Valid in-app only via the BPme Australian app for payments at selected BP locations within Australia, excluding locations in South Australia.

    • Dammit! 🙁

renewable energies in SA, so no more fuel

        • Damn that sucks, no wonder I couldn't add it, I had to do it manually then I see this…

Maybe we don't have BP in SA? Aren't all BP's - On the Run instead?

        • @treeman: On BP's map it shows up as Wingfield as being the only location in SA that accepts the app (aside from rural). I don't see why that would not work with the offer..

  • Can someone try it in SA and report back if it work or not?

    • Just tried at AM PM west lakes, got the email. Appears to be a generic app charge rather than location specific.

  • Cool. Saved it already. Thanks OP.

BPme activation process: confirm email address, confirm mobile number with pin, confirm app pin, confirm fingerprint.

    Calm down BP

    • You forgot the $1 they pre charge the credit card.

      • Will the $1 be refunded?

        • +1

          You would hope so.

    • seriously !!! i was thinking the same .. is it a fuel app or my swiss account app :P

  • it seems like you can't add any credit cards to the Android version of the BPme app? Only accepts BP+ fuel cards. Am I missing something?

    • Ok had to download a different app. Searched "bpme app" on PlayStore to find the right one.

  • Does anyone know if it is possible to split payment with the BPme app? Otherwise I'll just end up making a few $20 transactions.

    • +2

What you do is after you set up the App,

At the office or home (ie not at the pump or you will probably piss off people waiting behind you):
      1. Load it up with all your Amex cards (including your wife's etc) so that they are all loaded into the app. Select one as the default one

      At BP:
      2. When at the pump, load up the app and it will quickly locate the BP you are at (which will hopefully have BPme set up
      3. When prompted by the app, enter in your LOCATION and PUMP number. From memory it also asks for which Amex card you want to use, let it use the default one initially.
      4. The app will then tell you that the Pump is activated.
      5. Get out of the car and load up on $20 of fuel
      6. Put fuel nozzle back into pump holster and this will automatically lock off the pump and you will receive an email and message that you have just spent $20.00 at BP Location X

If you want to continue pumping more gas on other cards, follow instructions 2-6 above but for step 3, select a different Amex card.

      Hope this helps.

It takes almost a minute for the payment to go through after putting the nozzle back. If doing a few I recommend going in to let the attendant know otherwise they may think something is wrong. They have to activate the pump for you once you start the app.

        • Weird. I did it three times in a row tonight and it took less than 10 seconds each time. Maybe there was a connectivity issue with that particular BP and the main server in your case?

        • @danielh:

It's a manual process for the attendant apparently. Mine was quick the first 2 times but last night it took forever so I walked inside and saw the attendant fumbling with a piece of paper trying to enter it into the system. He said that it was his first time. So the app is not that advanced after all.

      • Spot on danielh, this is exactly what I do too. Apart from a lag, where the app takes about a minute to take payment once the nozzle is put in the holder, it's a pretty seamless process.

  • +1

It's a shame I have a bonus points offer from velocity at the moment, but can't get points from the app currently

  • BPme app (android) is shit. It shows the service station as being many kms away from where it actually is (shows it as being in farmland where there is nothing at all) and it just keeps saying 'Hmm. You don't seem to be near a service station' even though I was parked at a mobile enabled BP station with location services turned on.

    • Hmmm ok. Sounds like you'd want to open the app first and confirm that it knows you're at a station before starting to fill up fuel.

      • For sure. You need to (if you are able to.. and the app works) select the pump number as well. Although not sure when you need to do that.

  • Just tried the BP app and it didn’t work, it didn’t let me to choose the pump to pay. I had to payanually at thr cashier and called Amex to reimburse the credits.

    • no issue with that? despite not using the app.

      • no, I called them and explained the situation and they credited immediately. And the rep told me to continue to use the BP offer as this doesn't count and the offer is still valid at other BP stations.

      • It didn't work for me either. I sent a message through the Amex site and they credited straight away.

    • It didn't work for me too, I called AMEX and they told me to contact BP as it was their problem and they could not reimburse the credit.

      • Call them again.

Aussie Farmers Direct also has a discount of $25 on first order (Code: XMAS25; Min Spend $65) and you can get $11 cashback from Cashrewards (for new customers). In short, new customers can stack up around 60% discount if you shop $125 worth of grocery ($125-$25-$40-$11 =$49). Also, FREE home delivery.

    • Thanks for the tip. Quite a bargain. Just stocked up on TP and tuna. It's not somewhere I would normally shop as they seem for the most part more expensive but at $76 off it can't be beaten. Weird delivery times though 12am-7am!

  • +3

Not sure if this has been mentioned but BE CAREFUL with BP app as a station may be on the BPme compatible list but NOT ALL PUMPS may be listed. In my case only pump 1/2 were available out of 12 pumps so I had to move my car. Other than that it worked great - I made 2X separate $20 transactions which coincidentally was exactly what I need to fill up. Had to spill (overflow) about 12c worth of fuel during the 2nd run :)

    • Thanks for the heads up - handy to know. Not an ideal situation when the place is busy though, and you pull up at a pump only to find out it's not "active" and there's other people waiting and/or all the other pumps are in use so you can't move to another one!

