I've had Spam before, delicious on toast.

  • Looks like normal price…?

    This isnt Xiaomi.

Went on live chat, rep says the product is not compatible with Google Home (yet) :(

  • This kit doesn't have a camera, if not mistaken it utilize a old phone which isn't included in the price

You could get a similar packge under $100 from Xiaomi

    • Or… if you don't want everything going off to China, you can get a Vera or Fibaro system which support more protocols, which gives more addons and options.

Yes, it is more expensive, but has a large developer base (both systems unofficially or semi-officially support Google home and Alexa).

Or…. you can setup home assistant (eg. with raspberry pi) and do all the integration yourself
Home assistant does support many IOT devices, including XiaoMi
        https://home-assistant.io/

Or…. if you want an easier solution
Samsung Smartthings Hub is the way to go
Tho its not available in Australia but you can buy from Amazon (around $150 AUD shipped)

        • Absolutely. Depending on your tinker/technical level there are many ways to get into the HA market.

I went down the Vera front.

You don't have to use Xiaomi servers. You could use:

        Domoticz
        Or HomeAssistant.io

  • Whats the Deal???
    Limited release???

  • Another alternative is to use Telstra Smart Home
    https://www.telstra.com.au/smart-home/devices#household

Good thing with Telstra Smart Home is its officially supported by Google Home
But its more expensive so a real OZB might think this is a rip off :)

  • This would be a decent deal if it included a camera in the package

  • from the FAQ:

Do I need to be an Origin Energy customer in order to purchase Home HQ?

Anyone living in Victoria can purchase Home HQ, you don't need to be a current Origin Energy customer.

  • Does this read data from your power meter. And then allow you to turn on a smart outlet when you are exporting from solar PV? this would actually make sense. And why only Victoria??

  • Does anyone know what hub/system this is re-branded? I'm looking for an australian certified smart plug that can report on energy usage (live watt usage, nothing fancy) and this one say it does "Track real-time energy usage to help save money".
