Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this cheaper than an iPhone X?

    • +21

Yes, and it’s also cheaper than 1500 lemons(5pack) from Coles!

      • Lemons can only be used once :)

  • $200 cheaper at Shopmonk with international warranty

    • Link please

    • I was a bit worried about buying from them after reading some of the negative comments.

Travelling soon, so will get the GST refund, which makes the difference only about $100.
I'm happy to do that to get local stock.

      • Hi,
Just want to know if this comes with gst invoice with any purchaser’s personal identification on it?
I think gst refund over $1000 requires invoice like that.
        Thx!

    • I picked one up on Saturday and haven’t received a tracking number yet. It does say 14-21 days shipping.

  • Is this thing still running 5th Gen i5? 8th Gen i5 just around the corner…

    • +1

Yeah, newest macbook airs only have i5-5350Us
Also 900p screens. It's unrelated but something that's been annoying me for a while now.

      • macbook air with retina screen - id be all over it.
note 12" is smaller screen and no usb/sd slot

        • apple know if they update the AIR it will KILL 12" macbook/13" Pro sales… so they keep it as the budget line…

I have the 13" AIR and just bought the 13" Pro and I split my time between them.

Love the screen, keyboard and touchpad of the Pro, but miss the ports and mem/card reader of the AIR and find I cant part with the AIR for that reason.

its >90% as good at well under half the price! BUT ~ dont get 128gb AIRs, you need 256gb (not more, not less) as its then PERFECT

@srhardy: agree. Air all day here. No probd

    • Lol, I thought you were joking about the 5th gen cpu, but looks like it is according to the model number.

Incredible… But I guess the efficiency of the OS compensates…

        • +4

          no, just standard apple practice

Price matched at Officeworks for $1139. A bargain.

    • How you price matched ? I went to officeworks store ,they said no to me to price match ebay deals ?

      • Apologies for the late reply, maybe for next time… I just went into the Brisbane CBD store and asked did they match Myer eBay store. First "helper" guy said yes he thought so but he'd need to check. Called over another guy and he said no problem. I recall him saying no to general Ebay but as long as it was a proper eBay Store they price match. They said if I could bring the laptop and/or receipt the next day they would do the price match. That night went into the Garden City store with laptop and receipt and explained what the guys in the CBD store said, and they price matched without any issue.

Hey green eggs, could you upload the OW receipt for us? THX

      • +1

How did you do it ? Checked with ow they said no to me too

        • +1

Sorry for not replying sooner. As per longer comment above. I just asked about the Myer eBay store and they said no issue price matching - as long as it was a proper eBay store, not just a general eBay sale.

        • @green eggs: ohh..which office work store is so generous :)

By gum. Nearly pressed the trigger (needed to get a laptop for my son starting secondary next year). Literally had the thing in my cart then remembered I had the Amex 20% off (up to $40 credit) - checked Amex to see how much I'd used of that and then realised I still had the spend $400 get $100 back…. so checked Harvey and they had the laptop on special for $1248. Got $800 worth of HN gift cards via work for $760 (5% discount), then paid the balance of $448 using the Amex (and almost immediately got notified of the $100 credit).

So all up, the laptop cost me $1108. $109 dearer than Shopmonk @$999 (and I've bought from them in the past without an issue) but local stock etc. Also no cashrewards or flybuys but what the hey.

  • Harvey Norman is selling it for $1248 …If you have Amex offer saved then it would be 1148 (after $100 Cashback Amex)

    • Correct. And as I noted above, I managed to get it for $1108 as I split the payment between $800 gift cards (bought with 5% discount) and $448 on the amex. :-)

      • How to get discounted HN gift cards ..I want to do the same ..as I have Amex offer in my card.

        • Sorry - I get mine through my work. Maybe you can ask around and see if you have family who have similar deal….