      • +1

yeah exactly… lucky for me it was empty and I backed up etc, otherwise too much of a hassle. Best to pull up somewhere (may be near the air/water) check the phone then drive forward to the correct pump.

        • Yes, that's what I was thinking. The nearest BP where I can use the app is quite an old service station and there's not much room to manoeuvre!

        • @SimbaGirl:

may be even phone ahead and find out?

        • @gimme: Good idea, might do that just to save any hassles!

  • I bet the servo attendants must be loving this app trying to differentiate between app users and people who do a runner.

    • Isn't that the same as paying directly on the pump? Some Caltex pumps accept credit cards. They must have some sort of alerts on which pumps haven't paid yet.

    • I asked the attendant about this… When you select a pump on the app and confirm your payment method, it will alert the attendant on their system.

  • I tried twice. I thought I would fill first and then pay… Actually I need to launch the app and unlock the pump first, and then I start filling. Of course I had to pay the first filling at the counter;)

    • Same here but I asked if I could pay via the app and the attendant manually transferred my transaction over.

  • Think T2 enrolments are capped; tried to register another AMEX and got the no longer available message

  • +2

How has nobody made a comment about the fact that BPme is literally an app that encourages the use of a mobile phone at a petrol station!?!?!

Still stoked to use it though - the app seems like an awesome idea. The less human intervention the better.

  • Damn no AFD for me and I grabbed T2 fairly early today.

  • There's also a Newslink offer: Spend $20 or more, get $10 back, up to 3 times, by 31/12/2017.

  • +2

Can confirm I used the BPMe offer twice last night, for 2x$20 folks at the same pump. Easy to use, I could see the attendant using some screen to verify the fills etc but was really good.
Looking forward to using it more.

    • I'm still learning the app.
      How did you do 2x20

Did you choose the same pump or move the car?

      • +7

So I pulled up at pump 3 in BP Mulgrave, turned off engine and then opened app.
My location was on in the phone so it recognised I was at the location.
Scrolled through the pump numbers, chosw 3, verified payment details (used my primary Explorer card), then filled up exactly $20, then put the nozzle back in its holder. Waited for the app to process and approve payment, then restarted the app, repeated the same steps but this time used my first Explorer supplementary card.
Repeat for how many ever cards you want to use. It was late at night too (~11pm) so not busy. If it was busy I wouldn't have taken so much time at one Bowser for 4p bucks of fuel.

        • +1

You sir are a true ozbargainer

          Thanks for the tips

        • @hellohello123: haha I try my best :)

        • @hellohello123: A true ozbargainer would have waited until the bottom of the price cycle.

        • @JIMB0:

Or even buy the petrol station and take advantage of staff discount.

In fact I've stopped using the 711 statement credit cos the BP one is better!

Pity my car doesn't hold unlimited fuel

        • @JIMB0: you're right, but my tank was near empty and I've got a lot of driving coming up in the next few days. This is a convenient option. I've got 10 more fills left so can certainly take advantage of the lower part of the cycle when it does roll around.

        • +1

@hellohello123: haha buy Jerry cans on special and fill up when at the bottom of the price cycle, that's professional

        • You filled up exactly $20? Impressive. I always go over by a few cents no matter how soft I press the trigger towards the end

        • @smuey: I use the pre-set settings and press $20, so it stops right on $20. For pumps without this feature, I fill to about $19.95 or so, then go softly in 1c increments until it stops at $20.

        • Oh didn't even know there was a feature like that, although it does make sense that it exists. I'll have a look next time I'm at the servo. Thanks!

  • anyone else having trouble adding amex card into BPme app? i downloaded the right app, not the fuelcard one. keeps giving me there was an error, please try again.
Also is BP offer one time cash back? or multiple? i remember reading somewhere yesterday morning up to 3 times..could just be imagining..

    • The 3 times, that is for the Travel Essentials offer, not BP. This BP offer is only once per card.

      • i see! thanks

        • btw my amex card cannot be added for some reason into the bpme app. i have a cba issued amex

        • @jussie2000: I was getting the same error message yesterday when trying to complete the registration at the "Add email" stage, but it finally went through. I was however able to add my CBA Amex to the app without any issues.

        • @SimbaGirl: i tried adding my CBA issued mastercard no issues. Only the CBA AMEX! which is the whole point of using their stupid app….

        • @jussie2000: Looks like there's a few people having the same issue, which must be really frustrating, especially as the Amex offer runs out soon. Mind you, with all the problems people having been reporting with using the app, I'm wondering whether it's worth it.

  • Is the BPme app charging $1 for each transaction?

    • +2

No that's just CC validation. It'll show as pending for a while and disappear after a few days.

      • I got charged 2x $1, I think $1 for the verification when you added the card and the other one for the transaction? They show as pending though so I think they will just disappear soon.

