Non-remote diffusers available much cheaper. From around us$10 delivered from China - just not as pretty (put inside interesting vase) & won't arrive before Christmas. Bought ultrasonic diffuser module for around us$3 (had USB power supply etc) to build my own creation.

    • That's a brilliant price for ultrasonic. Was that on eBay?

      • Or aliexpress (only had a quick look as I have one on my desk to put together) - handy devices if you want to disperse nice oils. Basic plastic units.

Maybe a space themed one for us$8.99 🚀

          @MishyMoo:
Just stumbled across the USB rocket one - tempted to buy. Just don't expect much. Likely to be similar ultrasonic module to this one, just not same controls nor in ancient hand made clay vessel…

They are pretty basic: vessel to hold water, ultrasonic module (about size of 20c coin), control circuit, power supply.

        • @Infidel:
Yeah, I'm thinking that plastic would absorb the oil….so if we're trying a new oil after, it could be tainted…

        • @MishyMoo:
1 per oil? I use 3 oils, so would be possible.

Just wash out container with warm water & detergent or similar between oils. Rinse well & leave for a while. Or use diffuser with neutral scent between oils?

Otherwise make another choice. Plastic is light to transport & make, so will be the cheapest to buy.

My ancient ceramic aroma oil diffuser powered by a tea light candle almost never gets cleaned - haven't noticed difference when changing oils.

        • @Infidel:
Agree, I think ceramic wouldn't change anything…just don't trust plastic and oil together…may be sometime I read, or intuition

        • @MishyMoo:
The oils build up on the ceramic. When water & next oil is heated, some scent will probably mix in. The ceramic will not take on the scent of the oil or the oil affect it.

Ultrasonic diffusers don't heat, just shake the water & oil on the module, creating vapour. A miniscule amount of oil will remain. So should be cleaned regularly. Oils may affect plastic over time (depending on what type it is).

don't trust plastic and oil together

I've found the combination of latex and oil to be ok.

          I think that's lube you've got there😉

Thank you for your amazing/warped/something sense of humour.
Missed you at the Adelaide get together yesterday. A shame you weren't able to fly in for the evening. It was a lot of fun 😊

        • @Infidel:
Thank you. I only learned that last week about ultrasonic diffusers..I didn't know they existed until then…great idea. (Im a slow learner in some things 😊).

Definitely got a "something" sense of humour. Hopefully unclassifiable & not contagious.

Missed you at the Adelaide get together yesterday.

Did anyone try to hit on you, I would have?

        • @Infidel:
He's one of a kind that's for sure, and I've never found his sense of humour to be demeaning or derogatory towards anyone, just a bit warped, which is what makes him funny 😊

        • @MishyMoo:
We are all learners. I was looking at an expensive diffuser at local Perfect Potion store (I did aromatherapy massage course with them years ago & like them). Thought I can build one much cheaper… parts have been sitting on desk for a month. Learnt about them only recently myself.

Used their oils when I returned to Uni studies years ago. Something worked because I topped my year. I enjoy using the oils & use them to trigger changes in behaviour (sleep, relaxation, focussing) - so may.have nothing to do with the expensive oils themselves. Just don't want to start a fire with my old burner!

        • @Scab:
I bet you wouldn't…that would take some kind of courage 😊😊.

Well, some of them I could have been old enough to be their grandmother, so they were very respectful, some were couples, the others were interested in gadgets/bitcoin etc (as I am…well, maybe not bitcoin) and were delightful to be around. It really was fun.
          .
You know I didn't go there to be hit on, don't you!?

You know I didn't go there to be hit on, don't you!? - that never entered Scabs head😵

It is often said those who talk about it the most, are getting the least.

        • @Infidel:
          Oh good, that's wonderful.
So if you make a start today on getting it built (like a miniature brick oven or is it clay that will need to be fired?) you could show us your progress here if OP or mods don't mind. I'm only just starting to get into oils….concerned about not using rancid chemical-sprayed and added crap that's been through x-ray machines to get here etc. I guess that would mean learning how to grow/source distill them myself if I wanted to. … be 100% certain.
Not sure I want to go that far..

