Guys, I was at Harvey Norman Adelaide City Center Store comparing iPhone prices
and the salesperson told about $200 gift card if I switch to Optus since I had an awesome prepaid annual deal with Kogan, I let him amuse me
But pulled it off he gave me 20 Gb data with iPhone 8 space gray and $200 gift card.
I noticed since then Optus have started doing the deal on their website but its missing $200 gift card.

        I spoke with two store reps one from optus and the other feom HN. Both said I can only have this plan or the gift card with more expensive plans. The latter (I think he was a senior) showed me an email saying that this plan can’t be combined with any other offer including “200$ regional port in”. Anyway I don’t think it worths without the gift card and I won’t need 20GB or any other inclusion of this plan so will pass.

          It cannot be used with the regional offer, no.

          This $59 plan does def stack with the HN $200 gift card. Go more senior if you need to. A lot of regional HN stores do notdo a lot of optus so sometimes may miss some of the Ts&Cs

      My wife just got it done at HN in Hoppers Crossing but for the S8 and she got the $200 eftpos card. Heaps of people waiting but I saw iphone 8 customers getting the eftpos card too

      I think the iPhone 8 256GB on the $69 plan will have the best resale value. Having said that, the iPhone 8 64GB won't be too far behind. Not sure about the resale value of Huawei Mate 10 Pro but that is the newest phone among the lot so that could be an option too.

      I got mine at HN Richmond. Signed up yesterday. Got $200 EFTPOS card with iPhone 8. Fairly simple process. Ported from vodafone. They didn't have any iPhone's in stock so I took a raincheck and i'll pick it up in a few days. I got the EFTPOS gift card and sim card on the spot.

    Harvey Norman Warrawong has bugger all phones in stock, they're ringing around trying to get more from their subsidiaries.

    Either that, or it's a ploy by them to upsell, but judging by how many customers were in the store and how hard it was to get a staff member (all of them were constantly tied up), I'm inclined to believe the spiel they gave me.

      You have to produce a green Medicare card or Australian passport to prove citizenship.

      If you are not a citizen then it’s based on your visa
      Your visa must have the relevant time required remaining to be approved.

      Only used on the phone. Cannot be used with Chromecast etc.

      It works through Dex Station though.

      If you tether your phone to your chromecast it will work, but its capped at Standard Definition (from my previous experience, this isn't officially supported)

      The sales person at Harvey Norman said I had to pay out my phone which is 10/month, nothing more.

        That’s not quite right.
        Phone is $1320 total.
        By taking it on a plan you get a handset discount.
        Ending the plan early you are required to pay the phone balance including any amount Optus was discounting.

        So in short the cancelation fee on day 1 is $1320 plus the relevant plan cancelation fees.

        That is based on 256gb phone btw (which mine was)

        Rang Optus sales and that's definitely not the case. they have a cost for the phone which they are subsidising for the deal so the pay out figure will be calculated based on that. Just an FYI if you are looking to cancel at a later stage.

    I saw this post in the morning and went to Harvey Norman to sign up. I tried to buy the 69/month plan with a 256GB iPhone 8, but they had non in stock. However, the sales person said they could reincheck the phone and deliver it to my home within a week. I also showed them the purchase of a fellow ozbargainer and got a free phone case of my choosing and a screen protector. This also came with the 200 dollar EFTPOS card. I worked it out that I’ll be paying around 2 dollars/month for the plan after subtracting the value of the phone, eftpos card, phone case, screen protector.

    Thanks Ozbargain community! Best phone deal of my life!

      I wanted to add that the sales persons are busy because lots of people have gone into store to purchase these Optus plans. I also witnessed lots of phone calls that were not attended too because all floor staff were busy. I’m betting that instore customers get served first over phone customers.

      Correct. $200 Gift Cards cannot be given to postpaid customers.

      Only prepaid to postpaid,
      Or New service with new number,
      Or port from a different carrier.

          It can be done but I had to pay an $80 exit fee to optus

    "After 12 months, you can pay $99 to return your current phone to a Yes Optus store in good working order and get a new one on a new 24-month plan. Alternatively, keep your current phone - simply pay it out, along with any amount Optus was going to cover and get the latest one on a new 24-month plan."