  • +2

Note that BPMe app excludes LPG at the bowser.

    https://www.bp.com/content/dam/bp-country/en_au/products-ser…

  • What does the green phone icon next tothe BP stations on the map mean?

    • +1

It means you can use BPme app

      • So the ones without you can't use it?

        • +3

Yes. The map shows all the BPs and highlights the ones you can use the app at.

        • @gimme:
          Thank you!

  • +1

Attempted the payment at my local BP. Unlocked the pump but declined my AMEX!
Had registered 2 days prior and was charged $1 (assuming refundable).
Currently my payment has not gone through.
Contacted BP and asked them to fix this
They mentioned how they were having issues with AMEX issued cards.
I think the app itself is pretty poor.
Overall experience also is quite poor due to all this, and I have a feeling I'll have to call AMEX to get my actual credit. I won't bother with getting the credit on my other AMEX card.

    • What number you call? I've got charge twice but didn't get the pump unlocked so at the end I didn't use it.

    • Had the same issue yesterday, no matter which one of my cards I chose to use for payment.in the end just gave up and drove to the next 7-eleven and for the fuel that way. I didn't know the attendant could transfer a transaction to the app, that's very handy information. But how does the payment work then?

    • i agree app is a whole pile of crap. it takes 5 mins to start up and then each minute for each press… and doesn't wanna add my AMEX card. so yeah 7-11 can have my money too!

  • +1

BP app doesn't make it clear you need to go through the app process BEFORE filling up rather than filling up and then paying through the app so I got charged (profanity) $1.40/L for fuel today. Biggest load of bullshit, will be putting in a complaint.

    • When you accept the AMEX offer it says:

Redeem your offer by following the below easy steps:

      1. Download the BPme app
      2. Load your American Express® Card
      3. Find your closest BP in the Station Finder to fill up and go
      4. Use the app to unlock your pump and spend $20 or more to receive a $10 credit
  • Hmm anyone else having this issue?

When I select pump number it says "Error! Sorry, we're having some technical issues. Please start again or fill up and pay for your fuel in the shop".

I'm using a non-rooted OnePlus One (i.e. Android) and I was physically at the petrol station. I get the same error when I use Fake GPS to pretend I'm at the station to test it out.

    • I believe it must be the communication between BPme backend to the station's pump. Got same problem at different stations and I can see my signal was good.
I really felt for the guy at the station. He said people got into trouble with the app all the time and took him more time to fix it. Luckly he was able to transfer the transaction manually into BPme app so that I can get cashback from Amex.

I got 3 cards to get cashback but I dont think I would be bother any more - also the price was so high recently.

      • Good on the servo guy!
I'm refusing to pay BP via their manual payment method (incurs a $3 fee).
Their screw up, their option to fix it. Last time i'll be using their app.

        • What's this 'manual' payment method you speak of?

        • @MathNerd:
I get sms's and email's every morning asking me to pay which has a link to a BP payment page.
I have spoken to BP and emailed them twice asking them to confirm that this will appear as a BP me payment. Only then will i make payment.

        • @bullettime: Ah,I see. Sounds like a B2B transaction then, when a lot of things are done "on account".

        • @MathNerd:
Still allows for a credit card payment, and i think it's a BP me payment page, but i want confirmation prior to making payment.
FYI BP customer care, very slow.

        • @bullettime: ah yeah, with such aarge corporation, who knows which merchant they'll process the transaction through!

        • Same problem with the hubby.. amex payment didn’t go through and we were already 3kms away when we got a message saying the payment was declined and now has to pay additional $3 recovery fee

      • Had the same issue yesterday, no matter which one of my cards I chose to use for payment. In the end just gave up and drove to the next 7-eleven and for the fuel that way. I didn't know the attendant could transfer a transaction to the app, that's very handy information. But how does the payment work then?

  • Love this BP app

Had some trouble initially when the app kept on saying off-line while I was sitting amat the pump.
It is a bit fidgety but once I've used all my Amex I'll probably delete the aop

    • yeah I'm with you. It's not a bad idea but I find it a bit pointless. May be good for people who fill up frequently and want to avoid the queues. I'll be uninstalling the app once I've exhausted all the credits. I never buy at BP anyway. Until the next Amex deal :)

  • +5

As for T2…. well considering the 6000% markup on their teas they need to offer me a lot more than the Amex credit to get me in there. At the very least noone should buy black tea at T2. Dilmah loose black tea (fraction of the cost) is a far better product. As for all the other stuff, they typically use 3 times the recommended dose for their tasting pots so something to keep in mind. They're not bad but way overpriced for my ozbargain sensibilities.

    • Aww, I like Melbourne Breakfast though

  • Rocked up to my closest BP and app said the station didn't support BPMe. After all the effort registering for an account. So I pay with my amex and get onto online chat to see if they can apply the statement credit. The guy was helpful, but couldn't see a way he could apply it and asked me to contact BPMe. Pretty pissed at the waste of time.
