Guys, I was at Harvey Norman Adelaide City Center Store comparing iPhone prices
and the salesperson told about $200 gift card if I switch to Optus since I had an awesome prepaid annual deal with Kogan, I let him amuse me
But pulled it off he gave me 20 Gb data with iPhone 8 space gray and $200 gift card.
I noticed since then Optus have started doing the deal on their website but its missing $200 gift card.

      i spoke to other iphone 8 users this morning, they complained the battery life was shorter than previous models and nothing really stood out from updating an iphone 6 to an iphone 8

          More efficient processor meant that a smaller battery would give the same battery life as the previous phone, and I guess they liked the reduction in weight and more room to work with.

      I did jump from iPhone 6s to Samsung S8, getting from Telstra $59 20gb with $200 Jb gift card. I am feeling boring with iphone’s face. The 8 looks same with iPhone 6. iPhone X is not my favourite. Try Samsung for 1 year, at least with new phone feeling plan, I can back to latest iPhone next year. By the way, Optus network is a pain for me, even I am working in North Sydney area which is not far away from CBD.

    the iphone 8 has better camera quality than the s8 but not by much, overall the s8 looks better, was told they went out to dinner last night and one of their friends pulled out his new s8 and payed for the bill by tapping on the EFT machine, not sure if iphone8 does that

    I recall when the iPhone 8 came out not long ago, these plans were in excess of $100/month. Thankfully I didn't upgrade at this time.

    Only $10 a month extra for the 256 GB iphone 8, that's crazy.

    Great deal, I upgraded from my $30/month sim only plan without break fees.

    Ugh, I got onto this deal yesterday through HN and already am regretting moving from Telstra to Optus. I'm going to bail out on their 30 day plan guarantee. I'm in Brisbane CBD and everywhere I was getting reception and 4G with Telstra is just not working on Optus.

    No point in having 20gb and all the rest if you can't actually use it. Sitting at my desk typing this on my work PC as i cannot do it on my phone!

    Will be interesting to see how I go.

      That’s why, I stay with Telstra, in my work place, even I can’t do iMessage on my iPhone with Optus network. Very interesting, just walk through the door, Optus 4G can jump onto the screen.

        Re: the gift card. They gave it to me on the day, but because the phone was rain checked, I didn't get an invoice number as such to activate it with.

        TBH, I probably wouldn't use it even if I had been able to activate it. Strikes me as a bit dodgy.

          @janxspirit: yep, cancelled no problem thus far and ported to kogan. You just need your account number from when you cancel I'm store. Will wait to I'm billed to see if it had worked properly though.

      The staff are doing a great job it’s Optus issue as their connections team are taking at least 2 hours to answer the call.

      The rude customers have left and missed out on the offer…to bad for them.

      yes you can do that, you have to sign up as a new sign up with a "new number" then if you want to keep your existing number, you have to ring optus directly to port it over after your new plan is activated.. i heard the sales guy in HN explaining this to another person who wanted to sign up.

    You have to call ahead and ask them about the case and screen protector. They are not supposed to give it but the guy told me over the phone they will do it so it was honoured. A couple of other people also signing up asked but were refused.

    I also Called Chadstone and they also agreed to offer the Case and Screen protector. Funny how when you show up they say only the cheapest one is free and you would have to pay for the dearer ones.

      people at HN just work to win their attitude and ego's, last time i brought a product which was price error on HN website. funny thing was they charged me and handed-over the receipt as well suddenly one staff member came from behind and said he cant give me my product because of price error, i had to physically fight with manager to claim my goods back. from then i never ever shopped in that store @HN waurnponds. Eventually ,what i heard was store has bad reputation.

        It was all or nothing for me.
        The deal was technically a good one but still not 100% sure about Optus coverage in my area and committing for 24mths given how quickly phone plans are changing.
        It was also the attitude of the staff thinking they know more than an Ozbargain member who had done his research.
        As Kenny once said You've got to know when to fold em, know when to hold em and know when to walk away! This was one of those occasions to walk away for me.

        No, just a port from amaysim…. Harvey Norman has photocopied Optus forms, didn’t even have original/carbon copy ones. There was 4 others waiting too, I was last one in the queue but my staff member was the first to connect through to an Optus staff member.

        Felt so bad for the Harvey Norman guy, we had a chat and he said that he wouldn’t get paid any overtime for staying back. We talked about their commission structure and he said he’d get maybe $5 for the phone/contract (after spending over 2 hours with me on hold
        To Optus). He also said they get no penalty rates, the pay is rubbish and the commission structure is woeful… so much for Gerry Harvey trying to support Australia hey??

    Went to work today and had absolutely no reception in my workplace.

    Any advice on re-engineering this bargain? I feel I could probably return the phone and get a refund with the Optus 30day guarantee - I'm not sure if they'd want the giftcard or case back though?

      Sorry I shouldn’t laugh. But this was my experience 2 years ago this month. Mine was only sim only so no phone to return.

      Start the process now. They try and problem solve. So you will need to go through that.
