can be when they need to respond. I'm after a PS Pro and/or a XBX really, so I'm just waiting for Friday.

      • +3

I can’t go into details, but there’s definetely a PS4 pro bundle and an Xbox one x bundle :)

        • +1

Not going into the details but when is the deal?

        • Black Friday sale (Friday to Monday)

        • Awesome. Hopefully its a better deal than the last gta and turisomo one!

        • @FFalex: Any 2DS XL in there?

        • +1

          Any switch love?

        • Anything Switch 🤞

  • +2

    Came in my inbox.

    Gross.

  • +1

is xbox x a better 4k player vs one s?

    • -6

      Both are equally as bad.

      • +3

        What makes you say that?

    • Xbox One X supports native 4K games and the Xbox One S upscales games to 4K.

On the 4K BluRay front, I'm pretty sure they are identical but may be wrong.

But the One X is definitely better for 4K gaming.

      • Well, I don't have a native 4k projector, just the Epson 9300 which upscale to 4k. Guess Xbox one S is enough for me would you say in term of 4k player functionality?

      • The xbox one s does not play games at 4K AT ALL!

      • -3

First time getting negged. Feels bad man.

      • +1

        Review of the One S:
        http://www.techradar.com/reviews/gaming/games-consoles/xbox-…

"games look better in 4K resolution – even if it's achieved by upconversion"
"The biggest upgrade is a graphical one – 4K resolution"

Can someone explain to me why I got negged for future reference?
        Where did I mess up?

        • +2

          Have a +1 from me :)

        • @WishIHadAfridge: Cheers. Still would like to know what I did wrong though.

        • +1

          @scanzy:
Its the internet. There doesnt have to be a reason.
It happens and can be a little confusing but you just ignore it if they dont want to challenge the point your making.