        • +1

          @Scab:
You mean you haven't found it yet!? 😱

        • @MishyMoo:
An old friend (I haven't seen in ages) makes organic cosmetics. He had so much problem ensuring what he wanted was what he received. Organic coconut oil arrived rancid. Loved hanging out at his place for the pleasant smells.

Given the small amount of essential oils most would use, it is easier to source that from a reputable seller. No use storing it.

        • @Infidel:

          You really know your oils.

        • @Infidel:
Congrats on your uni results. It shows that you love your subject.

Yes, I've been reading about positive results with oils.
Even if used as an immediate mood changer.
I often use raw (legal herbs, the same as I would use in cooking )(for many things) just to change the energy in the place (I might stop there, the nay-saying vultures could be around…

        • @Infidel:
Agree. Must be so nice visiting him.

        • @Scab:
Certainly does, and oils ain't just oils Scab 😎

        • @Scab:
There's pics of me at the Brisbane meet up from years ago, hidden on OzBargain. I was wearing a t-shirt with my avatar. Almost no one else was drinking & I hate to see alcohol go to waste🍺 I was easy prey, but no one even tried😢
Think that was the first official meet in Oz.

        • @Infidel:

          @MishyMoo:
Uni was a long time ago.
My business ran children's workshops for adults - putting participants under light hypnosis & allowing them to play as 5 year olds. It developed creativity & problem solving. Most left the 4 hour experiences laughing & skipping. It was transformative. People told me years later it had changed their lives for the better.

So I used triggers to reinforce or bring about certain states in myself & my clients (music, setting, tone of voice & language, smells, etc).

For example, the State Manager of a multinational sat on the floor of my CBD office playing & developed a highly profitable market no one had seen before, for their old product. Estimated value of new business - around $300M/yr in 5 minutes of play.

Just celebrated 10 years since I last worked (1 day that year) - have enjoyed travelling overseas most of the time since then, exploring & meeting interesting people. Not that I ever worked much.

          We have very similar paths/journeys.
Travel has become my main focus these days.
I smiled when I read about your state mgr and life changing results. I've found that it's no longer about money at that stage, it's about helping others transform and improve, finding out what their values and beliefs are and learning to change them if they're not serving the person.
Some things are so much better than money 🌷

I'm really sorry to hear that. I'm thinking that you're going to be bogged down in paperwork, legal-speak and a heap of time used on something that could be better used elsewhere. May it end well for you, end soon and with minimum effort 🌼.

Perhaps you could start a thread in the OzBargains (everyday/everything else (?) Forums section… There may be some OzBargainers with expertise in that area that could help or have useful advice..? Tho this is where a good solicitor gives in very handy.

I understand perfectly what you are saying about living on less 🌾

Yes, oils will be so useful throughout this,. as well as everything else that you know.

Sometimes I think that the things that we choose to learn usually end up being appropriate for the challenges that we attract.

    More Crap for Christmas™ 😵

Puzhen Life’s purple clay aroma diffuser is handmade using ancient craftsmanship passed down through generations, making it also an exquisite piece of art to admire.
Generations of craftspeople producing LED light show ultrasonic aroma therapy oil diffusers… I don't think so.

They are elegant, relaxing, tranquil, joyful, bliss and the enrichment in life that is obtained from these very humble ultrasonic aroma diffusers is outstanding.

Wew lad. Wonder what kind of of 'essential oils' you need to be smoking to write this crap

    • Only the best.
But at PUZHEN they don't smoke🚬, they Diffuse💨
It adds to the sales price, so inhale deeply😵

Added that job, of over-hyping to increase price & sales of crap, to list of what I want to do when I grow up. Along with Christmas Cracker joke writer🎅

  • Wow, I thought Doterra was a ripoff.

    • Tis the season for (hyped up) ripoffs🎄

    • Yeah, it's pricey stuff. Trying to find genuine oil without additives etc is difficult. They seem to have cornered the market with fair trade, organic, sustainable, pure etc
