Wow you're a champion. Being Aus stock it would have B28 I'm guessing?

  • +1

    You legend!
    What about the Roselands store?

    • +1

Called them earlier, no stock of either. Sorry mate.

  • I was ripped. Paid $360 for mine over the weekend. It's a very nice phone for the price.
Especially not many local phones take dual Sims

  • +1

    Excellent Work

  • +7

    +1 for the leg work.

  • +2

Does this have a notification led?

    • +2

Sure does, top left of screen.

  • No Western Australia?

    • +4

Didn't have the time mate. Above is only stores I have called. You are more then welcome to call a store in WA as they may have stock. I have included the SKU numbers for each colour in the listing for ease when enquiring.

      • So I called my local one. There is stocks still available in my state and they are happy to do a store transfer.

        • Great news!

      • +10

You called all of those stores yourself to check stock? Holy moly, upvote for that alone (but also the deal).

        • +17

Correct. I Wanted to make sure I located at least 50 units before posting.

        • +2

@Garzo: Not in the market for this but fully deserving of a plus and a comment. Thanks for all the work.

        • +1

          @havebeerbelywillsumo: Cheers bud :)

  • +1

Dolby atmos in a phone? Lmao what a joke

    • +1

      It actually sounds pretty good

      Source: I own one.

      • Sounds pretty good does not mean it is Atmos though

        • It is definitely Dolby Atmos.

  • Great phone except the camera is not quite up to flagship standard. It is not terrible, just not that great either, particularly for night shots or scenes with high contrast where it loses detail in the light or dark areas, depending on the scene. If you are not super fussy about photo quality, this phone pretty much keeps up with most current flagships for performance and features for less than half the price. Only the LG V20 comes close for bang for buck, but that won't have local warranty.

    • I agree. At night it lets more light in

    • Thanks, I was wondering about the camera.

You mention LG V20 - is its camera better?

    • LG V20 is available at few local stores with Aus warranty. Though a bit expensive. Looks much better compared to this though.

  • +1

Wow, you're a legend! Was going to purchase this phone, but now I think I'm going to go with the Nokia 8… But this price is tempting…

  • Off topic - how did you scan that receipt?

    • +4

JB actually ask if you would like a digital copy of your receipt. You just have to provide your mobile number and they send a unique link to download a PDF version.

      • What a great idea!

  • Any at Oxley QLD?

  • +5

    Edit as above in post:
The table is only the stores I have called. Stores not listed in the table may(or may not) have stock. I have included the SKU numbers of both colours in the listing to make it easier when calling and enquiring.

    • +1

Apologies Garzo, I missed that you actually called the stores, thought you have access to inventory.

Massive effort thanks mate!! Upvoted for effort

      • No need to apologies :) No access unfortunately haha, calling helped confirm there was physical stock.

  • +1

Upvote for all the work done by OP.
A very nice phone for the price.

  • +2

Really nice phone! If you're after rooting/custom ROMs I'd say to go with Linage OS 14.1. Tad buggy, but overall good for a custom ROM.

  • -1

For 2 years' old phone with 820, that price is still expensive, maybe could get htc u ultra in similar price in next month, as I know, this model is also in cleanance. Also ZTE's system is terrible, even in China, the reputation is not good.

    • What makes the HTC ultra better?

      • -3

better screen, better quality, newer model with 821 cpu, planned upgrade to Android 8.0 (Oreo), ongoing system support.

        • +1

Seriously? You think LCD is better then AMOLED? HTC has no headphone jack, single speaker while Axon has dual speaker and headphone jack.

        • +1

          @dosada:
I've had both phones and AMOLED in Axon 7 is superior hands down. Also ZTE phone is quite nice to hold while HTC U Ultra is very bulky. Having said that I didn't notice anything extraordinary about ZTE sound capabilities. May be bit better than HTC but not much. Build quality I'd give similar marks for both. Software wise however HTC wins, better support and more reliable.

        • +1

@dosada: as I know, samsung keep the best grade AMOLED for itself and apple, supply grade B screen to other manufacturers like xiaomi & huawei, many models e.g. xiaomi note 2 who used samsung amoled receives many complaints, their screen also come from samsung but worse than samsung s series or IPS.

        • @zhaoweizhi: I agree with the fact there are B grade AMOLED screens (ZTE screen for an instance didn't look as vivid as the one on Galaxy Note 5 despite having same resolution and bit higher pixel density. However the worst AMOLED would still be miles better than best IPS. Deep blacks guys that's the crucial aspect. The worst AMOLED will still have deeper black levels than the best IPS around and will therefore have the better contrast. So no argument there, if someone still argues IPS looks better, good on them. I can't cheat my eye like that. Lol

Got a link to any other Band 28 snapdragon 820 handset at $360 to back up this statement?
      Nah?
      Didn't think so.

