The resort is really relaxing. Nice restaurant with a beautiful view. Unfortunately, no beach front. If you get the lower level room, you can hear clearly kids running on the floor above you. So request for upper level with ocean view room if you can.
We stayed there a couple of years ago for a wedding. Good place but as wolfy says below it's not on Phillip Island so you'll have to drive a little bit to get somewhere. Paid $246 for 2 nights.
Our biggest complaint was really bad curtains that did nothing to block the sun so if you like to get up early you're in luck.
We did this trip with 3 other families (all have kids) last year via groupon too - and we booked the same thing this year again. I think it's standard groupon (and scoopon) pricing, the same what we paid back in July when we booked. A good resort for families I think. Just double check the travel dates and surcharges (from memory there's no surcharge for booking during the week, but there's surcharges if you book on friday/saturday/sundays).

• Fri/Sat and Sun night surcharges: $55 per night for a Resort Room, $65 per night for a One-Bedroom Apartment, $95 per night for a Two-Bedroom Apartment, and $110 pe rnight for a Three-Bedroom Apartment

The Silverwater Resort is NOT on Phillip Island, it's on the road to Phillip Island before San Remo, really it's in the middle of no-where and (other than the resort itself) there is nothing interesting in the immediate vicinity.
I'd even suggest its not even within reasonable walking distance TO Philip Island, most Phillip Island attractions are a decent drive from the Silverwater.
Place is one of the nearest resorts just outside of Phillip Island. You'll need to drive across the bridge to Phillip Island.
Pros:
Lots of open space for running around. Great for the kids. Playground and pool
Clean and nice place.
Con:
Not in Phillip Island