      • If anybody can afford a small screen , optus apple se 32gb unlocked comes with A9 CPU is much more fast than ZTE Axon 7, currently $379 in Big W after using WWS gift card.Axon 7 is a bargain for hardware, but I doubts ZTE would offer ongoing software support, ZTE never offer frequently security updates like other major manufacturers. For android phone, systems is more important than hardware. Without ongoing manufacturers' optimisation, the phone would be slow and face bugs after few months.

        • +1

          @zhaoweizhi: Nice sidestep.
Custom ROMs give this device plenty of life and support into the future, well past the point that Apple will drop support for even the iPhone X if history is anything to go by.

        • A9 is faster CPU but 820 has better GPU and they're on par in Antutu.

        • @Droidyy:
Great, but it's irrelevant the the statement zhaoweizhi made.
He/She is just trying to change the subject.
Even if it were relevant, show me an Android or any other non-iOS phone that runs on the A9 SoC, it doesn't even need to have a 5.5" screen. I and most Android users are not interested in locking ourselves into the iOS ecosystem.
Raising the point about the A9 is as useful as me posting that I could buy 8 Redmi Note 4x phones for the same price in an iPhone deal post. It may be factual, but nobody cares.

      HTC U Ultra 64GB NOW $399, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/344335

I found it easy to unlock the bootloader with the toolkit on XDA

Also of note we get free 2 years INSURANCE (not to be confused with warranty)

    Source http://www.ztemobiles.com.au/presale_AXON_7.htm

    • Can't exactly find that part. Your link mentions presale

      • Check the accessories tab

  • Mate had one, reception and data tests were horrific compared to my lg g4

    • I'm with Telstra I always have full five bars wherever I go to in the urban area.

  • Daydream supported. Just in time for Rez Infinite :)

  • I'm not sure if it's been asked here (haven't read every post), but will Officeworks be able to beat this price?

    • Not sure mate, you could always try and show them my receipt attached to the deal.

    • I don't think they would since it's not advertised price. The advertised price is $399. You can always try it.

  • +1

+ed for the effort. Well done!

    • -1

      Reported, invalid upvote.

  • +1

Leg-end for calling up all those stores!

  • Got the phone for this price about 2 weeks ago. Great upgrade from my Galaxy S5. Camera is a bit lacking, but I doubt you can get better in this price range (without sacrificing other features).

  • Burleigh Heads didn't want to budge on the price. Lowest I could get was $380.

Pacific Fair claim to only have stock of the mini.

    Robina aren't answering the phone.

Looks like I'm stuck with a laggy Nexus 5X for the time being. .

    • Did you show them the copy of the receipt? Thanks I will update table.

  • FYI, Parramatta Westfield did not have any stock when I went there tonight

    • +1

      Cheers will update.

  • +1

    $355 at Officeworks now?

    • Good find FOX, looks like they may have got wind of JB's clearance price.

You Should post the Officeworks deal with some store locations :)

    • Thanks for the tip! I managed to get one (Quartz Grey) from Officeworks Dee Why. I managed to get one from JB Hi-fi Warringah Mall for $358 last night, but it's the Ion Gold. I think I'll return that one and keep the grey. I also called JB Hi-Fi Belrose last night and the guy that I spoke to said that they have 2 of the Gold left.

  • Can someone please comment on what the stock ROM is like? Most seem to recommend a custom ROM. Is stock ROM that bad?

    • +1

I'm still running stock. Just have Nova as my launcher. This Australian Verison of the phone doesn't have the stock theme.

Nova launcher gives a nice stock feel. There is also the Google now launcher. Both available on the play store.

      Also using the 'Gboard' keyboard.

  • I ordered from Gearbest, it's been 1 month and still waiting for the delivery…

    • they told me that all orders will be cancelled as no stock is arriving anymore

    • There is a option to cancel your order under the 'my orders' tab on Gearbest. That's what I did, got the refund within 30mins then went and purchased this.

  • Can anyone confirm if you can buy JB Hifi Gift Cards with the Amex paypal deal? (Even though amex site says no gift cards)?
Bringing the cost down to $277 + $43 left over on 1 gift card

  • Can someone who's bought one recently, please confirm if your phone came with a screen protector and case? Thanks

    • Case - Yes, transparent silicone.
      Screen protector - negative

      • +1

        Thanks Garzo

  • How does this compare to my Sony Z3? worth the Upgrade>

I was waiting for the HTC u11 to drop or the LG v30/G6

    • Here's a comparison of both this and your phone.

    • +1

I upgraded from Z3+. Fingerprint reader, better screen, better scratch resistance.

  • Does anyone know if the Australian version supports band 20 (800 mhz) that's equivalent to our band 28 in Aust? No specific mention on OW or ZTE Aust website.

Can anyone with the Aust version confirm. Thanks.
